Services were at 11 a.m. Monday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 15th Avenue and Martin Road, with the Rev. Robert Hardin of St. Mark's Anglican Episcopal Church officiating. Cremation was by Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born in Alva, Okla. She moved to Hereford six years ago from Brandon, Fla. She married Gerald O. Johnson on Sept. 17, 1952, in Waco. She had lived in many locations in the United States, Turkey and Alaska. She was a member of the Amarillo Astronomy Club, Amarillo Genealogical Society and Deaf Smith Genealogical Society. Mrs. Johnson was an avid amateur photographer, bird watcher and a supporter of the National Audubon Society. Survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven C. and Ladawan Johnson of Boise, Idaho; and a grandchild, Elissa S. Johnson of Boise. Mrs. Matthews was born Dec. 12, 1908, in Coleman County. She married Clarence Matthews on June 21, 1929, in Breckenridge. He preceded her in death in 1970. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1983, moving from Dumas. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Morris Mullanax and Doyle Mullanax; and by a sister, Opal Magerkurth. Katherine Turner, 82, of Amarillo, died Saturday, May 5, 2001. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Fox officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery North Mausoleum by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 15th Avenue and Martin Road. Mrs. Turner was born June 4, 1918, in Floydada. Her parents, S.L. and Tennie R. Williams, were residents of Sudan. She was the oldest of eight children. Mrs. Turner was a longtime resident of Texas and Colorado. Her parents were farmers in Sudan. She grew up in Sudan, graduating from Sudan High School. She was married three times and raised seven children. She was preceded in death by two sons, Don Gordon and W.L. Gordon; by a grandson, Karl Allen; and by a great-grandson, Joshua. Survivors include four daughters, Joy and Roberta, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lois of Republic, Kan., and Cindy of Amarillo; a son, Ken of Irving; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Interstate 40. Mrs. O'Briant was born in Rockwall on May 22, 1909, the daughter of Judge Henry Wade and Lula Michie Wade. She was the sixth of eleven children, the center of attraction, as she called herself. She married Dennis Woodson O'Briant on Dec. 22, 1934, at Hobart, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1969. She taught school at Groton, Conn., Quail and Amarillo for 44 years, retiring in 1974. During World War II she was a government inspector, efficiency expert, in Los Angeles. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church, Kappa Kappa Iota teacher's sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma teacher's honor society, Esther McCory Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Amarillo Retired Teachers and the Susanna Wesley Sunday school class. Survivors include one daughter, Jannis Lynn O'Briant; two brothers, James Wade and wife, Sara, of Dallas and Faires Wade and wife, Kay, of Corpus Christi; one sister, Lillian Cromwell of Stamford; numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends who were impacted by her life. Amarillo Globe-News, May 8, 2001 Elizabeth Harrison JEFFERSON - Elizabeth Badgett Harrison, 86, died Thursday, May 3, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Haggard-Heaster Funeral Home. Mrs. Harrison, a member of a pioneer family of Marion County, was born Aug. 20, 1914, in Jefferson. She was the daughter of the late Alline Elizabeth Robertson Badgett and James Wilburn Badgett. Mrs. Harrison was the widow of Dr. Preston E. Harrison, who had been superintendent of Big Spring State Hospital at the time of his death on Aug. 7, 1975. She graduated from Jefferson High School as salutatorian. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown and a master of arts degree from East Texas State University at Commerce. She did post-graduate work at the University of Texas at Austin, at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., and at Texas Women's University at Denton. She was a doctoral candidate at North Texas State University at Denton at the time of her marriage to Dr. Harrison. Mrs. Harrison was a board member of West Texas Council of Girl Scouts of America and of the Big Spring Community Concert Association. In Big Spring, she was a volunteer consultant-teacher at Malone-Hogan Hospital, School of Radiological Technologists. She was a member of Permian Basin Medical Auxiliary and the 1905 Hyperion Club. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Canyon. She served on the Board of Friends of the Canyon Public Library. She was preceded in death in 1975 by her husband, Preston E. Harrison, psychiatric hospital administrator of Big spring Hospital for over 20 years; by three brothers, Wilburn Dow Badgett of Denver, David Alfred Badgett of Texarkana and Turner Robertson Badgett of Dallas; and by a sister, PollyAnna Badgett Hughes of Canyon.
