She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. James McLeod, pastor of First Baptist Church of Wellington, officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown was born June 23, 1922, to George K. Patterson and Lelar Johnson Patterson, in Collingsworth County. She married Jack Brown on Jan. 31, 1943, in Hollis, Okla. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2000. Ruby was a resident of Amarillo for 20 years, until moving back to Wellington in 1978. She was a homemaker. She was a Baptist. She also was preceded in death by a sister and five brothers. Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Brown of Denison and Johnny Lee Brown of Amarillo; a daughter, Jackie Lynn Boddye of Crowley, La.; a sister, Hazel Guill of Huffman; two brothers, Johnny Patterson of Hereford and Billy Joe Patterson of Wellington; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Gerald Clark, associate pastor, and the Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired Assembly of God pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery of Sunray by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Caudle, a Dumas resident since 1993, was a prior resident of Sunray since 1945. She was a member of the Assembly of God in Sunray. She was born Aug. 4, 1923, in Roger Mills County. She married James Caudle on Feb. 28, 1941, in Cheyenne, Okla. He preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1983. She also was preceded in death by a son, Albert Caudle, in 1995. He was a veteran of the Navy. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Trinity Fellowship Church with the Rev. W.L. Scott officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Mr. Parkinson was born to Gloria and Thomas H. Parkinson III, in Oakland, Calif., on Sept. 17, 1964. He attended public schools in Oakland, Borger and Amarillo. He married Audrey Renee Westmoreland in Oakland on Nov. 18, 1985. Thomas graduated with honors from Laney College in Oakland and with an associate degree in science, majoring in engineering technology, as well as architectural engineering technology. He and his wife returned to Amarillo in 1995. In 1996, he became the proud father of a son, Kyle Hilliard Parkinson. At the time of his death, Thomas was employed by Brandt Engineers Inc. He was formerly employed by the city of Amarillo as an engineering technician. Mr. Parkinson was a volunteer for the HOSTS mentor program. Survivors include his wife; his son, Kyle; his mother and stepfather, Gloria and the Rev. W.L. Scott of Borger; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Parkinson III of Oakland, Calif.; a sister, Deona Roberson of Antioch, Calif.; and two brothers, John Parkinson of San Lorenzo, Calif., and Derrick Mitchell of Houston; grandmother, Mrs. Torrance Parkinson of Kansas City, Mo.; and grandmother and grandfather, Mr. and Mrs. Levie Daniels of Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Walker, on Dec. 18, 1998. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens at Clovis, N.M., with the Rev. Richard Rodriguez officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Gast served in World War II. He had worked for Ford Motors, Karl's Auto Clinic, Farwell Feed Lot, Gifford Hill, Farwell schools and for area farmers before retiring. Mrs. Gast worked for the civil service, Aldridge and Aldridge, Gifford Hill Western and Franse Irrigation Inc. before retiring. She married Arthur Otto Gast on Dec. 24, 1936, in Portales, N.M. Their survivors include two daughters, Sherry Caudill of Vancouver, Wash., and Judy Abernathy of Abilene; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a greatgreat-grandchild. His survivors also include two brothers, Smokey Gast of Farwell and Shorty Gast of Galveston; and a sister, Bertha Reynolds of Clovis. Mr. Barrow worked as a brakeman and conductor for the Santa Fe Railway, retiring in 1987 after 46 years of service. He served in the Army in World War II and the Korean War. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church in Geary with the Rev. Patrick McPherson, pastor, officiating. Private burial was in the Geary Cemetery. Arrangements are by Turner Funeral Home in Geary and Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle, in Amarillo. Mrs. Fancher was born in Throckmorton, in 1901, to George and Nancy Wright. After attending Baylor University, she taught at Amarillo High School. She married Edward Alexander Fancher in 1926. They moved from Wellington, Texas to Geary in 1928. She was a partner with her husband in the Chevrolet auto dealership, Geary Motor Co. Mrs. Fancher was a member of the United Methodist Church of Geary, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Clover Leaf Club and Chapter F of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987. Survivors include two sons, Edward Alexander Fancher Jr. of Amarillo and Robert Clark Fancher of Corpus Christi; a sister, Temperance Gibbons of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. Graveside memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Grimes was a longtime resident of Amarillo. He worked for Asarco, retiring after 25 years. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Houser of Littleton and Becky Bruce of Aurora; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. "Jim" Barron, in Red Bank, N.J., on Feb. 20, 1942. She worked with her husband in their ranching business. Survivors include a son, Jim Barron III of Angel Fire, N.M.; two daughters, Amanda Coyle of Virginia Beach, Va., and Molly Day of McKinney; a sister, May Swenson of Essex Fells, N.J.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, April 13, 2001 Melvin Clay Kunkel AUSTIN - Melvin Clay Kunkel, 84, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church in Amarillo. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Cook-Walden Funeral Home of Austin and Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Kunkel graduated from Seguin High School in 1937 and worked for the International Boundary Commission. He joined the Navy in 1942 and served in the South Pacific as a member of the Seabees during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the service, he attended and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1950 with a degree in industrial engineering. After graduation, Melvin worked for Southwestern Public Service in the Lubbock, Slaton, Pampa, Levelland and Amarillo areas. He was an active deacon for the Baptist Church in the areas he served and went to Taiwan as a lay missionary. He is remembered by many as "Uncle Kunkel." He was an active member in the Rotary Club, state director of AARP, Kiwanis Club, the Scottish Rite and Masonic Lodge No. 1239 and the First Texas Silver Haired Legislature. He also served as a guest speaker for many clubs, schools and churches. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Doris Richardson of Floresville. Survivors include his second wife, Gladys Allen-Kunkel and family of Austin; his daughter, Wanda Richerson and husband, Carey Richerson; a sister, Emily Smith of Longview; and three grandchildren, Jeremy Wilcox, Amanda Richerson and Carrie Lynn Richerson. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers be to Crestview Baptist Church, 7600 Woodrow Ave., Austin, TX 78757; Bannockburn Baptist Church, 7100 Brodie Lane, Austin, TX 78745; or to First Baptist Church of Amarillo. Open visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors. The family will receive visitors from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Amarillo. Melvin was much loved by all and will be missed.
