Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Danny Chisum, pastor of Beacon Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Coil worked for more than 30 years as a truck driver for Plains Transportation Inc. Survivors include two daughters, Jana Gibson and husband, Jeremy and Jenny Holt, all of Amarillo; and five grandchildren, Stephanie, Curtis, Janie, James and Annjela. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 2, 2001 V.B. Cook V.B. Cook, 69, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Reggie Smith officiating. Cremation was by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors. Mr. Cook was born at Dublin. He married Mary Jo Stephens in 1951 at Clovis, N.M. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 32 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a resident of Amarillo for many years. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Laura Sheehy of Rocklin, Calif.; a son, Dennis Cook of Amarillo; a brother, Lee Cook of Graham; three sisters, Wanda White of Elephant Butte, N.M., Joy Buckner of Graham and Tyne Reflogal of Kennedale; and three grandchildren, Rachel Cook of Denton, and Sara Sheehy and Liam Sheehy, both of Rocklin, Calif. "Jim" Robinson, 89, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jon Nichols of Amarillo Vineyard Christian Fellowship and the Rev. Barry Robinson, retired Presbyterian minister and Mr. Robinson's nephew, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Robinson moved to Amarillo from Dallas in 1931. He served in the Army from 1942-1945 during World War II. He then served as a reserve until 1972 and retired MS E-8. He worked for Bouris Elevator before working for Pantex and retiring in 1977. He was a charter member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. He married Mary Efird on April 4, 1942, at El Paso. He was preceded in death by his wife on July 14, 1991, at Amarillo. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Shelton of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Mary Conoley of Amarillo and Sallie Simmons of Charleston, W. Va.; three grandchildren, Kendra Nichols of Amarillo, Kathryn Brown of Yukon, Okla., and J.J. Conner BEAVER, Okla. - Carolyn M. Conner, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church with the Rev. Bill Moore officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service. Mrs. Conner was born on Feb. 14, 1922, at Beaver County. She married Lester Conner in 1944. Mrs. Weeks had lived in Texas County since 1929. She married Clarence P. Weeks in 1976. Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Mendenhall; a son, Don Winter, all of Guymon; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael DeVaughn, pastor of Carter Chapel CME Church, and the Rev. James Collins, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Mrs. Williams was born in Ennis and lived in Amarillo for 73 years. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. She retired from Santa Fe Railway in 1970. Survivors include a son, Douglas Williams of Amarillo; a brother, Phillip Williams of Houston; 25 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 2, 200 Amarillo Danny Hilburn Conklin Danny Hilburn Conklin, 66, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, in Houston. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. James E. Garrett, senior minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Conklin was born Dec. 12, 1934, at Shattuck, Okla., to Aline and Ivan Conklin. He grew up in Canadian and graduated from Oklahoma State University. He married Carolyn Kerns Conklin on Feb. 11, 1961, at Polk Street United Methodist Church. He was past chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America and the Amarillo Area Foundation in 1997. He was current chairman of U.S. Oil and Gas, formerly Mid Continent, and the Texas Oil and Gas Association. He was a board member of the Harrington Foundation and in 1996 served as chairman. He was a board member of Texas Banc Shares and First National Bank of Amarillo. He was a supporter of the Kidney Foundation of West Texas. In 1995, he was appointed to Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission by the governor. He was honored in 1996 by the Panhandle Producers and Royalty Association with the Living Legend Award. He was inducted into All American Wildcatters in 1999. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Todd H. Conklin and wife, Heather Ferguson Conklin of Tulsa, Okla., and Tim D. Conklin and wife, Yvonne Hrubesh Conklin of Houston; and two grandchildren, Jack Conklin and wife, Grace and Alexandra Harwell.
