Mrs. Jones was born in Memphis and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. After graduating from McMurray College, she received a master's degree from West Texas State College and taught third grade at Sanborn Elementary. She retired in 1975. She married Oscar Womack in 1939. He died in 1973. She married Melvin Jones in 1975. He died in 1990. Survivors include two sons, Joe Womack of Edmond, Okla., and Richard Womack of Amarillo; a sister, Carmen Vaughn of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Co-owner of a restaurant, she was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Guadalaponis. She married Ignacio N. Palacio in 1924 at Lubbock. He died in 1992. Her son, Orlando Palacio, died in 1990. Her daughter, Olivia Campian, died in 1960. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Cash was born in Sulphur Springs. She had lived in Pampa for 61 years, moving from Graham. She was a member of the McCullough Street Church of Christ. She married Leonard Cash in 1937 at Sulphur Springs. They owned Leonard's Shine Parlor. He died in 1999. She also was preceded in death by a son, Derrell Cash, in 1985. Survivors include three daughters, Lena Henry, Margrette Nickelberry and Claudette Deason, all of Pampa; three sons, Edward Cash and Joe Cash, both of Pampa and Larry Cash of Altadena, Calif.; 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church by the Rev. Jim McGhee, pastor. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Hein was born and raised in Tulsa, Okla. After high school he served in the military during World War II. He moved to Dalhart and worked as an electrician for Caviness Meat Packing and the city of Dalhart. He retired from the city in 1988. He owned and operated Junior High Supply. Mr. Hein was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. A bowler, he was secretary of the Men's Bowling Association in Dalhart. Mr. Lackey was born in Spearman and was a lifetime resident. He graduated from Spearman High School in 1982 and from Clarendon College in 1984. He was a farmer and rancher. In 1985 he became an emergency medical technician and later a paramedic in Spearman and for Amarillo Medical Services and West Air. He was a member of the Confederate Air Force and received the Silver Magnolia Blossom award in October. He was an aviator and restored World War II military vehicles. He married Linda Evans in 1992 at St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Morgan Lackey of Spearman; his parents, Joel Lee and Joyce Lackey of Gruver; a sister, Janyth Bowers of Pampa; and a grandmother, Alta Putman of Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Corpus Christi with the Rev. Shane Kinneson, of Parkdale Baptist in Corpus Christi, officiating. Mrs. Amos was born in Moran. A former longtime resident of Corpus Christi, she moved to Dumas in June. She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith. She married James E. Amos in 1915 at Orange Grove. He died in 1956. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Clyde Amos and J.E. Amos Jr.; and by two daughters, Bessie Merle McConnell and Lorene Rives. Survivors include three daughters, Louise Jameson and Oletha Halk, both of Dumas and Rosalie Amos of Baton Rouge, La.; 17 grandchildren; 41 greatgrandchildren; and 50 great-great-grandchildren. Greg Kennedy, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Wade was born and raised in Quanah. He graduated from Quanah High and received honors as all-state halfback. He graduated from North Texas State, where he lettered three years in football. He coached football, track and basketball. In 1971, he coached the Jacksboro football team to State Championship and coached numerous state track championships. Mr. Wade taught biology at Quanah High School. He was team captain for the Relay for Life, American Cancer Society and a member of the Texas High School Coaching Association. He married Bettina Ellis in 1965 at Quanah. Mrs. Igou was born in Ellis County, Okla., and had lived in the Perryton area since 1939, moving from Follett. She graduated from Follett High School and was secretary for Perryton Independent School District superintendent from 1949 to 1957. She earned her bachelor's degree in 1958 and her master's degree in 1961 from West Texas State College. Mrs. Igou taught in Lipscomb County, Spearman and Perryton, until retiring in 1976. Later, she became a Realtor for Century 21. In 1980, she was named Business and Professional Women's Organization Career Woman of the Year. She was a member of the BPW, the Order of the Eastern Star, the AARP and the Delta Kappa Gamma. She married Chilion Igou in 1925. He died in 1956. Survivors include her son, Jack Igou of Borger; four grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Mrs. Patterson was born in Helso, Okla., and had lived in Borger for the past 53 years. She was supervisor of the water department for the city of Borger, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She married John L. Patterson in 1939. He died in 1969. Mrs. Thornton was born in Clay County and grew up in McAdoo. In 1938, she moved to Plainview and attended Lippert's Business College. She later attended Wayland Baptist University and was a graduate of the Texas Trust School of Banking. She worked for Hale County State Bank, retiring as senior vice president and head of the trust department in 1988. Mrs. Thornton was a member of the Millennium Singers, the Hospital Auxiliary, Women's Division Chamber of Commerce, College Heights Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Group. She was awarded Citizen of the Year in 1995. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Dorn, pastor, and the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Pampa, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Bell was born in Twitty. He attended Center and Shamrock schools and graduated from Pharr High School. He played football and was in the high school band. In 1949, he moved to Shamrock. He served on the Shamrock school board and as chairman of the board. He helped organize the Wheeler County TV translator. He was a member and chairman of the building committee of the First United Methodist Church, the Shamrock General Hospital, the Masonic Lodge, and the Red River Savings and Loan. Mr. Bell was a Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge, a Rainbow Dad for the Order of the Rainbow Girls and a Shriner. He retired in 1973 from ranching. He married Marian Dumont in 1929. She died in 1947. He married Juanita Stevenson in 1949 at Wheeler. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Doris Taylor of Lubbock, JoAn Seago of Borger and Barbara Burkhalter of Plano; three sisters, Zoe Collinsworth of Shamrock, Ruth Clark of Victoria and Helen Doffing of McAllen; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Ely was born in Thornfield, Mo., and moved to Cushing, Okla., in 1913. After working at Consolidated Gas Co. as a manager in Garber, Okla., and Fairview, Okla., he worked for Skelly Oil Co. in Pampa, retiring in 1969. He was a member of the Skellytown Masonic Lodge No. 1391, where he twice served as Worshipful Master. He was a member of First Christian Church in Garber, where he taught the Boy's Sunday School Class. He later was a member of Fairview Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and worked with Young Peoples Department and then of Highland Baptist Church in Pampa. He was past president of Highland Senior's Club and Men's Brotherhood and was a member of the Adult Men's Class. He married Lola Robison in 1925 at Vernon. She died in 1986. He married Opal DeHay in 1988 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles Ely of Pampa; a daughter, Norma Hensley of Pampa; a sister, Linnie Watkins of Agra, Okla.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Poage was born in Coleman, Texas, and moved to Clovis in 1917. She married James Hill in 1940 and worked as a secretary and office manager for Rowley, Davis, Hammond and Murphy Law Office. After she retired, she worked for McDaniels Furniture as a bookkeeper. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Joe Murray, minister of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Robberson was born near McAlister and graduated from Tucumcari High School in 1928. He retired as a switchman from Southern Pacific Railroad. Ewers CLOVIS, N.M. - Walter C. Ewers, 79, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dick Rose officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories. Mr. Ewers was born in Stephenville, Texas, and moved to Clovis in 1944. After serving with the Army during World War II, he worked as a construction superintendent for K. Barnett & Sons, Marshalls Construction and Broce Construction. A captain in the New Mexico Air National Guard, he was a member of First Baptist Church and the Clovis Masonic Lodge No. 40 AF&AM. He married Cleta Droke in 1946 at Morton, Texas. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel in Canyon, Texas. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth, Texas, with the Rev. James McGhee, pastor of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Dalhart, Texas, officiating, and Jerome Brockman, deacon of the church, assisting. Burial will be in Umbarger Catholic Cemetery at Umbarger, Texas. Mr. Wilhelm was born in Waterflow and graduated from Nazareth High School in 1946. A farmer, he moved to Tucumcari in 1953, to Umbarger in 1961, and to Dalhart in 1975. He returned to Tucumcari in 1988. From 1981 until 1988, he was a selfemployed truck driver. In Tucumcari, he was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. His son, Marian Wilhelm, preceded him in death. He married Christina Friemel in 1952 at Umbarger. Survivors include four daughters, Janet M. Reinart of Stratford, Texas, Judy C. Head of Oxford, Ala., Joyce M. Lumpkin of Grapevine, Texas, and Jennifer L. Wilhelm of Irving, Texas; seven sons, Andrew of Henderson, Colo., Lloyd H. Wilhelm of Aztec, Daniel R. Wilhelm and Tim J. Wilhelm, both of Amarillo, Wade B. Wilhelm of San Diego, Gerald F. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home of Helena. Mr. Haines was born and raised in Amarillo. He had lived in Guymon and worked for Reds Construction. He later was self-employed before moving to Ringwood in 1978. He was a dispatcher for Hamm and Phillips and a member of the First Baptist Church. He married Wilma Jean Scott in 1951 at Tucumcari, N.M. She died in September. Survivors include three children, Tonja Haines of Enid and twins, Denece Robinson and Derral Haines, both of Ringwood; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday in Price-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Quanah, with the Rev. Clinton Young, minister of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Quanah Memorial Park. Mr. Beaty was born in Crowell. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a painter and paper hanger. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and church choir. He was a Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Steele Beaty, in 1963; and by his second wife, Laverne Holly Beaty, in 1992. He married Barbara Rous in 1992. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Doug Beaty of Austin and Russell Beaty of Edmond, Okla.; two daughters, Linda Finlin of Marble Falls and Beverly Graham of Burnet; three sisters, Dorothy Akers of Quanah, Theresa Langford of Porter and Nancy Loveless of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. "Marv" Calliham, 84, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kent Melcher officiating. Private services will be at a later date in Highland Cemetery at Ottawa. Arrangements are by Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Homes. Mr. Calliham was born in Abbott, Colfax County, N.M. He grew up in Conway, Texas, and graduated from Canyon High School at Canyon, Texas. He earned his bachelor's degree in sociology at West Texas State University. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps, retiring as lieutenant colonel. He was a farmer and rancher in Conway. In 1946, he farmed in the Lexington, Neb., and Cozad, Neb., areas. He moved to Lexington in 1958 and worked for Farmland Industries as field manager. In 1960, he moved to Kansas City, Mo., where he was director of management training and procurement at the Farmland Industries home office. Mr. Calliham moved to Ottawa in 1975 and managed Ottawa Co-op until retiring in the late 1970s. Later he worked as a real estate agent. He was a member and certified lay speaker of the First United Methodist Church. He was a member of the United Methodist Men, a teacher for Sunshine Sunday school class, and a member of the Ottawa Rotary Club. He served on the Ottawa city commission and was past Mayor of Ottawa. He married Madge Young in 1946 at Cozad. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carol Ann Schutte of Tucson, Ariz., Julia Cristine Soth of Fairfield, Iowa, and Mary Jane Brookesher of Littleton, Colo.; three sisters, Melba Miller and Opal M. Herndon, both of Panhandle, Texas, and Mildred McWhirter of Amarillo; two brothers, Melvin R. Calliham of College Station and Max Calliham of Lake Quivira, Kan.; six grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church foundation for Camp Chippewa Scholarships; or the Heifer Project International. Memorials will be accepted by the funeral home.
