Axelrod BORGER- Kenneth M. Axelrod, 85, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with Earl Herring and Bernard Cohen officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulsa, Okla., by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Axelrod, a member of Borger Rotary Club since 1947, served as past president and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship in 1969 and 1970. He served as a major in the Army Infantry during World War II in the European Theater. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Axelrod; a son, Dwight Axelrod of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Sheryl Springer of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Phyllis Melinger of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 9, 2001 James Michael Davis PANHANDLE - James Michael "Mike" Davis, 50, of Panhandle and formerly of Spearman, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church of Spearman with the Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Burial will be at Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. Mr. Davis graduated from Spearman High School in 1969. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Spearman. He excelled in football, basketball and track in high school. He attended Southern Methodist University and Pratt Junior College on a football scholarship. Mr. Davis was involved in the cattle business most of his life. Most recently, he operated an income tax office. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Blake Meier; and a father-in-law, Don Gensman. His father, a farmer and cattleman, moved to Moore County in 1904. She was employed in retail sales. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 9, 2001 Louise Seibert Young Louise Seibert Young, 76, formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, in Houston. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Chapel of Memories, Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Young died after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. Mrs. Young was born June 4, 1925, in Detroit, Mich., to Warren and Oral May Lovelace Seibert. She was a longtime resident of White Deer and moved to Amarillo in 1967. Mrs. Young was employed by the city of Amarillo, later becoming housing director of Panhandle Community Services. After retirement, she volunteered at the Amarillo Police Department and Meals on Wheels. She moved to Houston in 1995. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Glendon Young. Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Fannon, Marolyn and husband, Roy Armstrong, Ellen Young and husband, Lee Williams; grandchildren Roy G. Armstrong and Cheri and husband, Brad Miller, all of Houston, and Debbie and husband, Clint Carter, of Frisco. She performed in several of the Amarillo Little Theatre productions. She was currently a cast member and dancer in the production TEXAS. Burial will be at Boise City Cemetery. Mr. Sechler was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Lees Summit, Mo., to Samuel K. Sechler and Adah (Jones) Sechler. He married Dorothy Fowler on June 16, 1935, at Boise City.
