Field DALHART - Lewis E. Field, 79, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in Friona. Wake will be at 7 p.m. today in Hass Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Sweeney, of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Friona, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Field graduated from Southland High School and later entered the Army in 1942. He farmed in the Bunkerhill community for 37 years. Survivors include his wife, Frances; a son, Dennis Field of Friona; two daughters, Sherry Robinson of Gainsville and Debbie Roach of Dalhart; seven brothers, Albert of Muleshoe, James and Robert, both of Amarillo, Connie and David Mac, both of Dalhart, Tim Jr. of Guymon, Okla., and Roy of Maryland; two sisters, Mary Lou Ritchey of Dalhart and Bonnie Sue Dooley of Austin; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Shelton was born Sept. 7, 1941, in Quanah to A.J. and Nellie Nell (Montgomery) Shelton. He worked for Proto Stanley as a tool and dye maker for seven years. Survivors include his mother, Nellie. She was an LVN instructor in Childress and Andrews. She was employed at Ochiltree General Hospital from 1967-1989 and retired. She graduated from Quitaque High School in 1940 and from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in 1944. She worked in the Childress Regional Medical Center as R.N. Director of Nurses. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Bluford Johnson in 1991; and a brother, Ruben Hawkins in 2001. Survivors include a son, James R. Mrs. Schlotterbeck was born in Hayden on July 4, 1921, to Leslie L. and Idolene (Mosier) Hauser. She graduated from Clayton High School in 1938. She married Raymond M. Schlotterbeck on April 13, 1941, in Boise City, Okla. They moved to Las Cruces in 1970. She worked for Memorial Hospital in Las Cruces for more than 15 years and attended LaMesa Community Church. She helped raise many of her nieces and nephews. She was loved and will be missed by her entire family. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Lana Kay Tibbs of Vado; a son, K.D. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Calvary Baptist Church at Friona with the Rev. Alvin Petty, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mrs. Ferguson was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She had lived in Friona since moving from Midlothian in 1925. She was WMU treasurer for many years and served as treasurer for the Dorcas Sunday school class for many years. She married Virgil M. "Bud" Ferguson on July 14, 1934, in Farwell. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 4, 1995; a daughter, Treva Mae Ferguson in 1940; four brothers, Edward Massey in 1967, Gordon Massey in 1968, Wayne Massey in 1981 and Stanley Massey in 1993; and a sister, Geneva Williams in 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Bessie Holt and Doris Smith, both of Friona; two sons, Kenneth Ferguson of Burleson and Fred Ferguson, both of Friona; two sisters, Frances Baze of Dallas and Betty May Young of Levelland; two brothers, Russell Massey of Amarillo and Marvin Massey of Sundance, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 7, 2001 Elsewhere Huberta Chandler Torrance, Calif. - Huberta Chandler, 83, formerly of Amarillo, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, in Torrance, Calif. Memorial services were at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, in St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church in Redondo Beach, Calif. Mrs. Chandler was born in 1918 in Kentucky and raised in Amarillo, where she attended St. Mary's Academy. She attended business college and worked as a bookkeeper until she married in 1946. She was married for 55 years to Henry Chandler, originally from Tulsa, Okla. Together they moved to California in 1948 and settled in Torrence in 1956. She and her husband were 45-year members of St. Lawrence Martyr parish in Redondo Beach, where their children attended grade school. She will be missed by all who loved her. Survivors include her husband; four children, Susan, Stephen, Mary and John; and three grandchildren, Geoffrey, Aaron and Shannon. The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society, 5731 W. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel with the Rev. Dan Masters officiating. Burial will be in Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Mrs. Morrow was born April 1, 1920, in Alanreed, Gray County. She was a loving and faithful wife, beloved mother, grandmother and best friend. She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Over the years, she and Roy enjoyed camping, square dancing, fishing, golfing and watching snow fall in Angel Fire, N.M. At their mountain home they liked to watch the wildlife and run bears and other critters off the porch. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Marsha Kay; her parents; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Roy; a daughter, Linda Moore and husband, Jim; a grandchild, Jimmy Moore and wife, Sherri; and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Bailee Moore. He retired after 35 years of employment with Pioneer Natural Gas Co. in Amarillo and Monahans. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in the chapel of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. Garvie Schmidt officiating. A second service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Perryton Mennonite Church. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery, south of Perryton. Mr. Kauffman was a cook during World War II in Colorado Springs, Colo., before moving back to Beaver County. He was a longtime member of Perryton Mennonite Church and later moved his membership to Enid Mennonite Brethren Church. Survivors include his wife, Mable; a daughter, Carolyn Warren of Canadian; two stepdaughters, Virginia Meade of Enid and Erma Brown of Greeley, Colo.; a stepson, Franklin Koehn of Tawanda, Kan.; three sisters, Ruth Rhoads of Guymon, Lulu Johnson of Perryton and Mabel Reith of Woodward; two brothers, Johnny Kauffman of Guymon and Ed Kauffman of Colorado Springs; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
