Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregg Simmons, the Rev. Andy Dietz and the Rev. Lee Sharp officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. A lifelong resident of Borger, Mr. Maxwell was a praise and worship leader for Reality at Sanford First Baptist Church retreats and youth camps. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Borger and past president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Survivors include his parents, Ron and Donna Maxwell of Borger; a sister, Bethany Maxwell of the home; and grandmothers, Wanda Maxwell of Amarillo and Carolyn Blount of Stanford, Ky. Amarillo Daily News, March 6, 2001 Herbert Claude Bennett BORGER - Herbert Claude "Tex" Bennett, 89, died Sunday, March 4, 2001. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. T. James Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Wellington. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors in Borger and Adams Funeral Home in Wellington. Mr. Bennett spent most of his life farming. In 1987, he retired and moved to Fritch, where he built a home across the street from his grandson. Mr. Berry was a member of Adobe Walls Masonic Lodge No. 1355, Billy Dixon Masonic Lodge No. 1367, the Order of the Eastern Star and Scottish Rite of El Paso. He was active and sponsored several Little League baseball teams over the years as well as other youth sports and activities. Survivors include his wife, Colene Berry; three sons, Rev. Mrs. Held owned the Circle Motel in Borger from 1964 to 1991. She was a longtime member of OES and a study and social club from 1941 to 1964. Survivors include two sons, Michael Held of Fritch and Leslie Held of Panhandle; three sisters, Opal Eagle of Panhandle, Alene Lewis of Borger and Wanda Armstrong of Wichita, Kan.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Trujillo was born at Clayton and was a lifetime resident of the Tucumcari area. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Trujillo, in 1998. Mr. Hulen married Shelley Barnes in 1992 at Amarillo. He was a truck driver and a member of Southern Baptist Church. Brad Reeves, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park at Muleshoe by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mrs. McCarty moved to Lubbock in September of 1999. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Muleshoe. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. "Delma" McCarty in July; and by a son, Weldon, in 1956. Survivors include a son, Fuston McCarty of Lubbock; a sister, Iris Butts of Fort Collins, Colo.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
