He married Jean Shults June 12, 1948, in Clovis, N.M. Arturo Meza, pastor. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Miss Archuleta was born July 30, 1952, in Monte Vista, Colo., to Jose Edmundo and Flora Ida Archuleta. She married Armando Medina in May 1978, in Monte Vista. Amarillo Globe-News, May 10, 2001 Beulah Messenger FRIONA - Beulah Messenger, 95, died Monday, May 7, 2001, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with Dr. Charlie Jones, pastor of Second Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. in Friona Cemetery. Mrs. Messenger was employed by a widower with six children. She subsequently married him, George C. Messenger. He preceded her in death in 1952. She was "Mama" to a blended family of six children. Mrs. Messenger lived with her son, Roy, in Amarillo, until hospitalization became necessary a few weeks ago. The Messengers lived on the family farm 131/2 miles northwest of Friona, until a few years after Mr. Messsenger's death in 1952. Mrs. Messenger was the 10th child of 11 born to George Washington and Mary Weaks. All of her brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a son, Steve Messenger of Amarillo; and by a daughter, Elsie Larson of Denver. Survivors include children, Rosalie Carter of Albuquerque, N.M., Loyd Messenger of Manteca, Calif., Floyd Messenger of Corsicana, Ralph Messenger of Lubbock, Nancy Noggler of Shell Lake, Wis., Roy Messenger of Amarillo and John Messenger of Houston. Mrs. Messenger was "Nanny" or grandmother to 24 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Arthritis Foundation. Besides being Mama and Nanny to her family, friends, neighbors and others knew her as a seamstress and quiltmaker. Mrs. Simmons married Ollie Simmons on Nov. 2, 1962, at Lakeview. She was a homemaker. Mr. Gerber married Alvina Schmucker on June 4, 1948, in Nazareth. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Miller was born in Belton. She was a longtime member of the Baptist church. She had lived in Plainview for 17 years, Roaring Springs for 27 years, Amarillo for five years and had spent the last seven years in Burnet. She was a bookkeeper. She married Robert Wayne Miller, a letter carrier, on May 16, 1934, at Big Wells. He preceded her in death in 1992. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary Fountain, in 1998. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Muriel and Lindley Davis of Burnet; one sister, Hortense Dunlap of Brownfield; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in River Road Fellowship with Faye Roberts, pastor, and Joe Kirkwood, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. McLaughlin was born in Willow, Okla. He was raised in Panhandle and graduated from Panhandle High School. Rex worked for Howard's Mechanical for many years before starting Mel Mac Plumbing & Co., with his wife and son. He owned and operated the company from 1984 until the time of his death. He married Mel Melot in 1984 at Amarillo. Mr. McLaughlin was a founding member, as well as general contractor, for the buildings of River Road Fellowship. He was preceded in death by his father, L.J. "Buddy" McLaughlin, in 1990; and by his sister, Sue Lanier, in 2000. Survivors include his wife, Mel of Tres Ritos, N.M; a son, Sam R. McLaughlin Jr. of Amarillo; five daughters, Zulieka Welch and Susie King, both of Amarillo, Reba "Duzie" McLaughlin of Penasco, N.M., Kristen Ramirez of Tres Ritos and Holly Price of Waxahachie; his mother, Alice McLaughlin of Panhandle; a brother, Louie McLaughlin of Amarillo; two sisters, Patsy McNeal of Lubbock and Diane Grumbles of Muleshoe; 19 grandchildren; and four "special sons," Mike King, Dean McClure and Tony Roberts, all of Amarillo, and Lanny Ramirez of Tres Ritos. Mrs. Guill was a lab technician for Franklin Serum Co., and retired in 1972. She had been a resident of Bivins Memorial Nursing Home for the past 21/2 years. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Dorie Kile; and by many brothers and sisters. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Dorothy Guill of Amarillo; a brother, Frank Black of Odessa; two granddaughters, Sharon Savage and Brenda Kile, both of Amarillo; three great-grandsons; four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many good friends. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Sayle was born in Singleton. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1947. She owned and operated a motel, grocery store and rental property in Amarillo for many years. Mrs. Sayle played piano for Parkview Christian Church, Oakdale Christian Church, and Highland Christian Church. She was a member and played piano at Washington Avenue Christian Church. She married Gerald Warren Sayle in 1940 at Big Spring. He passed away in 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine McBride of Amarillo; a sister, Gertrude Vivian Staggs of Mirando City; two grandchildren, Michael McBride and Megan McBride, both of Amarillo. Amarillo Globe-News, May 10, 2001 Katherine Louise Seewald Katherine Louise "Katie" Lynn Seewald, 78, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Llano Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Perry Hunsaker, associate pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Seewald was born Oct. 20, 1922, in Hall County, Estelline. She grew up nearby in Collingsworth County, Wellington, the only child of William H. Lynn and Amy Brewer. She was a member of the first graduating class of the University of Texas, new College of Fine Arts in 1943. During the remainder of World War II, Katherine, always known as "Katie," was a vacation relief agent for Trans World Airlines. In July of 1947, she and Hughes Seewald, who preceded her in death, married at Tucumcari, N.M. Mrs. Seewald was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Amarillo Junior League, the Texas Archeological Society, as well as a life member and former director of the Panhandle-Plains Historical Society. She served on numerous boards such as the Potter County Historical Commission and the Texas Historical Foundation in furtherance of her long commitment to historic preservation. Mrs. Seewald attended the 1952 Republican convention in Chicago as an Eisenhower delegate. Her part helping Eisenhower secure the nomination led to a lifelong participation in Republican politics and a commitment to bring two-party politics to the state of Texas. Katie was a founding member of the local Republican Women's Club. She served on the board of directors of the Dallas Opera. Mrs. Seewald's father, an early Panhandle banker, who went on to become the general manager of Lafayette Hughes' ranching properties in the southeast Texas Panhandle. Her mother briefly taught school in Estelline upon settling in this area. Amy Lynn was active in the Texas Fine Arts Association as an artist, as well as a professional portraitist. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Louise Seewald of Amarillo; a son, William Hughes Seewald of Amarillo; a grandson, Jacob Seewald McKinney of Austin; and a son-in-law, Johnny W. Micou of Amarillo. Mrs. Inmon was a rancher and homemaker. She spent 30 years in Lamar County before returning to Hale County. Survivors include a son, Ernest Clay Inmon Jr.; two daughters, Nancy Jane McVay and Molly Jean Huffman; six grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in United Methodist Church. Private services for the family will be held this summer. Arrangements are by Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa. Mrs. Hohlaus left her birth home of Amarillo and lived in the Virgin Islands, Georgia, Morocco, Florida, Kansas, Oklahoma and Utah. She received her bachelor's degree in teaching at West Texas State Teachers College and her master's degree in fine art painting at the University of Oklahoma.
