Russell Lawrence J. Russell, 69, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Bolton Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Green, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery with military rites rendered by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Russell was born in Wheeler. He had lived in Amarillo 20 years, moving from Coleman. He was a truck driver for more than 30 years and retired from Texas Feed Fat in 1992. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Brown Russell; two daughters, Temmie Conley and Elizabeth Belter, both of Amarillo; seven sons, Larry Russell, Bobby Russell, Rodney Russell and Terry Massey, all of Amarillo, Jimmy Russell of Tuttle, Okla., and Richard Russell and Steve Russell, both of Dalhart; three sisters, Ruth Gallant of Denver City, Donnie Parks of Coleman and Ruby Nailon of Oklahoma City; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hillcrest Cemetery at McLean with the Rev. Brian Quisenberry, pastor of First Baptist Church in McLean, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Kite was born in Arkansas and was a longtime resident of McLean until moving to Amarillo in 1986. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin Kite, in 1986. Survivors include a son, Don Kite Sr. of Amarillo; a brother, Bruce Hugg of Brazoria; two sisters, Ethel Pool of Jenks, Okla., and Maxola Andrews of Port Hueneme, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. He was a truck driver and worked for American Milk Producers. He had worked for Lake Steel, Coors and Miller distributors and Coca-Cola Distributors. He was married to Linda Kay Moore 25 years ago in Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Amy Janette Gallmeier of Amarillo and Melissa Jan Hayworth of Corpus Christi; a son, Kevin Ray Knox of Wichita, Kan.; his mother, Martha Ellis of Pampa; five brothers, Jimmy Smith of Amarillo, Jackie Smith, John Smith and Joseph Smith, all of Pampa and David Dykes of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Mary Rider, Alma Lewis and Gloria Green, all of Pampa; and eight grandchildren. The family will be at 4870 Broadway Drive. Amarillo Daily News, Feb. 13, 2001 Elan F. Srader Elan F. Srader, 79, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in South Georgia Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Field and the Rev. Bob Miller officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Srader was born in Hollis, Okla. He graduated from Williams High School. He served in the Army Air Corps as a member of the 596th Bombardment Squadron. He earned several medals, including six Bronze Stars. He worked for Shamrock Oil and Gas for 18 years. In 1986, he retired after 23 years as a custodian at Tascosa High School. Mr. Srader was a member of the Nazarene church and attended South Georgia Baptist Church for several years. He was married to Christine Swaim in 1940. She died in 1966. He was married to Velma Robinson Wells in 1977 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Rev. Duane Srader of Houston, Doug Srader of Amarillo, Dennis Srader of Middleburg, Fla., Joe Wells of Mulberry, Fla., and Don Wells of Arizona; two daughters, Pam Morris and Karen Wells, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Gene Srader of Dumas and Harold Srader of Shattuck, Okla.; two sisters, Ila Daniel and Wanna Beth Hanna, both of Dumas; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Feb. 13, 2001 New Mexico Wanda Jean Humphrey CLOVIS, N.M. - Wanda Jean Humphrey, 66, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, in Lubbock. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in The Chapel with Ken White Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Humphrey was born in Brownfield, Texas. She attended schools in Brownfield and Sherwood College in Denton, where she received her Montessori certification. She moved to Clovis in 1951. Mrs. Humphrey owned and operated Humphrey Montessori School for 34 years and was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was married to Robert Humphrey in 1953 at Clovis. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Humphrey. Survivors include her husband; a son, Samuel J. Humphrey of Amarillo; two brothers, Perry Crawley of Lake Montezuma, Ariz., and Jack Chambless of Lake Buchanan; and a sister, Mary Frances Carter of Lubbock. Mr. Lane, a native of Gresham, Ore., had attended school in Amarillo. He moved to Macon in 1996, where he was a security guard for Professional Pest and a member of Macon Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Heidi Lane; two daughters, Mariah Williams and Chyanne Lane, both of Macon; a son, River Lane of Macon; his parents, Bob and Lynn Lane of Macon; a brother, Robert Lane of Dallas; and grandparents, Dorothy Townsend of Gresham and grandfather, Harold Townsend of Colton, Ore. Mrs. Nowlin was born in Tulsa, Okla., and had lived in the Perryton area since 1938. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Senior Citizens, the Girl Scout Council and the Women's Auxiliary of the Texas Optometrist Association. She was married to Reese Nowlin in 1941 at Perryton. He died in 1991. Survivors include two sons, Billy Nowlin of Perryton and Richard Nowlin in Booker; a daughter, T.J. Vaughn of Fayetteville, Ark.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Perryton Sports Booster Club or a favorite charity. Mr. Bryant was born in Dallas and had lived in Claude three years before recently moving to Amarillo. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and was a retired driver for Yellow Freight System. He was a member of the Pentecostal church. He was married to Victoria Lee in 1955 at Conyers, Ga. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patricia Arlene Williams of Granbury and Laura Lynn Carroll of Quanah; two sisters, Betty June Boswell of Waxahachie and Sylvia Deel of Irving; two brothers, R.T. Bryant of Alba and Kalcy Bryant of Irving; five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. The body will be available for viewing from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. She was a homemaker and a Lutheran. She was married to R.C. "Bob" Vinson Sr. in 1931 at Guymon, Okla. He died in 1989. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Martin Monroe Vinson in 1988, and Robert James Vinson in 1933. Mr. Linville was born in Plainview and attended Plainview schools. He served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He was a fireman at the Amarillo Air Force Base and retired in 1969. He was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Pentecostal Church of God. Survivors include five brothers, Jerry Linville of Columbus, Ga., Larry Linville and Loyd Linville, both of Plainview, Emmett Lee Linville of Stockton, Mo., and Floyd Linville of Lubbock; and four sisters, Mary Jo Linville and Linda Breckenridge, both of Plainview; Marilyn Helms of Paris and Helen Sharp of Granbury. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church. She was married to Joe Sells in 1933. He died in 1945. She also was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Joe Sells, in 1982. Survivors include two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and three greatgreat-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Feb. 13, 2001 Bernice Anderson TULIA - Bernice Anderson, 82, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church in Vigo Park with the Rev. Gary Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Milo Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Anderson was born in Smyer, N.M., and grew up east of Tulia in the Vigo Park area. She attended school in Red Hill community and Vigo Park. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vigo Park. She was married to Dave Anderson in 1937 at Tulia. They farmed in the Vigo Park area for many years. He died in 1991. Survivors include four daughters, Hazel Pofahl of Plainview, Donna Anderson and Wanda Gamble, both of Amarillo and Rita McCollum of Tulia; a son, Walter Anderson of Plainview; two stepdaughters, Betty Wesley and Sue Langston; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Milo Cemetery. Amarillo Daily News, Feb. 13, 2001 E.N. Babcock GROOM - E.N. "Bud" Babcock, 76, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church. The Rev. Neal Dee and Monsignor Kevin Hand are officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mr. Babcock was born in Groom. He was a farmer. During World War II he served in the Army with the 7th Armored, earning several medals and ribbons, including the Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was married to Margaret Britten in 1946 at Groom. She died in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Barclay of Vega; three sons, Kenneth Babcock, Dennis Babcock and Gary Don Babcock, all of Groom; a sister, Zoah Britten of Wheeler; and nine grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Susan Babcock Harp Memorial Scholarship Fund at West Texas A&M; the Groom Ambulance Fund or a favorite charity.
