Local arrangements and cremation were by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. A longtime resident of California, Mr. Stockstill worked as a brick mason and masonry contractor. His wife, Ruth, died in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Austin Stockstill and Lewis Stockstill; a stepson, Alex Stuckert Sr.; four stepdaughters, Grace Earl, Elsie Plaskett, Sandra Morrison and Sharon Stagner; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She retired in July after 19 years as the teacher resource center coordinator for the Region XVI Education Service Center. She was active with the Amarillo Little Theatre, also performing in many productions. She also was a member and active participant of High Plains Storytelling Association and the Tejas Storytelling Association and a member of the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. She married Jesse Moses in 1965 at Lordsburg, N.M. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He formerly owned and operated Elmo's Drive In and later was a machinist for Amarillo Hydraulic. Mr. Hicks was a Methodist and a member of the Hereford Masonic Lodge No. 81 and the Khiva Temple. He married Ethel Passmore in 1980 at Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a member of the San Jacinto Methodist Church, where she also was youth director. She married Robert Taylor Woodward in 1936 at Amarillo. He died in 1993. She was a member of the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association and a Methodist. Mrs. DePorter was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. DePorter, in 1981; and by a son, Robert Edward DePorter, in 1966. Survivors include a daughter, B.J. He served in the Army during World War II with the signal corps and was stationed in South Africa, Italy and Central Europe. After the war, he returned to the family ranch in Nara Visa and worked there until going to work for the government in Las Vegas, Nev., at the Atomic Test Site. He retired and moved to Amarillo in 1998. Mr. Garcia married Irene Shockley in 1947 at Tucumcari, N.M. She died in 1997. Survivors include nieces and nephews. Mr. Pope was born in Carlsbad, N.M. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Marine Corps. He owned and operated a gas station in Carlsbad and also worked in construction. He had lived in Hereford for more than 24 years. He managed a hog farm and raised hogs and sheep on his own farm. He retired as an equipment operator from the Sugarland Feed Lot in Hereford. Mr. Pope was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Hereford. He married Nell McGaugh in 1977 at Carlsbad. Mrs. Bayley was born in Rincon, N.M. She grew up in Lockney, graduated from Lockney High School in 1934 and attended Draughon's Business College. She managed the Hilton Hotel from 1960 to 1962 and went to work for Sears, Roebuck & Co. at Plainview, retiring in 1980 as a credit manager in Lubbock. She worked at Crawford Hefflefinger Partnership from 1980 to 1996. She married Spencer Alanson Bayley in 1937 at Lubbock. He died in November. Howard Rhodes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens by Foskey-Lillie-McGill Funeral Homes. Mr. Mooney was born in Plainview and moved to Dimmitt in 1930. He graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1948 and was an athlete. He farmed in Dimmitt until 1952, then moved to Borger where he worked in the parts department for Joy-Youts Motor Co. until 1961. He returned to Dimmitt and farmed until 1975. Mr. Mooney had worked for Goodpasture and Amstar in Dimmitt and then as a mail carrier until his death. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt. He married Phyllis Youts in 1947 at Dimmitt. Survivors include his wife; a son, Joe D. Mooney of Amarillo; five daughters, Judy Moore of Sunray, Janice Davis of Amarillo, Jane Ann Coffin of Mont Belvieu, Susie White of Dimmitt and Janet Wohlgemuth of Deer Park; a brother, Jack W. Mooney of Lakewood, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 29, 2000 James R. Schuneman PAMPA - James R. "Jimmie" Schuneman, 65, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Leif Hasskarl, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Schuneman was born in Muskogee, Okla., and graduated from Pampa High School in 1953. He earned an associate's degree from Frank Phillips College in 1959 and a bachelor's degree from Finley Engineering College in Kansas City, Mo., in 1962. He was mechanic third class in the Navy, serving from 1956 to 1962 when he went to the Naval Reserve. He was coowner of Hogan Construction which he purchased in 1977 and closed in 1983. He obtained his insurance license in 1999, worked as a salesman for United American Insurance and began working at Pacesetters in Amarillo in November. Mr. Schuneman was a member of the Salvation Army Pampa Corps Advisory Board and had served as president of Jarmila Inc. An instructor for the National Rifle Association, he taught for the 4-H Club and worked with the Boy Scouts. He held a ham radio operators license and was a member and trustee of the Zion Lutheran Church. He married Sandra Rogers Gist in 1980 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Julianna "Julie" Schuneman of the home; a stepdaughter, Barbara Hughes of Pampa; a stepson, Bob Gist of Amarillo; and five grandchildren. He began working at Donley County State Bank in Clarendon in 1928 and retired in 1995 as a bank officer. He was instrumental in the building and development of Lake Greenbelt. He was longtime member of the Clarendon Lions Club and the Clarendon Masonic Lodge No. 700. He also was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Clarendon. Mr. Knorpp married Gertrude Dorris Parr in 1932 at Long Beach, Calif. She died in 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Dorris Bliss Knorpp of Clarendon; a son, Wesley Parr Knorpp of Rowlett; three grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and the Colonial Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She married C.D. Oringderff in 1942 at Roswell, N.M. Burial will be in Logan Cemetery. Mr. Vigil was born in Obar and had been a longtime resident of Quay County and the Logan area until moving to Clovis in May. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 804 Tank Destroyers and obtaining the rank of sergeant. He retired as foreman from the Rock Island Railroad and worked as a cowboy on ranches in the Logan and Obar area. Mr. Vigil was a member of the San Antonio Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Tucumcari and the American Legion Post in Logan.
