Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Broyles of Earth and the Rev. Steve McElroy of First United Methodist Church in El Paso officiating. Burial will be in Earth Memorial Cemetery by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Campbell was born in Choctaw Territory and attended the Wheelock Academy for Girls in Oklahoma. She married "B" Campbell in Durant, Okla. They moved to Earth in 1951 from Bennington, Okla. They ran the Campbell Cotton Gin. Mr. Campbell died in 1972. She was a longtime member of Earth and Olton lodges of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Survivors include two sons, Joe Campbell of San Antonio and Royal E. Campbell of Houston; a daughter, Billie Tate of Shreveport, La.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, April 29, 2000 John Walter French DALHART - John Walter French, 75, died Thursday, April 27, 2000. Masonic graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery with Clay Lobley officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. French was born in Claude. During World War II, he served as an aviation machinist's mate third class and was a nose gunner in the Philippines. He married Faye Pillot in 1945 at Clayton, N.M. They moved to Dalhart. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Alenda Faye French in 1946 and Carolyn Sue French in 1950; and a son, Johnny Lee French in 1963. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Peggy Jean "P.J." French of Texarkana; and a brother, Carl French of Coldwater. Amarillo Daily News, April 29, 2000 LaVern East BORGER - LaVern East, 80, formerly of Borger, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, in Sanford. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church at Sanford with the Rev. Terry Corbett, pastor of Borger Christian Center, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. East was born in Erick, Okla., and had lived in Borger since 1943. She was a homemaker and sold tropical fish. She was a Baptist. She was living in Sanford at the time of her death. She married W.A. "Bill" East in 1940 at Brinkman, Okla. He died in 1974. Survivors include a son, Billie East of Fritch; a daughter, Mary Leonard of Sanford; two sisters, Helen Roles of Sunray and Verna Lee of Harrah, Okla.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Bacon, 78, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000. Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Mennonite Church at Perryton with the Rev. Darwin Hartman officiating. Cremation and other arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mr. Bacon was born in Elsmore, Kan. He moved to the Perryton area 25 years ago from New Plymouth, Idaho. He had been a teacher, had worked as a clerk for Union Pacific Railroad and owned a construction business that designed and built feed yards. He was a member of Perryton Mennonite Church and the Masonic Lodge in Kansas, receiving his 50-year award in 1998. Mr. Bacon was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Terry, in 1990. He married Lorraine Smith in 1995 in Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rebecca Martin of Fayetteville, Ark.; and two sisters, Carla Harvey of Orofino, Idaho, and Nina Drees of Nampa, Idaho. Mrs. Wood was born in Glendale, Calif. She graduated from high school in Glendale and moved to Plainview. She was a homemaker and had been a floral designer. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Pink Ladies Auxiliary, Plainview Country Club and the Elks Lodge Auxiliary. She married Robert Blake Wood in 1951 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1998. Charles Davenport, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Muleshoe Memorial Park at Muleshoe by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Fudge was born in Lampasas County and moved to Bailey County in 1948. He graduated from Muleshoe High School in 1954 and attended a seed technology course at Mississippi State University. He had worked for King Brothers Seed Co. in Muleshoe. In 1961, he moved to Tulia and worked as assistant manager for Taylor-Evans Seed Co., and later for Kan-Tex Seed Co. Mr. Fudge served in the Texas National Guard at Plainview, 36th Infantry Division. He also served as Master Sargeant and Instructor in the New Mexico National Guard at Clovis, N.M. He was a member of First Baptist Church and had been a past member of the Masonic Lodge in Muleshoe. He married Barbara Ann Byrd in 1959 at Bailey County. Survivors include his wife; a son, Rick Fudge of Tulia; two daughters, LaMonda Fudge of Amarillo and Rebecca Patton of Silverton; a brother, Bobby R. Fudge of Kempner; and five grandchildren. He died in 1985. Mrs. Edwards was born in Coyle, Okla., and had been a Borger resident since 1942. She was a retired dorm mother at Frank Phillips College, and a member of the University Heights Christian Church. She was a member of the Paragon Club, the Republican Women's Club, and Girl Scouts of America. She married Ira Lee Edwards in 1930 at Guthrie, Okla. He died in 1965. Survivors include five daughters, Betty Picquet and Mandy Pons, both of Albuquerque, N.M., Barbara Bybee of Amarillo, Nita Jo Wilson of Dalhart and Jennifer Miesse of Anchorage, Alaska; 23 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He attended schools in Tucumcari, N.M. He moved to Plainview in 1953 and worked for Plainview Bi-Products. He was a member of Casa De Oracion. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gilbert Gutierrez, in 1964, and Danny Gutierrez, in 1984. He retired from the oil field in Borger where he had worked most of his life. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Terea Deana Ream, in 1977, and Angel Dawn Ream, in 1979. In 1936, she earned a bachelor's degree in music from Louisiana State University. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She married the Rev. Russell Wingert in 1939. He died in 1973. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Wingert, in 1987. She married George C. Warner in 1977 at Hereford. Survivors include her husband; a son, Russell Andrew Wingert of DeSoto; two sisters, Evelyn Peters of New Orleans and Edith Carr of Gretna, La.; and two grandchildren. Inman in 1926. He died in 1993. Survivors include two daughters, Charlene Baker of Kingwood and Teresa Berg of Meadowview, Va.; three sons, Harold R. Lewis and they moved to Greeley, Colo. They operated a resort until 1976. He died in 1978. She operated a health food store in Fort Collins, Colo., then returned to Amarillo in 1980. She was a member of the Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Ann Peterson, in 1998. Survivors include a brother, R.B. Mrs. Pierce was born in Sacramento, Calif. She moved from Hobbs to Curry County in 1980. She was a beautician and owner of Pierce Beauty Salon in Texico. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge. She married Wallace Pierce in 1971 at Lovington. He died in 1995. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Johnson. Survivors include a daughter, Jo Lynne Hoy of Elk Grove, Calif.; and two sons, Terrell Johnson of Gridley, Calif., and Kelly Johnson of Sedona; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, April 29, 2000 Reno Clifford Stark NIXA, Mo. - Reno Clifford Stark, 70, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, in Springfield, Mo. Services will be at 5 p.m. today in Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Hinds officiating. Cremation will be at a later date by the funeral home. Mr. Stark was born in Petersburg, Texas. He lived in Corpus Christi, Texas, from 1933 to 1950, when he joined the Armored Tank Division to serve during the Korean War. He moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1968, where he was an operator for Atlantic Richfield. He retired in 1987 and moved to Ava and then to the Nixa area in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion. He married Jeane Stark in 1968 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Mykie Hill of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
