Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Bob Sweeten, pastor, the Rev. Jerry Stewart, pastor of First Baptist Church, and the Rev. Mark Metzger, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Taylor was a longtime resident of Stratford. He was a junior at Stratford High School. He was born Aug. 24, 1983, at Amarillo. He was a member of the Big Blue Band, the National Honor Society and the gifted and talented program. He was manager and trainer for three years for the basketball and football teams. The basketball team was state runner-up and the football team was 2000 state champion. Mr. Taylor served as vice president of his junior class and had been elected president of the senior class and student body. He participated in UIL and qualified for regionals in his sophomore year. He was named in Who's Who in American High School Students and Who's Who in Science his sophomore year. He was also active and led youth groups in his church. In June he attended the American Legion Texas Boys State. His grandfather, Jim Taylor, preceded him in death on Feb. 29, 1996. Survivors include his parents, Joe and Cathy Taylor of Stratford; a brother, Jordan Taylor of Stratford; grandparents, Helen Taylor of Stratford and Vera and Fred Cross of Stephenville; great-grandmother, Maudie Vance of Amarillo; aunts and uncles, Mary Sue and Marvin Cotton, Micky and Beth Cross, Jim and Olivia Cross and Tom Cross; and seven cousins. The family will be at 1305 N. Chestnut in Stratford. The family suggests memorials be to the Erich Taylor Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o First State Bank of Stratford and Dalhart. Amarillo Globe-News July 2, 2001 Arlene Mann RALLS - Arlene Mann, 75, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, in Crosbyton. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church at Ralls with the Rev. Floyd Haddock officiating and the Rev. Randy Bartley assisting. Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Mann was born Jan. 7, 1926, at Murray, Utah. She graduated from Murray High School. In 1947, she moved from Murray to Crosby County. A homemaker, she was a member of First Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery for 10 years. She was a member of the Crosby County Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She married C.E. Mann on Aug. 14, 1950, at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Donna Sue Mann of Amarillo; three brothers, Bryant Beeny and Reed Beeny, both of Salt Lake City, and Kenneth Beeny of Connecticut; and three sisters, Helen Burrows, Betty Coult and Shirley Hart, all of Murray. Amarillo Globe-News July 2, 2001 Amarillo Mae Ebra Lowe Dorrill Mae Ebra Lowe "Ma Dorrill", 101, of Amarillo and Mangum, Okla., died Saturday, June 30, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Greer Funeral Home at Mangum with the Rev. Jimmy Pitson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery at Mangum. Arrangements are by Greer Funeral Home of Mangum and Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Dorrill was a resident of Mangum for more than 75 years. She was born in Doddsville, Miss., on Nov. 16, 1899. She married Stanley Dorrill in 1915 in Mississippi. He preceded her in death. In 1930, she moved to Mangum to be near her brother, Dr. James T. Lowe, and her parents, James R. and Mary Angeline Lowe. In the 1930s, before the advent of nursing homes, Mrs. Dorrill transformed her home into separate apartments in order to take care of the elderly. She cooked wonderful homemade meals for them and cared for them in a loving, compassionate environment. Mrs. Dorrill was a gifted pianist, teaching herself to play "by ear" at the age of 7. She developed and continued playing the piano throughout her life. She played for Sunday school classes at the First Baptist Church at Mangum and regularly played for residents of the nursing home in Mangum. In October 1998, she came to live at the Craig Methodist Retirement Community in Amarillo. She remained a wonderful Christian witness to other residents of the nursing home as well as to the caregivers. Her sweet spirit, courteousness and compassion for others continued throughout her life. Mrs. Dorrill was preceded in death by two sons, Warren Dorril of Mangum, Eulan Dorrill of Altus and a daughter, Virginia Dorill Capps of Amarillo. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Bernice Daniels of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy "Dot" Dorrill of Mangum; grandchildren, Jim Dorrill of Garland, Janna di'Camillo of Tucson, Linda Boyd of Houston, Jill McDavitt of Garland, Joe Daniels of Myrtle Point, Ore., John Dorrill of Louisiana and Peter and Ginger Sample of Amarillo; nine great-grandchildren, Paul, Scott, Bill, Jamilyn, Autumn, Jolie, Harold, Jeff and John; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Stinson graduated from Paducah High School. He had lived in Amarillo for 13 years. Georgia St. Dr. Marchant was born in Paris. After graduating from Pampa High School, he received a master's degree from West Texas State College and a doctorate in education and business administration from North Texas State University. He was a certified licensed underwriter and began teaching insurance and real estate at West Texas State University in 1950. He was a member of numerous education and business organizations. During World War II, he served with the Army Air Corps in France, Germany and England. He received the Bronze Star. He studied and appraised gem stones and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi. Dr. Marchant was a Baptist. He married Pearl Chandler of Pampa. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lorraine Marchant of Amarillo; two sisters, Christine Clayton of Byers and Kathryn Tucker of Paris; and a granddaughter, Amber Marchant Tayama of Amarillo. Fifth Ave. Mrs. Haley moved to Amarillo in the 1940s from Oklahoma and had lived in San Bernardino, Calif., in the 1960s and 1970s. She retired from San Bernardino County Hospital in 1972. She returned to Amarillo in 1974. Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; and great-great-great nieces and nephews, including great niece, Linda Witt of Amarillo; and a great-great niece, Kathy Jones. Osage St. Ms. Tiernan was born in Des Moines, Iowa. She had lived in Amarillo since 1960. She was active as a leader in Girl Scouts of America in the 1960s. She was a manager of Subway in Canyon for eight years and retired two months ago. She attended St. Ann's Catholic Church at Canyon. She married Dick Tiernan in 1954 at Des Moines. He preceded her in death in 1977. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Walt Marlett and Peggy and Perry Bledsoe, all of Amarillo; a son, Terry Tiernan of Amarillo; a sister, Kathryn Berkley of Iowa; a brother, Ted Brightman of Iowa; two grandchildren, Josh Bledsoe and Leah Crowell, both of Amarillo; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Carol Tiernan; and a great-nephew, Scott Berkley of Iowa. Burial will be in Andrews Old Cemetery by McNett Funeral Home. Mr. Porter owned and operated a grocery store in Cole Pool, Okla., and later, Modern Food in Frankel City and Andrews. He married Margaret Owens Sears on Sept. 9, 1971, at Andrews. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Mickey Porter of Hereford, David Porter of Artesia, N.M., and Denny Porter of Andrews; a daughter, Billie Jones of Andrews; three stepsons, Owen Sears of Lubbock, Joel Sears of Houston and Robert Sears of Andrews; a sister, Elsa Lee Hunwardsen of Merced, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
