Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Chambers had been a resident of Pampa since 1906. She was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring after 40 years of service. Survivors include two great-nephews, C.E. Cantrell of San Antonio and Paul Cantrell of New York City; and a great-niece, Jimma Crossman of Pampa. Mr. Manuel married the former Edna Floyd Feb. 24, 1934, in Childress. He was a welder for the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation for 33 years. Amarillo Globe-News, July 12, 2001 Amarillo Nancy D. Scheutzow Nancy D. Scheutzow, 79, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 8, 2001. No services are planned. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Scheutzow was born in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. She came to America in 1948 and became a United States citizen by her choice. She married Elmer James Scheutzow in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 30, 1950. Mrs. Scheutzow was very involved in community activities such as volunteering at the Veteran's Hospital and speaking to women's groups about her involvement in World War II. She was a world traveler. She loved to talk and was a great conversationalist. She was involved in politics and supported the Republican party and the candidates. Mrs. Scheutzow moved to Amarillo in 1976. She was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. She loved gardening, especially her roses. She was adored by everyone she met. Survivors include her husband; a son, Martin James Scheutzow of Phoenix; a sister, Josephine Ella of Cheltenham; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Cancer Research, 3915 S. Services were Tuesday at Benbrook Funeral Home Chapel, in Benbrook. Burial was in Benbrook Cemetery. Mrs. Melton was born July 3, 1917, in Hollis, Okla., to the late Henry and Sarah Adams. A longtime resident of Spearman, she moved to Amarillo in 1962, to Shawnee, Okla. in 1996, and to Fort Worth in September. Survivors include two sons, Jim McLain of Fort Worth and Lester McLain of Spearman; a sister, Juanita Arrington of Shawnee; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Jackson was born in Dalhart and grew up and attended school in Vega. She moved to Amarillo in 1951. She attended Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Mrs. Jackson had been a manager of accounting and investments for over 40 years. Before her retirement she was an investment manager for Western National Life Insurance Co. She was a certified graphoanalyst, which is a handwriting analysis expert. Survivors include her husband, Royce "Buck" Jackson; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Molly Jackson of Amarillo; two brothers, Harold Dillehay of Canyon and Jerry O'Connor of Wildorado; and a grandson, Tyler Jackson. Hammer Jesse R. Hammer, 86, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jody Meason, of Cornerstone Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Hammer retired from West Texas Equipment in 1979. He served on the Bushland School Board. Mr. Hammer was a charter member of Bykota Baptist Church in Amarillo. He was currently a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Amarillo. He was a resident of Clairmont Retirement Center in Amarillo since 1998. In 1979, he retired from West Texas Equipment. He also was employed by Texas Sand and Gravel, Fuqua Ranch, and the LS Ranch. He was an avid high school basketball fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Idell Hammer, two infant sons and ten siblings. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Thompson of Claude and Beth Carroll of Midwest City, Okla.; a brother, Paul Hammer of Escondido, Calif.; a sister, Clara Johnson of Avant, Okla.; four grandsons and a granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-great-grandchild. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Jones came to Amarillo in 1964 from Midland. She was a member of St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church. She was born Jan. 18, 1914, in Texarkana, Ark., to Ellis W. and Catherine Murray. She graduated from Providence Academy in 1931. She and Toy Jones were united in marriage on Feb. 27, 1941, in Texarkana. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 3, 1998, and by a brother and four sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Loretto Cook of Ennis; three sons, T. Mike Jones of Amarillo and Joe M. Jones, both of Amarillo, and Robert F. Ms. Youngblood was born Sept. 23, 1935, in the Chamberlain community of Donley County. She lived there until age 16. She had been an Amarillo resident most of her adult life. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Amarillo. Ms. Youngblood was preceded in death by two daughters, Wynona Gayle Grace and Vunnona Belle Harmon; and by three grandchildren. Mr. Crabb was born in Amarillo and was a lifelong resident. He worked in a paint and body shop.
