Johnson, 69, died Friday, March 30, 2001. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Chapel of the Fountains at Brown Funeral Directors with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. in Elmhurst Cemetery at Guymon, Okla., with the Rev. Lloyd Riddles, pastor of Sunset Lane Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 17, 1932, nine miles north of Friona, to Arthur Eugene Johnson and Myrtle Frances Hilton Johnson. He was 69 when he went to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Waddell. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1951 and started his employment with Southwestern Public Service in Dec., 1951. He was drafted into the Army in Dec., 1952. He was in the Artillery Division. He served two years and was honorably discharged. On Dec. 10, 1954, he married Patricia Ann Bronson. He resumed employment with Southwestern Public Service and retired as a general foreman in 1997 after 45 years of loyal employment. Mr. Johnson was an active member of the Guymon Lions Club until his transfer to Borger, where he had lived for the past 14 years. He was a very devoted and loyal husband. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren more than life itself. They were his life. He always gave of himself and never asked for anything in return. He was always there for his wife, children and grandchildren, lending a helping hand and never asking why because it didn't matter. He loved his family so much that he didn't care why they needed him. He was just glad he could always help. He always had to stay busy; he loved being at the ranch working on things and taking care of the horses. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We cannot possibly imagine life without him. We will never forget our beloved husband, father and grandpa, because he will always live in our hearts forever. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy Charles Johnson and wife Nancy of Guymon and Robert Eugene Johnson and wife Vickie of Elk City, Okla.; a daughter, Donna Kay "Ketcherside" Esser and husband J.B. of Kismet, Kan.; a sister, Leota Bolding of Granbury; four grandchildren, Jeremiah and Nicole Johnson of Guymon, Monica Cox and husband Brian of Plains, Kan., Jimmy Ketcherside of Kismet; three great-grandchildren, Baleigh Watson and Jayden Johnson of Guymon and Logan Cox of Plains. Honorary casketbearers are Emmett Rice, Bob Crump, Scott Hindman, Dennis Hood, Ricky Boaldin and Bobby Boaldin. Amarillo Daily News April 2, 2001 Jacinto Cruz HEREFORD - Jacinto Cruz, 93, died Saturday, March 31, 2001. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the chapel at Parkside Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in San Jose Catholic Church with Father Adalberto Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Mr. Cruz was born Aug. 16, 1907, in Devine, to Cersepin and Alvina Cruz. He married Maria Garcia on July 22, 1939, at Weslaco. Survivors include six sons, Ruben Cruz of Folly, Ala., Rene Cruz of Amarillo, Raymondo Cruz of Canyon, Ramiro Cruz of Alvin, Raul Cruz of Hereford and Rolando Cruz of San Angelo; four daughters, Alvina Garza, Juanita Gonzales and Clerida Cruz, all of Hereford, and Sarah Margo of Arlington; 35 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News April 2, 2001 Dennis Ballinger DALHART - Dennis Ballinger, 57, died Saturday, March 31, 2001. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Peoples Church with Jerry Davis, pastor, and the Rev. Stephen Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Ballinger was born Oct. 20, 1943, in Dalhart, to Calvin and Mildred "Gumper" Ballinger. He attended schools in Dalhart and graduated from Dalhart High School. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to Dalhart and worked as an aerial applicator for many years before becoming a police officer for the Dalhart Police Department. He was a locksmith and owned The Can Opener and was owner/operator of the Olde Donut Shoppe. He currently worked for the TDCJ Dalhart Unit. He attended Peoples Church, Lakeview United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Tim Ballinger of Dumas and Chris Ballinger of Pampa; a daughter, Ingrid Ballinger of Dalhart; his parents, Calvin and Mildred Ballinger of Dalhart; a sister, Frances Childers of Sunray; a brother, Barry Ballinger of Lubbock; and three grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News April 2, 2001 Amarillo Judy Stevens Judy Stevens, 61, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 31, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in God's Covenant Family Church, 804 Bryan, with Pastor Don Morgan officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Dumas Cemetery at Dumas by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Stevens was born July 4, 1939, at Laguna Beach, Calif. She moved to the Texas Panhandle at a young age. She attended Stratford High School and Amarillo College. She married Charles L. Stevens in 1982 at Dumas. She worked as a homemaker, at Diamond Shamrock and was a supervisor at a processing plant. She was a member of God's Covenant Family Church. Mrs. Stevens passed away after a 20-year struggle with multiple sclerosis. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Brady Jr., in 1977. Survivors include her husband and caretaker, Charles; two daughters, Alayna Mosteller of Dallas and Anna Holman of Dalhart; two sons, James Mosteller of Pampa and Marcus Mosteller of Panhandle; two sisters, Claire McCabe of Dumas and Shirley Null of Las Vegas; two brothers, Melvin Fowler of Amarillo and Wayne Fowler of Albuquerque, N.M.; and 10 grandchildren. Vegh, 86, of Amarillo, died Friday, March 30, 2001. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Brentwood Chapel at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Davlyn Duesterhaus officiating. Private burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Vegh, his wife and two children fled Hungary during the Revolution and settled in the Pittsburgh area, where he worked for the Dravo Corp. and managed apartment buildings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Magda Vegh, in 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Gibson of Dallas; and a son, Attila Vegh of Amarillo. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Hensel retired in 1976 after more than 30 years with West Texas News Agency (Hastings). She provided children's day care until she was 80 years old. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include a sister, Leona Hendricks of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews. Hughes St. Mrs. Fullylove was an Amarillo resident for 46 years. She was a member of Ebeneezer Church. Wiley Louise U. Wiley, 73, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 31, 2001. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Clarendon by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Wiley was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Enid, Okla. She graduated from Clarendon High School in 1947. She married Troy G. Wiley in 1947. She was a longtime active member of Temple Baptist Church and A.E. Shirley, Eastern Star Chapter No. 986 in Amarillo. She was past president of the ABWA Tascosa Chapter No. 3246 and this year's Woman of the Year for this chapter. Survivors include her devoted husband of 54 years; two sons, R.G. Wiley of Austin and Carl W. Wiley and wife Rosemary of Childress; three sisters, Lois Davis of Amarillo, Lola Carroll of Monett, S.C., and Lorna Thomason of Abilene; three brothers, Lewis Underdown of Kerrville, Leo Underdown of Fort Worth and Leon Underdown of Bristow, Okla.; three grandchildren, Kristin Strickler of Austin, Carie Wiley of Amarillo and Cory Wiley of DeSoto. Tevis, 102, died Friday, March 30, 2001. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Tevis was active with the Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Lance Clemmons officiating. Burial will be in Texico Cemetery. Mr. Wall retired as a car inspector in 1982 after 33 years with the AT&SF Railroad. He married Mary Heath on Nov. 24, 1947, at Muleshoe, Texas. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael Wall of Tularosa and Kevin Wall of Waldron, Ark.; three brothers, Lester Wall of Riverside, Calif., and Charlie Wall and Hershel Wall, both of Clovis; a sister, Lillian Brownlow of Clovis; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News April 2, 2001 Oklahoma Bonnie Lee Nobles FELT, Okla. - Bonnie Lee Nobles, 75, formerly of Felt, died Friday, March 30, 2001, in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001, in Felt Baptist Church with Billy Ramage officiating. Burial was in Bertrand Cemetery near Felt. Mrs. Nobles was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Felt, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orval H. and Anna M. Taylor. She was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Joann Leishman of Gambier, Ohio and Bonnie Louise Strout of Ardmore, Ala.; two sons, Clarence Lee Nobles of Burlington, Kan., and Orval Marion Nobles of Dittmer, Mo.; a brother, L.H. Taylor of Udall, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News April 2, 2001 Elsewhere Albert McGruder BROWNFIELD - Albert McGruder, 81, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001. Prayer services were held at 7 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Head Family Funeral Home. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Faith Temple Church with the Rev. I.B. Gibson officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery. Mr. McGruder worked for the railroad and later did odd jobs in Brownfield. He was a member of Faith Temple Church. Survivors include two sons, Larry McGruder and Harry McGruder, both of Fort Worth; a daughter, Michelle Fisher McGruder of Brownfield; two sisters, Luclie Britton and Ethle Whitney, both of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren.
