She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She had lived in Friona since 1991, moving from Oklahoma. She married Bill Neely on Oct. 27, 1951, in Meridian. She was active in The Friona Senior Citizens and was instrumental in moving the organization from a group of 12 to 15 people to more than 85 members. Survivors include her husband, Bill Neely of Friona; a daughter, Marsha Hafer and husband Tommy of Allen; a son, Stephen P. Eddie Tubbs, pastor of First Baptist Church of Dumas officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Lyle was a member of First Christian Church of Dumas and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She had lived in Moore County since 1942. She married Leonard Clyde Lyle on Feb. 9, 1935, in Hollis, Okla. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1999. Jerry Trammell, pastor of First Assembly of God, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Allen Turley, son, and Assembly of God minister of Aurora, Colo., and the Rev. Rex Kreusel, pastor of Bethel Assembly of God in Dumas. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Turley was born April 19, 1942, in Anadarko, Okla., and had been a Dumas resident since 1951. He was a deacon at First Assembly of God in Dumas since 1978. He taught Sunday school for 20 years. He loved woodworking and fishing. He was an electrical superintendent at Diamond Shamrock. He married Levella Stewart on June 23, 1961, in Dumas. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 6, 2001 Marjorie Ann Wieser Marjorie Ann Wieser, 61, of Amarillo, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mrs. Wieser moved to Amarillo from West Virginia in 1992, and had worked in substance abuse counseling in West Virginia. She worked as a correctional officer and in the psychological ward at the William P. Clements Jr. Unit in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Crawford, and a sister, Irene Plantz. Survivors include three daughters, Angie Bankhead of Amarillo, Amber Wieser of Middletown, Ohio, and Micha DeBoard of Huntington, W. Va.; two brothers, Howard Crawford of Point Pleasant, W. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 6, 2001 Richard Niel Mellinger Richard Niel Mellinger, 74, of Amarillo, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Brent Ashby officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Mellinger was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a confirmed Lutheran. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Malta 318 of Burlington, Iowa; Scottish Rite in Lubbock; Amarillo Moose Lodge 1371; Khiva Shrine in Amarillo; and American Legion Post 54 in Amarillo. His sporting interests and activities were goose and duck hunting, fishing and baseball and he was an automobile racer for more than 15 years. In 1948, he started work for the Civil Service Commission at Iowa Ordnance Plant in Burlington, Iowa. In 1951, he went to work with Mason & Hanger, Silas Mason Corp., in the position of material expeditor and quality assurance inspector with the Atomic Energy Commission at the Burlington Iowa AEC Plant. He later transferred with the AEC to the Amarillo area office of the Pantex Plant in December 1973. He retired from the Department of Energy in December 1988 as chief of product acceptance section of the Quality Assurance Branch AAO Pantex Plant in Amarillo. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Graham of Amarillo; two sisters, Marilyn Seibel and Annette Peart of Bettendorf, Iowa; and two brothers, Devon Mellinger of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Robert Davis of Sarasota, Fla. "Bill" Rutter, 68, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at St. Stephen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry C. Lowe officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Rutter was born in Fort Riley, Kan., and moved to Amarillo in 1939. He attended Wilson Elementary School, Elizabeth Nixson Junior High School and was a 1951 graduate of Amarillo High School. He attended Amarillo College and the Southern Methodist University School of Banking. He married Doris Bailey on Dec. 31, 1952, at Amarillo. Mr. Rutter went to work for Amarillo National Bank in 1952 and retired from the bank in 1998 as a commercial loan officer. He was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Floyd Rutter of Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carrie Martel and her husband David of Amarillo and Leslie Goodrum and her husband Kevin of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Shane Martel, Todd Martel, Ryan Goodrum and Bailey Goodrum; and his cousin, John Preston of El Paso. Robert was born July 30, 1985, in Hampton, Va., to Robert Woods Jr. and Jimmie Darlene Tucker. He was active in sports at Canyon High School where he was on the junior varsity football team and played baseball. He also was active in the theater class. DJ was born Aug. 26, 1992, in Lubbock and was attending the fourth grade at Preston Smith Elementary. As a member of the Air Extreme Team, she had trained in trampoline and tumbling since age 4. It was obvious from the start that she showed talent and was going to be a pleasure to work with. She was an outstanding athlete who won state championships in 1998. She earned fourth place in the trampoline competition and sixth place in tumbling competition at the 2001 National Championship of Tumbling and Trampoline in San Antonio. After the 2001 National, she was ranked 11th in the country in trampoline and 24th in tumbling. She was active in basketball, hunting and fishing. She had a love for animals and enjoyed camping in Pagosa Springs, Colo. She shared meaningful relationships with a number of close friends. She was a member of Raintree Christian Church. He had been a resident of Lubbock since moving from Turkey in 1955. He married Ruth Chadwick on Feb. 25, 1956, in Childress. He graduated from Turkey High School and attended Texas Tech University for two years. He was the owner of Flex Marketing, an insurance agency, for 20 years. He was the second president of Monterey Optimist Little Dribblers Basketball Association. He was a member of Kiva Duffers for several years, Monterey Optimist Club and Quaker Avenue Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Lawrence "Butch" Clark; his mother, Ruth Lane Clark; and his adopted parents, Leon and Lillie Lane of Turkey.
