Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Colonial Chapel at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors with Dr. Derrell Monday, pastor, and the Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Parish, a resident of Pampa since 1947, recently moved to Kerrville. He worked in the oil field for 15 years before owning and operating H.O.A.D. Mobile Valve Service until retiring in 1994. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Sue of Kerrville; three daughters, Connie L. Samples of Plano, Donna S. Swift of Kerrville, and Elise Lee of Holland, Mich.; and five grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Groom United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle, in Amarillo. Mrs. Gray was born in Wheeling, W.V. She had lived in Groom for the past 12 years. A homemaker, she was a demonstration agent at Albertson's in Pampa. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Groom. She married Willis R. Gray Sr. on Aug. 12, 1941, at Wheeling. Survivors include her husband; four sons, Willis Roger Gray Jr., of Washington, Pa., Harvey Edward Gray of Groom, Richard Arlen Gray of Branson, Mo., and Ronald Neil Gray of Amarillo; a daughter, Shelvy Wilson of Amarillo; a brother, Wayne Philabaum of Elm Grove, W.V.; a sister, Mabel Goudy of Triadelphia, W.V.; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Mr. Cole graduated from Steamboat Springs High School and received a bachelor of science degree in forestry from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sunray by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Escobar was born Dec. 20, 1966, in Dalhart. He was a member of the Templo Bethel Assembly of God. He was a resident of Sunray for the past 18 years. Survivors include his parents, Gonzalo and Consuelo Rios of Sunray; a son Jarine Yazzi Escobar of Amarillo; two brothers, Gonzalo Rios Jr. of Sunray and Ruben Rios and wife, Linda, and family of Altus, Okla.; and a sister, Christina Hernandez and husband, Manuel, and family of Cactus. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 5, 2001 Grant Dion Barnes BORGER - Grant Dion Barnes, 38, formerly of Borger, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, in Salt Lake City. Services were held Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, in Salt Lake City. Burial was in Taylorsville Cemetery at Taylorsville, Utah. Arrangements were by Deseret Memorial Mortuary in Salt Lake City. Mr. Barnes was born July 10, 1963, to Linda Stinson and Robert Turnbow, in Borger. He was raised by his grandmother, Gwenlyn Barnes. He married the love of his life, Frankie Duran on March 10, 2001. He worked as maintenance supervisor at LDS Humanitarian Center with Frankie at his side. He loved the LDS Church and sang in Jefferson Ward Choir. He was a humble, giving, loving, and caring person, and he will be greatly missed. His sister, Sue Smith, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife; his mother; and two sisters, Pattie Meyers and Sylvia Warmbrodt. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 5, 2001 Amarillo Jack E. Cooper Jack E. Cooper, 77, of Amarillo, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Cooper was a Marine Corps sergeant during World War II. He was a member of the Amarillo Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union, Local No. 196, where he served as president and business agent. He also trained on the apprentice board. He was a well-known butcher for many years in Pleasant Valley. He married Wilma L. Allen on July 12, 1944, at Tulsa, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carol L. Cooper of San Antonio and Carla G. Cooper of Amarillo; two sons, Roger Cooper of Baird and Ronald G. Osage St. Mrs. Miller was born in Bonham in 1901. She moved to Amarillo when she was 6 years old and has been a longtime resident since. She married O.L. "Red" Miller on Sept. 11, 1918, at the city of Canyon Courthouse. She worked at Panhandle Laundry for about 12 years and on the kitchen staff at St. Anthony's Hospital for a number of years. She was a Baptist and a loving homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Red" Miller, in 1959; and a son, Orvil Lee Miller. Survivors include a daughter, Maxie Hawkins of Amarillo; a son, Roy R. Miller of Great Falls, Mont.; a sister, Essie Seney of Gilbert, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at 6302 Watford Circle. Garrett Jr. W.C. "Cliff" Garrett Jr., 80, of Amarillo, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001. Services were at 3 p.m. Saturday in Chapel of Memories at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Mr. Bob Thomas of Crown of Texas Hospice officiating. Entombment was in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Garrett was born March 26, 1921, in Poteau, Okla., to William C. and Mary Ellen Dolph Garrett Sr. He grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School. He was a veteran of the Air Force and received the Air Defense, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign and the Good Conduct Medals. After his discharge, he went to work for Phillips Petroleum Co. as an auditor. In 1954, he went to work for Pioneer Natural Gas Co. as an accountant and retired in 1982. On Sept. 2, 1960, he and Carmen Kizziar were married in Lubbock. Cliff was a member of the Coulter Road Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Adult I Sunday school class. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Garrett of Dumas; two daughters, Catherine Boney of Weatherford and Carolyn Watkins of Denton; two brothers, Randall Garrett of Center and Royce Garrett of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Jason Garrett of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Craig and Allison Boney of Weatherford; and a great-granddaughter, Kennedy Marie Garrett of Colorado Springs. Cox, 93, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 29, 2001. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in New Testament Christian Church with the Rev. Dan Post of the church officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Cox was born in Pensacola, Fla., and moved to Amarillo in November 2000. He retired as a sheetmetal worker in 1966. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Camilla, in 1953; a son, Steve Cox of Amarillo in 1998; and two daughters, Barbara Duran in 2001 and Yvonne Cox in 1998. Survivors include his wife, Guadalupe Cox of Covina, Calif.; four daughters, Cynthia Cox Davis and Margaret Loera, both of Amarillo, Regina Villa of California and Delores Perida of Alabama; 32 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 39 great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in the Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary. Mrs. Clark married Arthur Clark on Dec. 24, 1937, in Alma, Ark. She had been a resident of Portales since 1949. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 5, 2001 Canyon Dyer Bonifield Dyer Bonifield, 82, of Canyon, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001. Kevin Deckard, pastor of Westover Fellowship Church of Amarillo, officiating. Private burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Bonifield was born in Wilson, Okla., on Aug. 2, 1919, to Cora and Knox Bonifield. He was the sixth of eight children. He served in Cavalry for about a year before World War II began, and then transferred to the Army Air Corps, where he was in the Air Transport Command for the duration of the war. He flew between India and China as well as "The Hump" and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He married Virginia Kennedy in 1955 at Borger. He was a farmer and rancher in Randall County. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon and was in the Crusaders Sunday school class. He delivered Meals on Wheels and was a Mason. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Criste Tonra and husband, Steve, of San Antonio, Susan Mayo and husband, Steve, of Boerne, Dian McNutt and husband, Todd, of Merkel, and Denise Rogers and husband, Ron, of Canyon; a brother, Clell Bonifield of Amarillo; two sisters, Georgia Wilson of Claude and Billie Jane Harvey of Riverside, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
