Mr. Griffin was born in Goree and had lived in Pampa since 1937. An artist, he was a house and sign painter and made neon signs. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 889. He was married to Patricia Brooks in 1909 at Goree. He was married to Emma Lou McGee in 1937 at McLean. Survivors include his wife. Amarillo Daily News, Feb. 14, 2001 Katherine Hagar DUMAS - Katherine Hagar, 80, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Morrison Funeral Directors Chapel with the Gerald Clark, assistant pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Mrs. Hagar was born in Bonham. A former longtime resident of Dalhart, she moved to Dumas in 1952. She was a homemaker and a member of Bible Baptist Church. She was married to C.W. "Clifford" Hagar in 1962 at Dumas. He died in 1987. Survivors include three daughters, Florene Wolfe of Amarillo and Pat Lovett and Judy Pendleton, both of Sunray; a stepson, Clifford Hagar Jr. of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Barbara Pool of Amarillo and Pat Tobias of Dumas; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Mobeetie Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. Beck was born in Lee County, N.M., and moved at an early age with her family to Mobeetie. A graduate of Mobeetie High School, she worked as a sales clerk at Montgomery Ward and retired as Mobeetie city secretary in 1990. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mobeetie, where she taught Sunday school and directed the choir. She moved to Pampa in 1993. She was married to Ottis Glen "Jingles" Beck in 1934 at Wheeler. He died in 1970. Survivors include a daughter, Glynnda Leatherman of Pampa; a brother, C.W. He moved from Amarillo to Fritch in 1993. During the Vietnam War, he served in the Army. He was a machinist for Phillips Refinery and a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He was married to Mary Garcia in 1994 at Fritch. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth Winter of Honolulu and Roman Alejandro of Fritch; two daughters, Desiree Alejandro of Fritch and Kelly Zimmerman of Amarillo; a brother, Robert Winter of Milwaukee; a sister, Karen Winger of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; and a granddaughter. Mrs. Curry was a member of Parent Education, the Hospital Auxiliary and the Junior Service League. She was a member of Twentieth Century Forum, the Kit Kat Club and First United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was married to Bob Curry in 1937. During World War II he served in the Navy aboard the USS Makin Island in the Pacific. He retired from Cornell and Company as an accountant in 1982. He was a Rotarian, a Mason and a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, where he taught the Homebuilders Sunday school class. Mr. Adams was married to Maurine England in 1932 at Clayton. She died in May. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Adams, in 1939; and by a son, Larry Adams, in 1935. Survivors include four daughters, Janet Wheeler of El Paso, Beth Serratt and Karen Adams-Smith, both of Amarillo and Deanne Knotts of Clayton; a son, James D. Georgia St. Mrs. Barber was born in Pittsburgh. She earned her nursing degree from the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. After retiring as a registered nurse from High Plains Baptist Hospital in 1985, she worked as a receptionist for Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice. She was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. She was married to Curtis Barber in Pittsburgh. He died in 1975. Mrs. Brandon was born in Logan, W.Va. After graduating from high school she moved to Phoenix, where she worked for Valley National Bank. She was married to Charles Clifton Brandon in 1948 at Phoenix. They farmed in the Chandler, Ariz. area, and in 1961 moved to Clovis. She owned and operated Brandon Greenhouses. Mrs. Brandon was a pianist at Templo Bautista and a missionary volunteer in El Salvador. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and taught preschoolers in Sunday school. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Charlie Brandon and Jim Brandon, both of Clovis; two daughters, Mary Pattison of Clovis and Susie Griggs of Lubbock, Texas; 11 grandchildren and four great-granddaughters. Moten CLOVIS, N.M. - Hazel B. Moten, 75, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Johns Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Callahan officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Moten was born in Clarksville, Texas and moved to Clovis in 1942. She was a cook for Joe's Truck Stop, Hotel Clovis and La Villa Steakhouse. She was a member of St. Johns Baptist Church, where she was a missionary past president, sang in the choir and served on the church cooking committee. She was a member of the usher board and a deaconess of the church. Mrs. Moten was a home health care senior companion. She was married to Will Moten in 1941 at Clarksville. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Willie Moten of Denver; three daughters, Thelma Moten and Sandra Cole, both of Clovis and Ola Anderson of Concord, N.C.; a sister, Mary Freeman of Phoenix; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. They moved to Guymon from Skellytown, Texas, in 1967. She worked for the Guymon school system as a cook. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, where she was involved in the Prime Timer's Group. She was a member of Guymon Lioness Club and had lived in Liberal the past two years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990. A veteran of the Navy, he served during the Korean War aboard the USS Hamul AD20. He coached baseball and basketball for Optimist International and was a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Texas Association of Realtors. He owned and operated DeLoma Real Estate Inc., and was a member of First Baptist Church in Pampa. He was married to Mardelle Barnett in 1955 at Mena. Private family services and burial arrangements were by Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary of San Diego. Mr. Messenger was born in the Middlewell community near Channing, Texas. He graduated from Dumas High School at Dumas, Texas, and attended West Texas State College at Canyon, Texas. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Marshall Islands. He was a retired firefighter with N.I.N.A.S. at the Marine Base in San Diego. Survivors include four sisters, Marcialete Ledgerwood of Dumas, Polly Goettsche of Higgins, Texas, Virginia Frasier of Amarillo and Beverly Barber of Kerrville, Texas; and two brothers, Pat Messenger of Amarillo and Neil Messenger of Garden City, Kan.
