Mrs. Mason was born south of Amarillo in the old Zita community. She graduated from West Texas State College and taught school for two years. She married Elmer Mason on Aug. 2, 1936, in Amarillo. She taught for one year at Highland Park School and one year at Wildorado. She was a member of Vega United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by Mr. Mason on Sept. 29, 1994. He had lived in Amarillo since 1985. He was district superintendent of construction for North Plains Telephone Co., and later for Continental Telephone Co. in Dumas, for 38 years. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific. He served with the Dumas Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Peden was a member of the Amarillo Ostomy Association and the Ostomy Associations in Midland and Odessa. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dumas. He married Charmaine Brewer on June 2, 1940, in Clayton, N.M. Amarillo Globe-News, June 6, 2001 Louis Seewald Louis Seewald, 88, of Amarillo, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, in Houston. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Conway of Westminster Presbyterian Church officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Seewald died in Houston at the age of 88 after a long illness. He was a lifetime resident of Amarillo, born June 28, 1912. He was the son of pioneer family Mr. and Mrs. P.H. Seewald. Mr. Seewald attended Amarillo public schools. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1933 with two degrees, one in mechanical engineering and one in electrical engineering. He was a member of two honorary engineering societies, Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi. He also was chapter president of Phi Kappa Psi social fraternity at the university. After college, he returned to Amarillo where he was owner of Western Light and Supply. After retiring he remained involved in various business interests. Mr. Seewald was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of the Amarillo Country Club, the Amarillo Club, and the Palo Duro Club. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Marjorie Roach Seewald; a son, Philip Seewald of La Luz, N.M.; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Bill Lawhon; a daughter, Gloria Frank of Houston; a son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Marjorie Mount Seewald of Hesperus, Colo.; a sister, Edyth Seewald Wells; eight grandchildren, Kathryn Seewald, Leslie Lawhon Biggs and husband, Andy, Christine Lawhon, Laura Lawhon, Jennifer Frank, Brian Frank, Aaron Seewald and Kyle Seewald; and numerous nieces and nephews.
