Ramos Manuel V. Ramos, 67, formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, April 9, 2001, in Park Rapids, Minn. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Mr. Ramos was born in Sweetwater. He lived in Amarillo most of his life and moved to Park Rapids in 2000. He was a custodian for Hubbard County Courthouse in Park Rapids. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evangelina Flores; and by a brother, Chon E. Ramos. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Jackson of Amarillo; a son, Chon Ramos of Santa Ana, Calif.; a sister, Rachel Chavez of Amarillo; and a grandson. The family will be at 811 S. Bivins. Amarillo Daily News, April 12, 2001 Roy Blevins Roy Blevins, 75, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Blevins married Betty Delany in 1949 at Clovis, N.M. At the time he was working for Long Bell Lumber Co. He was born in Mountainburg, Ark. He grew up in Watonga, Okla. He worked for Long Bell 19 years in Watonga and also in Waynoka, Okla., Ponca City, Okla., Dodge City, Kan., Clovis, N.M., and Amarillo. He then worked for Lubbock Sash and Door Co. for 23 years as a sales representative. He retired in 1988. Mr. Blevins was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Henry Brown memorial class, Heritage Club and Heritage Choir. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bruce Wayne Blevins and Mark Alan Blevins, both of Amarillo and Gary Scott Blevins of Abilene; three sisters, Vesta Eliot of Wichita, Kan., Winona Daniel of Porterville, Calif., and Wanda Wheeler of Livonia, Mich.; four brothers, Henry Blevins of Bartlesville, Okla., Lester Blevins of Watonga, Elmer Blevins of Wichita, Kan., and Howard Blevins of Colfax, Calif.; and nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Peacher was born in Indian Mound, Tenn. She graduated from Stewart County High School in Dover, Tenn. She attended Amarillo College. She married Billy Peacher in Corinth, Miss., in 1953. She worked for the Amarillo Independent School District and at Dazzle. Mrs. Peacher was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for 35 years. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Janet Homen and Suzanne Glenn, both of Amarillo and Jennifer Peacher of Dallas; four sisters, Dorothy Chapman, Jewel Naive, Maxine Goodwin and Rachael Phillips, all of Nashville, Tenn.; three brothers, Herman Elbert Lehman Jr. of Woodlawn, Tenn., and Curdine Lehman and Donald Lehman, both of Indian Mound; five grandchildren, Grant Homen and wife, Elizabeth, Chase Homen, Halley Homen, Benjamin Glenn and Beth Ann Glenn, all of Amarillo; and a great-grandson, Reed Homen of Amarillo. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Taylor was born June 2, 1914, in Union County, to Charles Martin Hemphill and Annetta Brown Hemphill. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Clayton, where she taught Sunday school for more than 30 years. Amarillo Daily News, April 12, 2001 Edith Beckham Whelan ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Edith Beckham Wallace Whelan, 80, died Sunday, April 8, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in French Mortuary Chapel with Rodger Burnett Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Mrs. Whelan was a resident of Albuquerque for 51 years. She was a member of the Albuquerque Civic Choir in the 1950s. She was past president of the New Mexico China Painters Guild and was active with the Highland Senior Citizens Center. She was eligible for the Daughters of the American Revolution and one of her direct ancestors, Sarah Josepha Hale was responsible for the proclamation of the national holiday we now celebrate as Thanksgiving Day. Mrs. Whelan was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Theodore and Nellie Jane Beckham; husband, Jack Leon Wallace whom she married in 1938, and who passed on in 1965; husband, C.M. "Tod" Whelan who passed on in 1988; son, Doyle W. Wallace; granddaughter, Lisa Rouanne Burnett; sister, Herma L. Ogle; and brothers, Harold T. Beckham and George H. Beckham. Survivors include two sons, Gary M. Wallace and wife, Linda, of Seattle and Paul S. Wallace of Albuquerque; two daughters, Charmianne "Charmy" LeaVell and husband, Lonnie, of Gooding, Idaho and Jacquelyn K. Schaefer of Albuquerque; a brother, Doyle H. Mr. Avant was born Sept. 5, 1927 in Frederick, Okla. He had lived in Granbury for six years. He was a retired teacher. He married Berva Morris Avant. He was a member of the First Methodist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Avant was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Avant. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dewayne Avant and wife, Chida, of Amarillo; a daughter, Beverley Scott of Amarillo; three brothers, Harold Avant of Grandfield, Okla., and Paul Avant and Donald Avant, both of Loveland, Okla.; several nieces, grand-nieces and grandnephews; and a host of friends. Fuqua, 72, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Palo Duro Cemetery at Wildorado with Sam Line, Church of Christ minster at Vega, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Fuqua was born in Wildorado and had been a resident for over 50 years. He was a farmer and rancher. He married Betty Ann McKaughan on March 13, 1946 at Pilot Point. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2001. He was a 50-year Mason with membership in Vega Masonic Lodge No. 899. He was a Methodist. Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Batenhorst of Vega and Cynthia Ann Rice of Canyon; a brother, Howard Fuqua of Amarillo; five granddaughters, Ericka Turgeon of Amarillo, Lisa Batenhorst of Wildorado, Jennifer Batenhorst of Vega, Kendra Meador of Hereford and Kalena Rice of Canyon; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Wagoner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens of Dumas by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Hagler, a former longtime Coleman resident, had lived in Dumas since 1964. He married Carolyn Monroe on Feb. 10, 1956, in Coleman. He was a volunteer for Babe Ruth and past president of Dumas Little League. He retired from Diamond Shamrock as an operator, after 32 years. Mr. Hagler was born Feb. 6, 1936, in Coleman. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lance Hagler of West Point, Va., and Tracy Hagler of Amarillo; two daughters, Sherri and Mike Perkins and Christy and Kerry Garrison, all of Dumas; two brothers, Glenn Hagler of Coleman and Jimmy Hagler of Clyde; a sister, Nelda Hunter of Putnam; and three granddaughters, Alysa Perkins, Krystle Perkins and Kelsey Garrison, all of Dumas. Mrs. Hermosillo moved from Mexico to Wheeler in 1997. She was a Catholic. Survivors include her husband, Tomas Hermosillo; two sons, Miguel Hermosillo Lopez of Chihuahua and Cesar Hermosillo Lopez of Elk City, Okla.; two daughters, Rosa Maria Hermosillo and Maria Del Refugio, both of Canadian; four brothers, Antonio Lopez and Benito Lopez, both of Wheeler and Rafael Lopez and Manuel Lopez, both of Chihuahua; a sister, Alicia Lopez of Wheeler; and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Moseley came to Deaf Smith County from Tokio, Texas in 1910. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hereford. Survivors include three granddaughters, Jerry Lynn Sigman of San Antonio, Mary Rosel of Dallas and Linda Sue of California; a grandson, Randall Moseley of Mexico; many great-grandchildren; and caregiver and son-in-law, G.S.
