Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donna Johnston, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Rockwell was born on July 2, 1918, to Ira and Gorda Unsell, in Groom. She married Marshall Harris Rockwell in Canyon on Nov. 20, 1937. Since 1937, she had lived in the Canyon community, where she helped her husband farm and ranch. She loved to play the organ and did china painting, water color and oil painting. Mrs. Rockwell was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; and a sister, Mary Downing, in 1991, Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Jean Rockwell of Bellevue, Neb.; a sister, Iris Daray of El Paso; a grandson, Ambrose Rockwell of Bellevue; a granddaughter, Aura Rockwell of Omaha; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Kruse of Omaha and Logan Rockwell of Davenport, Iowa; a niece, Gail Field of Amarillo; a nephew, Scott Downing of Commerce; and numerous nieces and nephews. Amarillo Globe-News July 1, 2001 New Mexico Vera A. Russell ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Vera A. "Grandma" Russell, 101, of Albuquerque and Los Lunas, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Wood officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Masonic Cemetery at Las Vegas. Arrangements are by French Mortuary of Albuquerque. Mrs. Russell, a resident of Albuquerque and Los Lunas since 1953, was born in Indian Territory and moved to western Oklahoma in a covered wagon. She then moved to Kansas to go to school. She married Roscoe Russell Sr., in 1919. She worked as a cook manager in Las Vegas and Albuquerque public schools and the Ghost Ranch. Mrs. Russell was a member of Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include three sons, Roscoe C. Russell Jr. of Los Lunas, James W. Russell and wife, Gerry, of El Paso, Texas, and Rex Russell of Odessa, Texas; two daughters, Lahoma Cook of Amarillo, Texas, and Imogene Russell of Los Lunas; 14 grandchildren, Carol, Paul, Beth, Donna, Sharron, Bonnie, Melva, Joanne, James Jr., Selinda, Dennis, Gretta, Michael and Susan; 22 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; six great-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Raintree Christian Church with the Rev. Charles Carman and the Rev. Lanny Hemmings officiating. Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home. Mr. Harvey was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Plemons. He had worked at Benton Oil and as a salesman for Phillips Petroleum. A veteran of the Marine Corps, he was a member of Raintree Christian Church and Yellowhouse Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Jean; three daughters, April Morehead and Leigh Lewis, both of Lubbock, and Jane Bailey of Dallas; a son, Cary Harvey of Dallas; a sister, Joyce Nichols of Ruidoso, N.M.; a brother, Pat Harvey of Borger; and four grandchildren. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Anson was an Army veteran of World War II. He served as minister for more than 45 years in Nebraska and Minnesota. Amarillo Globe-News July 1, 2001 Ray C. Sinclair Ray C. Sinclair, 68, of Amarillo, died Thursday, June 28, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Ivy Chapel at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. J. Alan Ford, pastor of Southwest Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites by San Jacinto Lodge No. 1330. Mr. Sinclair was born in Amarillo. He was a lifetime resident. After graduating from Amarillo High School in 1952, he worked in warehouses at Amarillo Air Force Base and the Borden's Plant. He later worked for Southwestern Investment Corp., where he served as branch manager and supervisor. He also worked as a vice president at Western National Bank for 15 years; and as a banking officer for Boatmen's for five years and NationsBank for two years. He was a York Rite and Scottish Rite Mason and a member of San Jacinto Masonic Lodge No. 1330. He was also a member of Khiva Temple and Khiva Patrol, which selected him Man of the Year in 1992. Survivors include his wife, Fayrene Sinclair; three daughters, Tanna King and Toni Seymour, both of Amarillo, and Raelene Steffen of Hereford; a brother, B.G. Georgia St. Mr. Dunavin was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Caprock High School. For the past 12 years he worked as a service technician for Energas. He was a member of Maverick Boys and Girls Club Alumni and Westside Church of Christ. He loved to be outdoors and to hunt and fish. As a devoted father, he loved to do anything for his children. He will be missed and loved by his entire family. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Mr. Shelton was a lifetime resident of Moore County. He was a laborer for Lewis Construction. Palmer SHAMROCK - Jessie L. "J.L." Palmer, 89, died Saturday, June 30, 2001. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Shamrock Cemetery with Don Conner, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Palmer moved to Wheeler County in 1948. He had farming and ranching interests in Wheeler and Collingsworth counties for many years. Survivors include three sons, Rex Palmer of Plains, Kan., Conny Palmer of Shamrock and John Palmer of Dallas; a daughter, Nekita "Nikki" Palmer of Dallas; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News July 1, 2001 L.G. Wilson L.G. Wilson, 76, died Friday, June 29, 2001. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Central Church of Christ with Trey Morgan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park at Plainview by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Wilson was raised in Anson. He graduated from Anson High School. From 1944 to 1945, he served with the Navy during World War II. He married Elaine Halbert on June 16, 1949, at Sweetwater. In 1950, he graduated from Abilene Christian University at Abilene, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He later coached in Brownfield, Weatherford and Temple. He was head football coach and athletic director in Winters, Floydada and from 1983 to 1990 in Tulia. He retired in 1990. He was a lifetime member of the Texas High School Coaches Association and was inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor in 1979. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, DeAun and David Criswell of Plainview; a son and daughter-in-law, Stan L. and Angela Wilson of Sante Fe, N.M.; two brothers, Dee Wilson of Rising Star and Del Wilson of Lampasas; a sister, Ladelle Green of Abilene; and five grandchildren, Marisa and Kadyn, both of Sante Fe, and Taryn, Todd and Ty, all of Plainview. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Living Word Fellowship at Guymon, Okla., with Pastor Leon Lothman officiating. Burial will follow in Texhoma Cemetery at Texhoma. Arrangements are by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Directors of Guymon. The daughter of Gary and Judy (Hamilton) Unruh, Miss Unruh was born Dec. 15, 1976. She was a social worker for the State of Oklahoma Youth Prevention Program. Survivors include her mother; a sister, Laci Unruh of Texhoma; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hamilton of Texhoma and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Unruh of Dalhart; and great-grandmother, Nellie Miller of Stratford.
