Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Mullin officiating. Burial will be in Silverton Cemetery at Silverton by MyersLong Funeral Directors. Mrs. Clemmer was born in Young County. She moved to Briscoe County in 1935 and to Silverton in 1936. She had been a nurse, kindergarten teacher and school lunch room worker, retiring in 1985. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She married James R. Clemmer in 1926 at Scurry County. He died in 1983. She also was preceded in death by a son, J.R. Clemmer in 1931; and two daughters, Lucy Souter and Jo Suter, both in 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Roma Swindel of Plainview; three sons, Milton Clemmer of Napa, Calif., Buford Clemmer of Upland, Calif., and James Clemmer of Silverton; a brother, Don Jones of May; two sisters, Katherine Moore of Hamlin and Betty Galaway of Abilene; nine grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Ray, 83, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in United Baptist Church with the Rev. Lawrence Walker of Dallas officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park at Plainview. Arrangements are by WoodDunning Funeral Home. Mr. Ray was born in Waco. He grew up and attended schools in Marlin. He moved to Plainview in 1945 and worked on the W.T. Bowser farm. In 1952 he went to work at Cooper Pontiac and Cadillac. He later worked for Hale County State Bank and the Hilton Hotel. He retired in 1995 as custodian for Plainview Independent School District. He was a member and deacon of United Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Knight & Pythias Masonic Lodge. He married Louise Ray in 1939 at Groesbeck. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Kurtis Hooker of Amarillo; a daughter, Karmyn Hooker of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Jim Hooker of Pampa; and four grandchildren. She moved to Friona from Dimmitt in 1957. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ She married Milford L. Howard in 1931 at Olney. He died in 1973. Mr. Barnett was born in Fannin County. He moved to Bailey County from California in 1932. He was an Army veteran of World War I. He farmed in the Muleshoe area. He married Ida McMurtry in 1971 at Muleshoe. "Buster" McWilliams, 90, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. McWilliams was born in McGregor. He graduated from Speegleville High School and moved to the Ellen community near Plainview in 1929. He retired from farming in 1970. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Adult II Sunday school class. Mr. McWilliams married Virginia Carden in 1938. She died in 1977. He married Reda Faye Wright Hanna in 1979 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Francis Ann Harris of Garland; a sister, Juanita Aylesworth of Plainview; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Warrick was born in Childress County. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1932. She married Velman Warrick in 1933 at Childress County and they operated Warrick's Inc. She retired in 1983. He died in 1988. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a former Sunday school teacher and superintendent. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the 1924 Study Club. Mrs. Warrick was preceded in death by a son, Glen Warrick, in 1992. Survivors include two sons, Bill Warrick of Amarillo and Dan Warrick of Hereford; a daughter, Frances Holland of Wellington; a brother, Dean Durfey of Bella Vista, Ark.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Buchanan Street Baptist Church, where she was active in Women's Missionary Union. She was a sales clerk at Levines and worked at The Haven, a women's recovery center. She was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and served on the board of the Men's Alcoholic Recovery Centers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Carter. Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Hunt of Amarillo; a son, Joe Jicha of Amarillo; two brothers, James McElhannon of Rome and Bill McElhannon of Dallas; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Mr. Pierce was born in Childress, Texas. In 1923 he moved with his family to the Pleasant Hill community, where they farmed. He was a longtime resident of Curry County. He graduated from Pleasant Hill School in 1930. He was involved in bringing electric and telephone service to the Pleasant Hill area. He was a Baptist. He married Gladys in 1936 at Clovis. Saiz FORT SUMNER, N.M. - Willie J. Saiz, 70, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Fort Sumner Community House. Burial will be in Fort Sumner Cemetery by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Saiz was born and raised in Fort Sumner. He served in the Army from 1950 to 1953. He moved to Pueblo, Colo., where he worked at the Pueblo Army Depot. After retiring in 1985 he returned to Fort Sumner. Mrs. Elliott was born in Allensville, Ky. She married Olas Elliott in 1931 at Curry County. They farmed and operated a dairy farm in the Ranchvale community. In 1964 they moved to Clovis, where she kept books for her husband's business, A1 Alignment. He preceded her in death. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and the Portair Homemakers Club. Survivors include a son, Gary Elliott of Clovis; a daughter, Evelyn Downey of Clovis; two sisters, Willie Reid of Clovis and Hallie Richardson of Artesia; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Terry Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by BunchRoberts Funeral Home. Mrs. Bryan was born in Guymon and was a lifelong resident. She worked at Guymon Public Library from the mid1960s until November and was head librarian from 1968 to 1993. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and church organist from the mid-1950s until 1998. She was an artist and a member of the Merry Glazers. She married Joseph Elbert Bryan in 1941. Survivors include her husband; a son, Chesley Duane Bryan of Newcastle; a daughter, Loretta Ann Hight of Sapulpa; and a granddaughter. Mrs. Roybal was born in Boise City. She attended Guymon schools and was a member of Living Word Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Lynn Johnson. Whelpley Sr., 79, of Vancouver, Wash., and formerly of Hooker, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, in Portland, Ore. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Whelpley was born in Center Barnstead, N.H. He worked as a fund raiser, currently working for Christian Record Services for the Blind. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hooker and an Army veteran. He married Lauretta Juanita Klopfenstein in 1942 at Takoma Park, Md. She died in 1994. Survivors include a son, William W. Whelpley of Hooker; a brother, Robert Whelpley of Sun City West, Ariz.; four sisters, Betty Wullich of Batavia, N.Y., Judy Hickman of Elkhart, Ind., Beverly Schmell of Hornell, N.Y., and Joyce Mason of Malden, S.C.; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Daily News, Nov. 29, 2000 Charles Wayne Custer LOGAN, Okla. - Charles Wayne Custer, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in Oklahoma City. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in United Methodist Church in Booker, Texas, with the Rev. Carl Thorell officiating. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery in Booker by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mr. Custer was born in Elmwood. He attended Lone Star Country School and high school in Balko. In 1936 he moved to a farm in Beaver County and in 1947 he moved to the Logan area, where he started a farming operation with his wife. He was president of Darrouzett Co-op Association for 20 years and served on the Beaver County Soil Conservation Board and the Oklahoma Economic Development Association. He was instrumental in establishing Booker Equity. In 1977 he and his wife were honored as Beaver County's Farm Bureau Family of the Year. The Texas FFA awarded him the Texas Honorary Lone Star Degree in 1989. He trained cow dogs. He married Georgia Ellen Tilton in 1936 at Beaver, Okla. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Elaine Balch of Hydro, Norma Laurie of Booker and Linda Ray of Shamrock, Texas; two brothers, Desley Custer and Leslie Custer, both of Booker; three sisters, Isabel Barnett of Perryton, Texas, Ruth Albin of Follett, Texas and Bernita Brower of Booker; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
