Richard Laverty, pastor of First Baptist Church of Farwell, officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Lawlis married Doris Steed on Dec. 31, 1938, at Hamlin. He lived in Bovina for 50 years and owned and operated Lawlis Gin. He was a former member of Bovina School Board and served as director of Bovina Chamber of Commerce. In 1997, he sold the gin and moved to Lubbock where he lived until March 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 23, 1998. He was employed by Wheeler Schools for 22 years until his retirement in 1990. He was employed by First Baptist Church of Wheeler as custodian for 29 years and was also a member. He was reared at Julia Dykeman Andrus Children's Home in Yonkers, N.Y., where he met his future wife, Matilda "Tillie" McFarlane, who was also a resident of the home. He attended art school in Newark, N.J. He married Matilda in 1946 in Mount Vernon, N.Y. He was a World War II veteran of the Marines. He was an exhibit artist for the Newark Public Library before moving to California in 1960. He was an exhibit artist at the Riverside Museum in Riverside, Calif., until he moved to Amarillo in 1980. He served as an exhibit artist for the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum for 10 years until his retirement in 1990. After retirement, he was a free-lance mural artist in Amarillo for 10 years. Mr. Glazener was born Jan. 15, 1912, at Estelline, to Victor and Della Wilson Glazener. He married Esther Davis at Sayer, Okla., in 1933. They lived in Vega until 1940 and lived in the tri-state area until 1942. They moved to Dalhart and lived there until 1989 when they moved to Canyon. He was a brakeman/conductor for the Burlington and Rock Island Railroads and retired with more than 50 years of railroading. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996; two sisters, Thelma V. Davis in 1997 and Ruth Ashmead; and a brother, Dewey Glazener in 1968.
