Bartlett Bill M. Bartlett, 67, formerly of Amarillo, died Friday, March 2, 2001, in New Braunfels. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home at New Braunfels with the Rev. Rick Bartlett officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Bartlett was born in Happy and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1952. He worked for Producer's Grain Corporation as a data processing manager before working as a purchasing agent for Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. While in Amarillo, he was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church, the Panhandle Chapter of the Model A Ford Club of America and the Mended Heart's Club No. 54. In 1990, he moved to Carrollton, where he worked for Atmos Energy Corp. until his retirement in 1998. He moved to New Braunfels in 1998. He married Nancy Claire McCollum in 1955. Survivors include his wife; a son, Rick Bartlett of New Braunfels; a daughter, Pam Norwood of College Station; a sister, Nita Reeves of Ramsey, N.J.; and eight grandchildren. The family will be at 7403 Dreyfuss and suggests memorials be to New Braunfels Christian Church. Amarillo Daily News March 5, 2001 Amelia Deanda Fierro Amelia Deanda Fierro, 80, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 3, 2001. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the chapel at Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Fierro was born in Valentine and moved to Big Spring in 1939. In 1942, she moved to Odessa, where she was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. In 1969, she moved to Amarillo, where she was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and served as a Guadalupana. She was a homemaker. She married Acension "A.B." Fierro in 1940. Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Eulalia Marquez of Longview, Rosie F. Escamilla, Maria Tirza F. Gibbs and Veronica Fierro-Garcia, all of Amarillo, and Patsy F. Watts of Carrollton; four sons, Eduardo D. Fierro, Rick "R.D." Fierro and Joe Fierro, all of Amarillo, and Acension B. Fierro Jr. of Smithville; a sister, Lucia D. Mrs. Pyeatt was born in Milo, Okla., and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. Before retiring in 1991, she worked for Goebel Hearing Aids and later owned and operated Advanced Hearing Aids. She was a member and past president of Amarillo Women's Club and a member of the Pilot Club and Paramount Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was preceded in death by two husbands; Richard L. Elliott in 1955 and Glenn O. Pyeatt in 1996. Survivors include three sons, Jay Richard Elliott of South Dakota and Stanley Roy Elliott and Rodney Lee Elliott, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Rhoda Ann Isgriggs of Arkansas; a half sister, Christina Salmon of Canyon; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Georgia St. Mr. Woodard was born in Richmond, Ind., and moved to Amarillo in 1974 from Denver. An electrician, he retired from St. Anthony's Hospital as Senior Maintenance Engineer in 1995. He was a member of Grace Community Church, where he taught adult Sunday school classes and edited radio programs produced by the church. He married Adrianne Uttinger in 1968 at Sarasota, Fla. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karen Keplar and Tosha Woodard, both of Amarillo; two sons, Joshua Woodard and Frank Keplar, both of Amarillo; a sister, Cathy Mercer of Zionsville, Ind.; his parents, the Rev. Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Haller was born in Douglas County, Mo., and had lived in Amarillo since 1997. She was a homemaker and had worked in home health care. She was preceded in death by two husbands, David Rogers in 1965; and Andrew Haller in 1981. Survivors include two sons, Daniel L. Rogers of Amarillo and Timothy Howlingcrane of Kansas; a daughter, Louise Morton of Missouri; a sister, Virginia Ahrens of Missouri; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Daily News March 5, 2001 Canyon Lee Reeves CANYON - Lee Reeves, 92, formerly of Canyon, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, in Horseshoe Bay. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Hancock officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in Citizens Cemetery at Clarendon by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Reeves was born on Aug. 23, 1908, at Lelia Lake to Ernest and Maggie Reaves Lewis. She married E.R. Rex Reeves on May 22, 1930. She graduated with a bachelor's of art degree from Texas Tech University and received a master's of art degree from West Texas State University. She taught school for 35 years, the last 18 of which were at Rex Reeves Elementary School in Canyon. She served as president of the following organizations: Canyon, Randall Chapter of the American Heart Association; Canyon Chapter of the American Cancer Society; Sue Hite Club; Chi Omega Alumnae; Canyon Classroom Teacher's Association; and Canyon Retired Teachers Association. She was also a personal advisor for the Upsilon Zeta Chapter of Chi Omega for 20 years. Her husband, Rex Reeves, died in 1961. Survivors include a son, Reggie Reeves and wife, Judy, of Horseshoe Bay; two sisters, Alta Lane of Canyon and Louise Howard of Anton; a grandson, Korbin Reeves of Austin; a granddaughter, Kenda Reeves Canuteson of Marble Falls; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Mayfield was a longtime resident of Shamrock and was the owner and operator of Superior Dry Cleaners. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Shamrock Sheriff's Posse. He married Erma Robertson in 1929. She died in 1993. Mr. Betts was born in Cass County, grew up in Wichita Falls and moved to West Texas in 1944. He worked as a rancher and farmer for the Bridwell Ranch. A longtime former resident of Adrian, he was a member of First Baptist Church. He moved to Amarillo 10 years ago and was a member of Lamount Baptist Church. His son, James Samuel Betts, died in 1996. He married Viola Pearl Gill in 1935 at Walters, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jolene Williams of Amarillo and Darla Bradshaw of Adrian; a son, Horace Ewing "Butch" Betts of Roanoke; a brother, George Betts of Atlanta; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Roy Cleve Keith, pastor, officiating. Cremains will be taken to Scotland for burial at a later date. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Gardiner was born in Armadale, Scotland and graduated from Armadale High School. A 1939 graduate of Edinburgh University Medical School, he had a family practice in Armadale and later in Livington before moving to Paducah in 1974. He worked at Paducah Rural Health Clinic until 1999. He was a member of First Christian Church in Paducah. He was a veteran of World War II. His wife, Mary Gardiner, died in February. His son, Maxwell Gardiner, died in 1990. Survivors include a son, Andrew Gardiner of Pilot Point; two daughters, Fiona McCord of Dallas and Evelyn Syer of England; and nine grandchildren. She married Edward Henry Jackson in 1950 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1999. She was also preceded in death by a son, Troy Jackson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was leader of the Youth Group. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with Terry Davidson officiating and Steve Rains assisting. Burial will be in Texhoma Cemetery by Dawson-Welch Funeral Home. Mr. Thomason was born near Texhoma. Before returning to Texhoma 20 years ago, he had worked as a produce consultant for Nash Finch, Safeway and Ideal Foods. He worked for Texhoma School District and the city of Texhoma before his retirement in 1994. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Texhoma. Mr. Thomason was a special papa to many children in Texhoma; Guymon; Dodge City, Kan.; Fort Worth, Texas; Dalhart, Texas; and Chandler, Texas. He never knew a child he did not love. His son, Terry Lee Thomason, preceded him in death. He married Peggy Conrad at Liberal, Kan., in 1960. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy LaVoy Thomason and Rex Robin Thomason, both of Texhoma; a brother, Verley Thomason of Texhoma; a sister, Maudiline Worth of Texhoma; and two grandchildren, Brandi Jo Thomason and Michael Brandon Thomason, both of Shidler. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hillcrest Cemetery at McLean. Mr. Horton was born in Rockdale, grew up in Austin and moved to Big Spring in 1971. He served with the Army during the Korean War. After receiving a bachelor's of science degree in administration and counseling from the University of Texas at Austin, he taught history and government and worked as a counselor until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Texas State Teachers and Retired Teachers Associations. A member of Fourteen and Main Church of Christ, he was active in Prison Ministry. He married Margaret D'Spain in 1956 at Austin. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jeff Horton of Grand Prairie and Jon Horton of Benbrook; a daughter, Janene Binnion of Midland; two sisters, Louise Rainer of Austin and Rosalind Ferrell of Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in Goree Cemetery at Goree. Mr. Jones was born in Newton County, Miss., and moved to Goree in 1916. Before moving to Abilene in 1985, he lived in California and Floydada. In Floydada, he worked as produce manager at Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store and raised cattle and farmed. He worked as a selfemployed house painter before his retirement. He was a member of Lytle South Baptist Church in Abilene. He married Grace Evelyn Reed in 1933 at Goree. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jimmie Gerald Jones of Abilene and Gary Dewayne Jones of Amarillo; three sisters, Lois Howard and Fannie Belle Lambeth, both of Munday, and Agnes Stewart of Socorro, N.M.; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-greatgrandchildren.
