Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Haddock of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Harral was born Feb. 20, 1906, in Lancaster. She married Frank J. Harral on Oct. 25, 1929, in Lancaster. She had lived in the Shamrock area since 1932. She had worked as a cook for Shamrock Independent School District, Shamrock General Hospital, Care Inn of Shamrock and several restaurants. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Willard R. Harral and wife, Brenda, of Martinez, Ga., and Paul K. Harral and wife, Harriet, of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Michael R. Harral of San Antonio, Cathy Pratt of Augusta, Ga., Huard B. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 10, 2001 Melvin May - Melvin May, 68, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Central Baptist Church with Dr. Derrell Monday, pastor, and the Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. May was born Jan. 22, 1933, in Wheeler. He graduated from Wheeler High School in 1952. He married Helen Marie Johnson on Jan. 16, 1953, in Wheeler by the Rev. M.B. Smith. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict as an anti-aircraft artillery radar operator. He was a resident of the Wheeler-Mobeetie area until 1995 when he moved to Pampa. He worked in the sand and gravel business as well as custom harvesting with his dad, Amos. He also was involved in farming and ranching and was an independent insurance agent and bank president. He worked for a while with his son, Gary, in oil field contracting and worked with various auction services. He served as deacon at First Baptist Church of Mobeetie and First Baptist Church of Miami, and served as congregational song leader in Mobeetie. He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he served as an usher and was a member of the Adult Six Men's Sunday School Class. He was a Gideon. He was a member of the Tex-Mex Diablos of the Carriage Travel Club serving as president. He was a loving and loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a special place in his heart for children. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Amos and Faye May. Mr. Mayes was born Aug. 16, 1936, in Quanah, the son of the late Jake Layton and Gladys Marie (Crisp) Mayes. He and Barbara Borchardt were married Dec. 27, 1956, in Quanah. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Zion Lutheran Church of Pampa with Leif Hasskarl, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Fichte was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Megargel, Archer County, and was a resident of Holiday before moving to Clarendon in 1968. He married Bessie Seedig on Oct. 11, 1950, in Wichita Falls. In his early life, he was a farmer and the owner and operator of a service station. He was employed in the natural gas utility business for several years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Pampa. Survivors include his wife, Bessie; a son, Ray Fichte of Yukon, Okla.; a brother, Bennie Fichte of Megargel; two sisters, Alma Reeves of Archer City and Ella Neinest of Littlefield; and two grandchildren, Zachary Fichte and Jami Fichte. She was an art teacher for 46 years in Tulia, Pampa, Fort Smith, Ark., Albuquerque, N.M., Lincoln, Neb., Salt Lake City, Utah, and Las Vegas, Nev. She was a member of the first women's basketball team at West Texas State Teachers College. She was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church and the Amity Sunday school class. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star in Pampa. Survivors include her husband; a son, Tom Hutchens of California; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery at Guymon by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Gonzales moved to Guymon from Cactus in the early 1960s. He was engaged in farming most of his working life. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. Mr. Perkins was born in Guymon and graduated from Guymon High School with the class of 1929. He began his career with Phillips 66 Products in 1940, owning and operating Perkins Petroleum. He was an Army Air Corps World War II veteran. He was a past president of Guymon Lions Club, Guymon City Council and the Texas County Equalization Board. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the India Temple Shriners Club. He was an active member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church and was honored as 1992 Texas County Pioneer Days Parade Marshal. He had received a 60-year award from Phillips Petroleum. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys I. Whitley Perkins in 1997. Survivors include a son, Ivan S. "Si" Perkins III and wife, Sharon; three grandchildren, Chris Perkins, Julie Perkins and Laurie Perkins, all of Guymon; and a great-grandson, Tyler Perkins of Guymon. He was 44. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Paramount Baptist Church. Mr. Whitaker was born Feb. 7, 1957, at Amarillo. He attended River Road Junior High School and graduated from Caprock High School in 1975. He attended Amarillo College. He lived in Dallas and Trinidad working in construction before joining the Navy 14 years ago. He was an information specialist technician onboard the USS Russell, which was on a six-month deployment to the Middle East. Survivors include his wife, Melinda; a daughter, Lindsay Whitaker; a son, Ross Whitaker, all of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; his mother, Glenda Faye Sain of Amarillo; two brothers, Roger Whitaker of Amarillo and Rodney Whitaker of Phoenix.
