Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Groom Cemetery at Groom with the Rev. Rob Seale, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery at Groom. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Neal was born Aug. 28, 1907, at Rhea, Ark., and was a resident of Portales, N.M., before moving to Clarendon in 1980. He married Dora Edith Brown on July 16, 1933, at Armstrong County. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2001. He had been a rancher much of his life before his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Clarendon. His son, Harold Neal, preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1999. Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Neal of Gun Barrel City, Frank Neal of Fort Collins, Colo., and Benny Neal of Ossian, Ind.; a sister, Bertha Knight of Groom; a brother, William J. Neal of Amarillo; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News June 3, 2001 Bill Robertson - Bill Robertson, 73, died Thursday, May 31, 2001. Private family services will be held at a later date in Restland Cemetery at Roxton. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40, in Amarillo. Mr. Robertson retired from the Army and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He worked for Wheeler-Evans Elevator in Groom for several years. Survivors include a son, Marshall Robertson of Groom; two daughters, Gayle Thomas of Plainview and Nickey Evans of Groom; two sisters, Evelyn Kerbow of Commerce and Virginia Tarter of Hawkins; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and special friend, La Wanda Redd. Kathryn Boren, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Armstrong was born in Hopkins, Minn. She had been a Panhandle resident since 1946, when she moved here from St. Louis Park, Minn. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Panhandle. She also was a member of the Atheneum Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Wives, 55 Plus Club and the Thursday Bridge Club. She married David Clinton Armstrong on Dec. 3, 1943, in Dallas. He preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1991. She also was preceded in death by a sister and a great-grandchild. Survivors include four sons, David Armstrong of Prescott, Ariz., Glenn Armstrong of Houston, John Armstrong of Greenville and Kenneth Armstrong of Leander; a daughter, Alice Upshaw of Claude; a brother, Arthur Goranson of Duluth, Minn.; two sisters, Helen Martin of Mountain View, Calif., and Ruth Smith of Topeka, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dougless was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Hobart, Okla., and had been a resident of Pampa since 1929. She married Jim Dougless on Jan. 6, 1951, in Pampa. She worked for Hilcoa Corp. for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Pampa Chapter No. 65 of the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Dougless was a secretary of the Pampa Army Airfield Reunion for 13 years. She was a board member of the Freedom Museum. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Rusty Davis and J. Kirk Dougless, both of Amarillo, and Robert S. Dougless of Hobbs, N.M.; four brothers, Lance Kenner Jr. of Houston, Bill P. Kenner of Pampa, Jack L. In 1952, they moved to Aztec, N.M., and opened a plumbing business, where she was the bookkeeper. In 1969, they moved to Albuquerque. Her husband died in 1979, and she moved to Amarillo in 1993. Survivor include a daughter, Judy Ann George of Fullerton, Calif.; a son, Duane Huey of Amarillo; two sisters, Ima Celln of Sapulpa, Okla., and Gladys Chapman of Grants, N.M.; a brother, Oran Perry of Aztec; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News June 3, 2001 Albert Boyd Albert "Eddie" Boyd, 81, of Amarillo, died Friday, June 1, 2001. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Richards of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Entombment will be at Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum in Portland, Ore. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Boyd moved to Amarillo in 1926, attended Johnson and Wilson Elementary Schools, and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1939. He enlisted in the Navy in 1940 and was serving aboard the USS West Virginia at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. He married Della Bonaduce of Portland in December 1943. She passed away March 11, 1985. He is a life member and past master of Sherwood Midday Lodge No. 164, a past member of the Al Kader Shrine Drum and Bugle Corps in Portland. He was also a member of Al Kader Shrine in Portland. After discharge from the Navy, he settled in Portland, where he worked for 34 years for the Union Pacific Railroad and retired in 1984. He returned to Amarillo in 1990 and married a former high school sweetheart, Marguerite Arnold Killian. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Boyd of the home; two daughters, Linda K. Hepola and Donna Rae Philbrick, both of Portland; a stepdaughter, Beth Unruth of Amarillo; a sister, Evelyn Frasher of Albuquerque; two brothers, E.C. Boyd of Portland and Francis Boyd of Oxnard, Calif.; three grandsons, Stephen Hepola, Ryan Philbrick and Randy Philbrick, all of Portland; five stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home in Friona. Jonathan was a lifetime resident of Amarillo. He was born on Dec. 15, 1986, in Amarillo. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Temple of Amarillo. He was an eighth- grade student at Horace Mann Middle School, where he was a member of the aviation club. His mother, Lori Fredrick, preceded him in death on July 15, 1998. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Hooker Gospel of Grace Church since 1956. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and an Awana helper. Survivors include a son, Bill Wilson of Marietta, Ga.; an adopted son, John Asakawa of Westfield, N.J.; a brother, Dale Davis of Monterey, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News June 3, 2001 Elsewhere Roy Scott McCartt AUSTIN - Roy Scott McCartt, 52, died Friday, June 1, 2001. There will be a small memorial gathering in Austin. Arrangements were by Austin Mortuary. Mr. McCartt was born in Amarillo. He had lived in Austin for the past 23 years. He graduated from Sewanee Military Academy in Tennessee. He attended the University of Oklahoma and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Scott was best known by his friends as being compassionate for others. He was always willing to take care of the needs of others regardless of the time of day or night. Survivors include his mother, Roy Ann McCartt of Amarillo; a brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Yoko McCartt of Mill Valley, Calif.; two nieces, Ami and Mayu, both of Mill Valley.
