Mr. Mounsey was born Feb. 8, 1915, in Booker, to Thomas and Minnie Howard Mounsey. During World War II he served with the 3rd Division of the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater and the Battle of Iwo Jima. He had been employed by Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. for 23 years. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; a daughter, Brandie Leigh Whitmire of Valley Ranch; his mother, Bernice Whitmire of Quanah; and two sisters, Edna Whitmire and Carol Whitmire of Quanah. Mr. Teel was born in Denton but grew up in Quanah and graduated from Quanah High School. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1953 to 1955. Amarillo Globe-News, July 4, 2001 Floyd Louis Leven PANHANDLE - Floyd Louis Leven, 69, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, in Amarillo. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. today in St. Theresa Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church by the Rev. Jim Hutzler. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery of Amarillo by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mr. Leven was born Nov. 6, 1931, in Moore County. He graduated from Panhandle High School. He served as a staff sergeant in the National Guard for 10 years. He farmed in Carson County his entire life. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. Mr. Leven was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Victoria Leven, in 1939. Survivors include two sisters, Lorraine Moore and Irene Kimball, both of Amarillo; a brother, Henry Leven of Panhandle; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to St. Theresa Catholic Church in Panhandle. Amarillo Globe-News, July 4, 2001 Marvin K. Wilcoxson CHILDRESS - Marvin K. "Buddy" Wilcoxson, 92, died Monday, July 2, 2001, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Arndt, pastor, and Bill Mayes of Childress Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Wilcoxson's contributions to Childress are numerous: Childress Rotary Club, Greenbelt Bowl, Chamber of Commerce, Masons and more. He received many honors through the years: the first Childress Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year, the Childress Index Lifetime Achievement Award. He also had served as elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Childress. He was active and gave generously in the drive to bring the T.L. Roach prison to Childress. A resident of Childress since 1930, Mr. Wilcoxson was born in Temple, Okla., May 4, 1909. He graduated from Electra High School in 1926, and attended Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn. He and Annie Maude "PoKey" Hankins were married in 1936. She died in 1974. He and Inez Privitt were married in 1977. She died in 2000. A retired Air Force colonel, he served in World War II and the Korean War. At his military retirement he was the Panhandle liaison officer to the Air Force Academy. Until his professional retirement, Mr. Wilcoxson was a Southwestern Life Insurance agent in Childress. Active in civic affairs in the Childress community, he was a proud member of Rotary Club with perfect attendance of 49 years. He was a past president and a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Wilcoxson also was a Master Mason, Shriner and Scottish Rite. Since the inception of Greenbelt Bowl, Mr. Wilcoxson was an active supporter, serving as president and in other positions. A Bobcat Booster, he annually presented Childress High School's "Most Valuable Player" award. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jim Wilcoxson and Nicki of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Kim Migliaccio of Lewisville and Jami Wilcoxson of Amarillo; two great-grandsons, Jordan Henry of Amarillo and Cole Migliaccio of Lewisville; a stepson, Jack Privitt of Little Rock, Ark.; two nieces, Arlyna Stewart of Waco and Lynza Barnett of Edinburg; and a nephew, Tom Hipps of Panama City, Fla. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Bennett was born Dec. 16, 1912, in Lipscomb. She moved to Canadian in 1937. She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church. Mrs. Bennett married Dr. Morris Bennett on Dec. 26, 1937, in Canadian. He died July 11, 1976. Mrs. Bennett was a member of First Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday school class. She also was a member of the PEO, Women's Club and the Merry Bidders Bridge Club. She was a china painter and past member of the Golden Spread Porcelain Art Club. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Flowers of Spearman; a son, Ben Bennett of Canadian; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. McCullin was born July 20, 1928, in Donley County. She was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. She married Morris McCullin on Oct. 7, 1975, in Amarillo. He preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded in death by a son, Johnathan, in 1962; a brother, Richard, in 1967; a sister, Emmalie Sisk, in 1998; and her mother, Sarah, in 1998. Survivors include three sons, Donald Geary and Roger Geary, both of Dallas and David Geary of Amarillo; a daughter, Bettie Geary of Amarillo; three brothers, Frank Corder of Clarendon and David Corder and Troy Corder, both of Midwest City, Okla.; three sisters, Sarah Geary and Ruth Price, both of Dallas and Elsie Herman of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Tasha, Melissa, Whitney, Adam, Heather, Brandy and David; and a great-grandson, Dakota Dale. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Vickery was born on July 4, 1952, in San Bernardino, Calif. She came to Pampa in 1969 from Orrville, Calif., and attended Pampa High School. She was a graduate of the Pampa College of Hairdressing. She was a professional hair stylist for 31 years. She owned and operated Benton's PHD in Pampa from 1994 to 1999 in Pampa. She was a member of the West Side Church of Christ in Pampa. Survivors include her husband, Mike Vickery; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Matthew and Darcy Benton of Amarillo and Jason Benton of Pampa; a daughter, Jana Kay Benton of Lockhart; her parents, John and Flora Keith of Edmond, Okla.; two brothers, Tom Keith of Edmond and Stan Johnson of Santa Maria, Calif.; a former husband, Jim Benton of Pampa; and several nieces and nephews. She moved to Amarillo in 1950 from Clovis. She married Alfredo Montoya in 1939 at Clovis. He died in 1997. Mrs. Montoya was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and also attended Blessed Sacrament Church and Central Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters, Delia Rodriguez, Frances Rodriquez and Beatrice Riley, all of Amarillo; three sons, Steve Montoya, Alfred Montoya and Albert Montoya, all of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Gonzales of Texico, N.M.; a brother, George Cervantez of Bovina; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She had lived in Amarillo from 1970 to 1973. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Shamrock Cemetery of Shamrock. Arrangements are by Abilene Funeral Home of Abilene. Mrs. McBride moved to Abilene from Shamrock in 1997. She was a member of the 11th Street Baptist Church in Shamrock. Survivors include four sons, Leland McBride and Lonnie McBride, both of Hobbs, N.M., Leon McBride of Albuquerque, N.M., and David Spangler of Phoenix; two daughters, Irlita Giacobbe of Midland and Anna Bagwell of Abilene; three half-sisters, Alyeane Hensley, Nan West and Lucy Paul; 28 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
