She was an office technician for Amarillo State Center and Texas Panhandle Mental Health Mental Retardation. She was born in Bastrop. She married Phillip DeHoyos in 1964 at Dallas. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Tonya DeHoyos Detten of Panhandle and Rachel Ann DeHoyos of Fort Worth; two sons, Steven DeHoyos of Shiloh, Ill., and Daniel C. Jim Fox, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Duncan was born in Amarillo. He worked as a security guard for Bank One. Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Hill of Frisco; his parents, Bob and Wanda Duncan of Amarillo; and a brother, Johnny Ray Duncan of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to Hillcrest Baptist Church pastoral fund. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe April 8, 2001 Mary Otha Lee Hume Mary Otha Lee Hume, 89, died Thursday, April 5, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Jay Roberson of Liberty Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Hume was a vibrant little lady, born Jan. 23, 1912 in Cuthbert. In 1916 her family moved to Mountain Park, Okla., where her father was sheriff. Otha Lee taught school in Albuquerque, N.M. before moving to Amarillo to settle. She taught second grade for 25 years at Pleasant Valley Elementary School. With jet black hair, brown eyes and lots of freckles, she graduated from high school in Mountain Park. Energetic and smart, she went on to graduate from Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha, Okla. She graduated from Southwestern State University at Weatherford, where she met Clyde Hume. They were married May 22, 1935. He lovingly called her "Bigun," she called him "Pup" and they eloped while in college. Clyde "Pup" Hume preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1981, when he had a heart attack. Clyde and Otha Lee had only one child, Keith Hume who still lives here in Amarillo. He was Otha Lee's "guardian" until her death. Her last smile on this earth was for him. Otha Lee "Bigun" led a full and happy life. She loved tennis, golf and gardening. She was an artist and a seamstress. She was small in stature but did everything in a big way. Survivors include a son, Keith Hume of Amarillo; a sister, Jeanne Leitner of Amarillo; and a grandson, Cassey Hume of Lubbock; and a multitude of family and friends that loved and respected her. Mrs. Emberton was a longtime Amarillo and Panhandle resident. She married Oran Emberton in 1949 at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; and by her son, Gary Emberton, in 1997. She married Woodrow McDaniel on June 16, 1982, at Fort Worth. He preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by a son, Elisha Dean Knick in 1956. Cremation and arrangements were by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Stromberg was born in Taos, N.M. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He lived in Hurst many years before moving to Amarillo. He was a Baptist. Mrs. Stanford was born in Tupelo, Miss., and moved to Fairlie at the age of seven. She received a bachelor of science degree from East Texas State University at Commerce in 1928 and a master's in elementary education in 1940. She taught in elementary schools for 39 years in East Texas and Amarillo before retiring after 23 years at Phillips Elementary School at Phillips. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and a lifetime member of Texas State Teacher's Association. She was a longtime member of Gardner Street Church of Christ in Borger. She moved to Park Place Towers in Amarillo in 1992 and became a member of Central Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Lobaugh, in 1964; and a brother, Byron Ellis of Amarillo in 1989. She married J.A. Stanford in 1971. Survivors include her husband; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jamie Voss of San Diego; two step-grandsons; two step-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Mrs. Anita Anderson of Bovina and Mrs. Neva Barr of Denver; two great-nephews; and three great-great-nephews. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Johnson was born March 31, 1915, in Nevada, Texas. She married Dudley Johnson on April 11, 1930, at Athens. Mrs. Johnson was a ready-to-wear buyer for 20 years at Kline's and for eight years at Colbert's. She was the manager of Eldorado Apartments for two years. She was a retired senior volunteer for five years. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and was once elected Woman of the Year. She was president of the Pilot Club in 1961 and co-chairman of the American Heart Association's Heart Fund in 1977. She was a member of Tenth Street Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Kelso was born Jan. 27, 1906, in Haskell County. He moved to Tulia in 1920 and to Canyon in 1941. A past employee of Canyon Independent School District and self-employed in yard maintenance, he was a past Citizen of the Year in Canyon. He had been a member of Canyon City Lodge No. 730 and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He married Eva C. Gardner in 1926. She died in 1995. He also was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Kelso; a twin brother, Howard Kelso in 2000; three other brothers; and two sisters. Mr. Day was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Camargo, Okla. He had lived in Clarendon since 1970. He married Barbara Ellen Messerschmidt on May 26, 1983, at Clarendon. She preceded him in death on May 26, 1983. His son, Keith Day, died in 1994. A Baptist, he had been a self-employed carpenter since 1962. She was an avid golfer and loved to play bridge. She married C.L. Bell in 1939. He died in 1973. She then married O.C. Rogers in 1984. They were married until his death in 2000. Survivors include a daughter, Jan Keley and husband Alan of Brownwood; a son, C.L. "Jack" Bell Jr. of San Francisco; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Jeffrey moved to Wellington in 1995 from Cedar Creek Lake. She was a Church of Christ member.
