Rick Pearson, associate pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Haven-Brook Funeral Home of Norman, Okla. Mr. Burkett was born in Norman. He attended schools in Norman and was in the Boy Scouts, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. He began working for Sonic at age of 15 winning numerous honors and awards, including the National Award of Turnaround Operator of the Year in 1988. He owned and operated a number of Sonic Drive-Ins in Oklahoma City, Las Vegas, and New Mexico prior to settling in Pampa, where he supervised drive-ins in Pampa and Borger. Survivors include a son, David Burkett of Norman; a daughter, Tami Burkett of Noble, Okla.; his father, Lloyd Burkett of Norman; two brothers, Byron Burkett of Drumright, Okla., and Thomas Burkett of Norman; a sister, Mary Beth Burkett of San Antonio; three grandchildren; his companion, Julie Kinnaman of Pampa; and his children's mother, Anne Burkett of Norman. Head of Friona officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Balli was born in San Benito and moved to Friona in 1962. He had worked for the government in Austin and was an undersea welder. He married Maria Elena Guerra in 1942 at San Benito. She died in 1998. Stowe in 1924 at Clarendon, Texas. He died in 1982. Burial will be in the city of Levelland Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home. Mr. McCoy was born in Floydada. He moved from Olton to Amherst in 1988 and to Littlefield in 1989. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co., retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Littlefield Golf Course, the Amherst Booster Club, the Amherst Chamber of Commerce and the PTA. He also was a member of the Philresters Club of Phillips Petroleum. He was a Christian. He married Doris Read in 1947 at White Face. She died in 1985. He married Joan Priddy Cambers in 1988 at Amherst. Mrs. Ferguson was born in Little Rock, Ark. She moved to Amarillo from Detroit in 1970. During World War II she worked as a riveter in the shipyards. She also worked as a chemical lab tech for Phillips Petroleum in Borger. She was a homemaker and member of Paramount Baptist Church. She married J.T. Ferguson in 1950 at Pampa. He died in 1984. She also was preceded in death by a son, Billy Dean Phillips, in 1986. Survivors include two daughters, Denise Folkner of Amarillo and Betty Jean Boin of Ann Arbor, Mich.; a son, Tommy Ferguson of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Pete Perryman of Achille, Okla.; seven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She worked for Colbert's Clothiers. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She married Alfred E. Needham in 1935. He died in 1986. She married Jim Kimble in 1990. Burns James W. Burns, 80, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Bobby Medford, associate minister of San Jacinto United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega. Mr. Burns was born in Indio, Calif., and had lived in Amarillo for over 30 years. He owned an overhead door company, Swanky's Liquor Stores and was a building contractor. He was a member of the Petroleum Masonic Lodge No. 474 in Tulsa, Okla., the American Legion Post No. 54, and a charter member of the Lubbock Scottish Rite. Mr. Burns also was a member of the Khiva Temple, was in the Patrol Unit and formed the Greeters Unit in 1964. He was a member of the Royal Order of the Jesters and past director of the Khiva Temple. Survivors include three daughters, Dianna Hurst and Gail Bruner, both of Tulsa, and Sheila Gamblin of Amarillo; four sisters, Pauline Ellendorf of Little Rock, Ark., Bonnie Burns of Orem, Utah, Betty Rucken of Palm Springs, Calif., and Eva Tyrrell of Mexico; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Harold Edwin Lee, 92, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in San Jacinto Assembly of God. Officiants are Dr. Robert Slaton, district superintendent of the West Texas Area Assemblies of God, the Rev. Melvin Suttle, pastor of the church, and the Rev. He was stationed at Biggs Field in El Paso as an airplane radio mechanic for the Army during World War II. He worked for the Panhandle Independent School District. As an Assembly of God minister, he pastored at churches in White Deer, Spearman, White Face and Mobeetie and after retirement worked as a pulpit supply pastor throughout the Texas Panhandle. Rev. Lee married Aline Jernigan in 1934 at Portales, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Louise Kitchens of White Deer and Mary Ransford of Oxnard, Calif.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Burial will be in Elizabeth Cemetery in Coldwater, Ohio. Mr. Synck was born in Coldwater. During World War II he served in the Navy, attaining the rank of lieutenant junior grade. He attended Navy schools at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton in 1943 and his master's degree in science in mathematics from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1949. Mr. Synck studied further at West Texas State University and Texas Tech University. A professor of mathematics at Amarillo College, he became the division chairman for mathematics, engineering and biological sciences until his retirement in 1988. In business he had served in the field of pre-actuarial and agency research in the insurance field. He had operated his own business and had worked with the New York Life Insurance Co. in Amarillo. Mr. Synck was a supporter of the Amarillo Opera and the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He married Barbara Lee Krimm in 1951 at Montclair, N.J. She preceded him in death. Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Garnett and Deborah Romero, both of Amarillo; two sons, Steven Synck of Lubbock and David Synck of Garland; eight grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. He attended Carver High School in Amarillo, Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, West Texas State University in Canyon, Amarillo College, North Texas State University in Denton and Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Okla. A former Palo Duro High School varsity basketball coach, he also worked at J.C. Pitts High School in Jefferson, Austin County High School in Sealy, Clarendon Elementary at Clarendon and Carver High School. He retired in 1993. Rev. Smith married Dollye Marie Hooks in 1957. She preceded him in death. Survivors include children, Miki Ray, Chana Delores and Cyril Rene; a sister, Shirley Shelmon; a brother, Gregory Holmes; and a granddaughter. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Davis was born in Plano and had lived in Amarillo for over 60 years. He graduated from Carver High School in 1953 and from Prairie View A&M College in 1957 with a degree in industrial education. Following graduation he served in the Army until 1963. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service and the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System, retiring as a cook supervisor. Survivors include his wife, Margie Davis; a son, Karl Davis of Amarillo; a daughter, Stacy Davis Griffith of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Patricia Jones Amarillo and Aretha Byrd of Dallas; two brothers, Marcellus Davis of Garland and Stan Davis of Dallas; three sisters, Beverly Winston and Christine Henderson, both of Houston, and Madelline Davis of Dallas; three stepsisters, Patricia Weley, Jay Slack and Casandra Whitaker; and seven grandchildren. The family will be at 1316 Mimosa Lane. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 5, 2001 Norene Moseley Norene Cazzell Moseley, 94, formerly of Amarillo, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, of The Woodlands. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Field, of Southeast Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Moseley was born in Denton and raised in Amarillo. She was a clerk at the Potter County Probation office, retiring in 1974. In 1994 she moved from Amarillo to The Woodlands. She married William Thomas Moseley in 1926 at Amarillo. He died in 1965. Survivors include a son, Joe Moseley of The Woodlands; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
