Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church at Higgins with the Rev. Monte Kries officiating. Arrangements are by Craddock Funeral Home of Ardmore. Mrs. Jenkins was born on Jan. 20, 1918, at Higgins. In 1938, she graduated from Park College with a degree in home economics. She taught for Arnet and Higgins public schools for many years. After retiring, she volunteered for the Shattuck Memorial Hospital and Meals on Wheels in Higgins. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Higgins. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She married Warren Charles Jenkins on May 26, 1940, at Higgins. He preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Baxter Carlisle Hurn and Edna Mae Hurn; a son, Michael Jenkins; and a son-in-law, Jerold Hanson. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Hanson of Ardmore and Margy Schoenhals and husband, Mark, of Spearman; a brother, Baxter Carlisle Hurn of Dewey, Ariz.; eight grandchildren: Shannon Smith and husband, Mark; Chris Jenkins; Casey Jenkins and wife, Nazema; Stephanie Hanson; Jon Janson and wife, Jennifer; Amy Weaver and husband, Zac; Doran Schoenhals; and Mickey Schoenhals; and three great-grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Smith and Addison Hanson. Amarillo Globe-News July 16, 2001 George Kammerer - George Kammerer, 84, died Saturday, July 14, 2001. Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Cattau, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Kammerer served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was assistant superintendent of the Federal Bureau of Mines in Amarillo for 26 years. Mrs. Totty was born on March 12, 1918, at Stephens County, Okla. She married Frank Totty on Feb. 10, 1973. Mrs. Hopkins had lived in Amarillo before returning to Quanah in 1983. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church. Amarillo Globe-News July 16, 2001 Amarillo Lora Stone Lora Leota "Dee" Whitehead Baker Stone, 90, of Clarendon and formerly of Amarillo, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in Claude. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Chapel of Memories at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Dr. Charles Jones, pastor of Second Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Stone was born on Dec. 3, 1910, on a farm in Erath County to Ada Leona and James Alexander "Jim" Whitehead. She married Vernon W. Baker Sr., in 1936. At the time of this marriage, her husband had three small sons, and Lora raised them as her own. In 1970, Lora and Vernon adopted Barbara Gail. Vernon was a paint contractor in Amarillo for several years and Lora was the bookkeeper for the business. Vernon died in 1978. She married Robert W. "Bob" Stone in 1984. Robert was retired from Union Carbide. They lived in Amarillo, Possum Kingdom Lake, near Graham, and Howardwick, near Clarendon. Bob died in 2000. Lora was a very talented person. She loved to sew. She and a dear friend owned Nina Dee Dressmaker Shop. Lora also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She also did upholstery, tailoring and flower arranging. She taught herself to paint after she turned 80. She was a member of the American Beauty Charm School. During World War II, Lora was a welder for the war effort. She loved games and was good at them. During the last few years of her life, Lora's best friend was Angel, her cat. Lora was preceded in death by a son, James Frank Baker, in 1969. His widow resides in Amarillo. She was also preceded in death by brothers Glen "Bud" Whitehead, John Whitehead and Bill Whitehead; and a sister, Maria "Coater" Stratton. Survivors include children, Vernon W. Baker Jr., Gerald D. Baker and wife, Carla, and Barbara Gail Wandall, all of Amarillo; two brothers, Jim W. "Dick" Whitehead of Amarillo and Joe Whitehead of Woodward, Okla.; two sisters, Pearl Celey of Tucson, Ariz., and Lucille "Lucy" Whitehead of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
