Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Geary Martin officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Riggins worked as a custodian for Perryton Schools for 23 years. She attended school in Electra. Survivors include her husband, Howard; two sons, Paul Alexander of Lewisville and Michael Downs of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Carol Williams of Amarillo and Ronda Williams of Perryton; two stepchildren, Glenda Jacobs of Alabama and Johnny Riggins of Westminster, Calif.; two brothers, Loy Downs of Newcastle, Wyo., and J.B. Downs of Kamay; two sisters, Mada Riggins of Archer City and Frances Klein of Electra; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 14, 2001 Juanita Thompson White WELLINGTON - Juanita Thompson White, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Church of Christ with Alfred White of Claude officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. White was born March 14, 1917, at Miles to Ollie E. Thompson and Martha E. Benton Thompson. She graduated form Quail High School, attended Clarendon College and received her teaching certificate from West Texas State University. She married Chester White on Nov. 18, 1933, at Hollis, Okla.. She taught school at Quail and Wellington, retiring in 1983. She authored three children's books and a cookbook. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997 and an infant daughter. Survivors include two sons, Neal White of King of Prussia, Penn., and Gary White and wife, Janice of Encampment, Wyo.; and five grandchildren, Brandon White, Tracy White, Richie White, Chris Bentsen and Cody Bentsen. The family suggests memorials be to Westview Boys Home. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 14, 2001 Floyce Atkins Green WILDORADO - Floyce Atkins Green, 95, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Palo Duro Baptist Church at Wildorado with the Rev. Steve Cox, pastor of Vega United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Bill Austin, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Palo Duro Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Green was born June 16, 1906, at Vernon. She married Alfred Green in 1924 at Vega. The couple spent most of their married life in Oldham County where they engaged in farming and at one time ran a small truck line, hauling milk from local dairies into Amarillo. Later they operated a service station in Wildorado. She was active in the United Methodist Church of Wildorado for many years, where she taught children's Sunday school classes. After the Wildorado Church disbanded, she was regular in attendance at Vega United Methodist Church. She was a member of Wildorado PTA during the years she had children in school, and was awarded an honorary life membership in Texas PTA. She worked with Oldham County Home Demonstration Club and was active in youth 4-H Club work. She was manager of Wildorado School Cafeteria for 33 years and was active in Wildorado Senior Citizens Club for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961; a son, Glen Green in 1999; a granddaughter; and a grandson. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Green of Jacksonville, Ark.; two sons, Alfred Green of Wildorado and Bill Green of Amarillo; a sister, Jennie Aldridge of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. McClendon married Jody Parsley on July 6, 1974. He was part owner and president of Parsley's Roofing Co. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Hatfield married Stephen Edward Hatfield on Sept. 7, 1976, at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband on May, 20, 2000. Tommy Ewing, retired Methodist minister, and the Rev. Landrum Medlock of the church officiating. Mr. Barnes was born Jan. 6, 1933, at Sentinel, Okla., and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1951. He served in the Air Force, stationed first in Korea and later Italy. He married Raylene Mason on June 18, 1955. He worked at Exell Helium Plant for 31 years, retiring in 1988 as plant manager. He was an active member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church where he faithfully attended the Friendship Sunday school class. He was preceded in death by his father, Sanford Barnes in 1988. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Brenda Allen and husband, Ronnie; Beverly Barnes, and Becky Barnes and husband, Jeff, all of Amarillo; his mother, Alene Barnes of Sentinel; two brothers, Ottis Barnes of Miami and Manlif Barnes of Birmingham, Ala.; five grandchildren, Eric Allen and wife, Jennifer; Stacie Allen, Randy Allen, Alexis Adams and Emily Adams; two great-grandchildren, Drake Allen and Kaleb Allen; and four nieces. Mrs. Harris married Ernest Harris in 1943 at Grace, Miss. They came to Clovis in 1971. Ms. Bebb was born Aug. 14, 1923, at Dalhart, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of the Thomas community in Union County. Mrs. Jones was born May 5, 1915, at Rector, Ark. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, John Paul Jones of Brookfield, Wis., and James R. Jones of Birmingham, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 14, 2001 Richard Earl "Dick" Runyon Jr. CORPUS CHRISTI - Richard Earl "Dick" Runyon Jr., 61, formerly of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Church of the Good Shepherd. Arrangements are by Maxwell-Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Runyon was born in Borger but spent most of his life in Amarillo. He loved life and lived it with gusto. He was a Marine who served his country well, completing three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was self-employed as a contractor with Coastal Striping until his illness forced him to retire. He was past president of the Coastal Bend Council on Drug and Alcohol Abuse and was active in many charitable and civic projects within the community. He leaves behind a legacy of stories, sayings and a spirit that was uniquely Dick's own. At his death, his home was filled with those whom he loved and who loved him. Survivors include his wife, Rosine; two daughters, Leigh Anne Schulte and husband Calvin, and Jennifer Runyon-Houk, all of Nazareth; a sister, Sue Becquet and husband Robert of Corpus Christi; a brother, Jimmy Runyon of Waimanalo, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Jade, Jori, Victoria and Seth; and several nieces and nephews, including Tommy Shindler, who was particularly close and helpful to Dick. The family suggests memorials be to Christus Spohn Hospice of Corpus Christi or a favorite charity.
