Morrison DUMAS - Juanita L. Morrison, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church at Dumas with the Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired minister of Assembly of God in Dumas, and the Rev. Roger Orr, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Dumas, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Morrison moved to Dumas from Amarillo in 1943. She was born on Feb. 17, 1916, in Roosevelt County, N.M. She married Morris T. Morrison on Dec. 21, 1936, in Hall County. She had been a member of First Baptist Church of Dumas since 1943. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 653 of Dumas. She was preceded in death by her husband in April of 1987; and a great-granddaughter, Kelsey Jo Patterson in April of 1992. Survivors include two sons, Larry Morrison and wife, Joe Ellen, of Dumas and Jim Morrison of Nacogdoches; a daughter-in-law, Angie Morrison of Amarillo; a sister, Ruby Floyd of Borger; five grandchildren, Melinda Patterson and husband, Guy, of Dumas, Marlis Allen and husband, Cy, of Dalhart, Lance Morrison of Dumas, Jason Poole and wife, Heather, of Amarillo and Josh Poole of Lubbock; and 10 great-grandchildren, Zach Patterson, Meisha Patterson, Kaitlyn Patterson and Dreagan Patterson, all of Dumas, Josh Allen, Alix Allen and Channing Allen, all of Dalhart, Madison Barker of Dumas, and Addison Poole and Avery Poole, both of Amarillo. Bryan BORGER - W.H. "Olin" Bryan, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Westlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Vince Inman, of Abundant Life Fellowship, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Bryan was a boilmaker for the AFL-C10 for 50 years. He was a member of the Army. Survivors include his wife, Francis ; a daughter, Barbara Jean Majors of Borger; a brother, Finis Bryan of Pittsburg, Kan.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Calvary Baptist Church of Dumas with the Rev. James Hisel, pastor of First Baptist Church in Sandia, and the Rev. Brad Foster, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. McCubbin had lived in Dumas since 1950. He served in the Army during World War II. He was born June 28, 1917, in Hollis, Okla. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas. He married Lou Starkey on May 20, 1994, in Dumas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Omega Trammell in 1991; and two grandchildren, Susan Thompson in 1996 and Traci Reynolds in 1993. Survivors include his wife, Lou; three daughters, Barbara Ball and husband, Doug, of Dumas, Beth Reynolds and husband, Jerry, of Darrouzett and Terry Stinson and husband, Jerry, of Amarillo; three stepdaughters, Billie Jean Crawford and husband, Glenn, of Carlsbad, N.M., Sandra Kay Cariker of Dumas and Trudy Lynn Goff of Kansas City, Mo.; a stepson, James Arnold Hisel of Sandia; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Mr. Castro was born in Springlake and was a lifetime resident of Cactus. He was a graduate of Dumas High School. He had worked for Bradford Trucking in Cactus and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cactus. Survivors include a son, David Gabriel Castro of Cactus; a daughter, Melissa Ann Castro of Colorado; his parents, Cleofas and Lilia Castro of Cactus; three brothers, Ernest Castro and Cleo Castro, both of Cactus, and Jimmy Castro of El Paso; and two sisters, Delores Vasquez and Anna Vasquez, both of Cactus. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Crues was born in Tahoka and had lived in Amarillo most of her life. She had been a housekeeper at Bivins Memorial Nursing Home before her retirement. She volunteered with Helping Hands at various places including Bivins Memorial Nursing Home and the Com Center at Northwest Texas Hospital. She was the widow of Bob Crues, the home run king of the 1948 Amarillo Gold Sox. They married in 1943. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 26, 1986; and a son, Lynn Crues in 1999. Survivors include three sons, Ronnie Crues of Phoenix, Ariz., Larry Crues and Mark Crues, both of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Harrington Cancer Center or Helping Hands. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 8, 2001 Don Helsley Don Helsley, 50, of Amarillo, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001. Mr. Helsley was born and raised in Fort Worth. He later moved to Amarillo where he met and married Linda. He was a one in a million husband, Dad and Granddaddy. He was an avid hunter and lover of nature. He was a member of Second Baptist Church where he served as a wonderful witness of his faith in God. Survivors include his wife, Linda; a son, Gerald D. Maxwell of California; a daughter, Melissa Emmert of Amarillo; his mother, Bettie Lee of Amarillo; a brother; three sisters; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 8, 2001 Erva Clara Brown Erva Clara Brown, 84, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Bishop Kerry Ormson officiating. Entombment will be in East Mausoleum at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was born in Anamoose, N.D., to Carl and Sophie Ebbert. She spent her early childhood on a farm in North Dakota. After graduating from high school, she attended Mercy Central School of Nursing and Aguinas College in the Grand Rapids, Mich., area. After graduating at the top of her nursing class in 1943, she went on to become a registered nurse in Bay City, Mich. In 1946 she married Roy Flay Brown in Staunton, Va. She continued her working career as they moved to the Western United States. After working in California and Arizona, she retired in Dalhart and moved to Amarillo in 1990. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in 1977, was sealed in marriage at the Arizona Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; three sisters; and a brother. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 8, 2001 Mary Louise Klinke Mary Louise Klinke, 82, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today in St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Pat Carruthers, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Klinke was born in Amarillo and had been a lifetime resident. She was a licensed vocational nurse and worked as the office nurse for Dr. William McCue for 16 years. She was an active member of the St. Anthony's Auxiliary and volunteered at St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church where she was a member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Klinke in 1988; and a son, Fred Klinke in 1985. Survivors include two sons, Carl Bernard Klinke and Larry Klinke, both of Dallas; a daughter, Sandra Kay Cross of Herndon, Va.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 8, 2001 Grover Greenhaw G.C. "Cliff" Greenhaw, 91, of Amarillo, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Northlawn Memorial Gardens at Dumas with J.W. Melton, family friend, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Greenhaw was a Dumas resident from 1948 to 1996 and had since been a resident of Amarillo. He was born Aug. 12, 1910, in Haskell, Okla. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Margaret Morrison on Dec. 4, 1952, in Clayton, N.M. He worked for Diamond Shamrock from 1948 to 1975 and was a member of the Dumas Independent School District School Board from 1963 to 1965. He was a past master of Dumas Masonic Lodge, and a life member of Order of the Silver Trowel of Texas 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason in El Paso. He was a member of the Khiva Temple Shrine in Amarillo and a life member of V.F.W. No. 9022 in Dumas. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Mary Beth Avery and husband, James, of Amarillo and Chrisann Stokes and husband, Jim, of Boerne; a sister, Kathleen Wilkes of Houston; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Plainview Memorial Park. Mrs. Whitfield was born Dec. 22, 1941, in Cartersville. She was a graduate of Plainview High School and West Texas State College. She served the religious community as Sister Catherine Whitfield from 1975 to 1988. She was a hospital chaplain at Covenant Medical Center from June of 2000 to June of 2001. She was a caretaker for her parents, Isaac Louis and Bertha Mary Whitfield from 1988 until May of 2000. She moved to Ogden in June of 2001 after being a resident of Lubbock since 1986. Survivors include two sisters, Dr. Sandra M. Whitfield, M.D., of Ogden and Melrose Wilson of Sweetwater; two brothers, Shelby Whitfield of Lakehurst, N.J., and Lonnie Whitfield of Houston; two nieces, Kim Coomer and Kathy Lackey, both of Lubbock. Gallagher CLAYTON, N.M. - James E. "Jim" Gallagher, 84, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Clayton Memorial Cemetery with George Silva, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Gallagher joined the Army in 1942 and was in the 102nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion until his discharge in 1946. He worked as a filling station attendant in Raton, postmaster for the town of Bueyeros, ranched in the Wagon Mound area and also worked for several area ranches. Survivors include a brother, Chester Gallagher of Bueyeros; aunts; uncles; and cousins. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
