Bill Claterbaugh, 91, died Sunday, July 15, 2001. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Aubrey Howell, pastor of First Baptist Church in Burlington, Colo., and the Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. The Rev. Claterbaugh was a retired Baptist minister and a member of Central Baptist Church. He served as pastor of First Baptist Church in Hatch, N.M., and several other churches in New Mexico. He was director of missions in the Santa Fe and Pecos Valley associations for 16 years. Survivors include his wife, Lois, of Pampa. The family suggests memorials be to Central Baptist Church building fund, 513 E. Francis, Pampa, TX 79065; or a favorite charity. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dimmitt. Survivors include his wife, Kay Conyers; a son, Brian Conyers of Dimmitt; and a brother, Fred Conyers of Austin. Amarillo Globe-News, July 17, 2001 Frank Eugene Northcutt DUMAS - Frank Eugene Northcutt, 72, died Sunday, July 15, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Northcutt was born Feb. 12, 1929, in Clarksville. He married LaVerne Kimbell on June 7, 1989, in Sunray. He enjoyed his grandkids, football and raising horses. Mr. Northcutt was a Moore County resident for more than 60 years. He was a mechanic in the oil and gas industry. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Neda Faye Northcutt, in 1976. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Frank Northcutt of Longview and Billy Northcutt of Pittsburg; two daughters, DorisAnn Wright of Sheffield and Sandy McKay of Dumas; a sister, Mary Katherine Stafford of Horatio, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens / Memorial Park Cemetery in Victoria. Mrs. Myers was born in Canton, Okla., on April 6, 1925, to William and Lois Dotson Hunt. Mrs. Myers was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in San Marcos, where she devoted her time to teaching handicapped members of the church. Survivors include her devoted husband, LaVerne "Barney" Myers; two sons, Dennis Brooks and wife, Roni, of Port Lavaca and Vodie Brooks and wife, Linda, of Victoria; a daughter, Beverley Singleton and husband, Vernon, of Victoria; two sisters, Audrey Petty of San Marcos and Jean Long of Abilene; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, July 17, 2001 Billy Jerold Klebold - Billy Jerold "Sonny" Klebold, 62, formerly of Clovis, N.M., died Monday, July 2, 2001. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were by Valley Memorial Crematory of Las Vegas. Mr. Klebold graduated from Clovis High School in 1958 and attended Eastern New Mexico University. He was retired from the Las Vegas Fire Department. Survivors include his mother, Lena Klebold of Clovis; and a brother, Buddy Klebold of Clovis. He retired from the Pantex Plant as a technical operator. He served as an aviation ordnance man in the Naval Air Corps during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Iona Reed of Rhome; a daughter, Janet Derting and her husband, Steve, of Aurora; four grandsons, Brent Carter, Brad Carter, Stephen Derting and Josh Derting; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Amarillo Globe-News, July 17, 2001 Lora Stone Lora Leota "Dee" Whitehead Baker Stone, 90, of Clarendon and formerly of Amarillo, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in Claude. Services were at 10 a.m. Monday in Chapel of Memories at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Dr. Charles Jones, pastor of Second Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Stone was born Dec. 3, 1910, on a farm in Erath County to Ada Leona and James Alexander "Jim" Whitehead. She married Vernon W. Baker Sr., in 1936. At the time of this marriage, her husband had three small sons, and Lora raised them as her own. In 1970, Lora and Vernon adopted Barbara Gail. Vernon was a paint contractor in Amarillo for several years and Lora was the bookkeeper for the business. Vernon died in 1978. She married Robert W. "Bob" Stone in 1984. Robert was retired from Union Carbide. They lived in Amarillo, Possum Kingdom Lake, near Graham, and Howardwick, near Clarendon. Bob died in 2000. Lora was a very talented person. She loved to sew. She and a dear friend owned Nina Dee Dressmaker Shop. Lora also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She also did upholstery, tailoring and flower arranging. She taught herself to paint after she turned 80. She was a member of the American Beauty Charm School. During World War II, Lora was a welder for the war effort. She loved games and was good at them. During the last few years of her life, Lora's best friend was Angel, her cat. Lora was preceded in death by a son, James Frank Baker, in 1969. Martha Baker, his widow, resides in Amarillo. Lora also was preceded in death by three brothers, Glen "Bud" Whitehead, John Whitehead and Bill Whitehead; and a sister, Maria "Cooter" Stratton. Survivors include children, Vernon W. Baker Jr., Gerald D. Baker and wife, Carla, and Barbara Gail Wandall, all of Amarillo; two brothers, Jim W. "Dick" Whitehead of Amarillo and Joe Whitehead of Woodward, Okla.; three sisters, Pearl Celey of Tucson, Ariz., Rubye Howard of Republic, Mo., and Lucille "Lucy" Whitehead of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News July 17, 2001 Mabel Goldie Craddock Mabel Goldie Craddock, 97, of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Lake Jackson. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery of Amarillo by C.T. Baker & Sons Inc. of West Columbia. Mrs. Craddock was born Jan. 17, 1904, in Bokoshe, Okla., and was a longtime resident of the Panhandle. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family and hard work. She also loved to fish. She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church and a Christian woman who loved her Lord. Mrs. Craddock was preceded in death by her husband, H.B. "Ferpo" Craddock; her parents, Henry C. and Amanda Elizabeth Rodgers; a sister, Dollie Rodgers; and two brothers, Dick Rodgers and Jake Rodgers. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, E.H. & Eileen Craddock of West Columbia; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruby F. and Allen C. Survivors include two daughters, Deve McLemore and Korina Sirmon, both of Amarillo; her mother, Gloria Swepston of Amarillo; five brothers, Jerry Otto of Fritch, Thomas Otto of Claude, James Otto of Amarillo, Mark Otto of Washington state and Stanley Otto of San Diego; a sister, Linda Otto of Lovington, N.M.; and three grandchildren. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Fuentes was born in Lane, Kan. She had lived in Stratford, Texas and Dalhart, Texas before moving to Guymon. Survivors include her husband of more than 70 years, Fransisco "Frank" Fuentes; two sons, Albert Fuentes of Guntersville, Ala., and Benjamin L. Fuentes of Guymon; three daughters, Elisa Padilla of Guymon, Hortensia Garcia of Ulysses, Kan., and Charmaine Long of Optima, Okla.; two brothers, Mike Hernandez of El Paso, Texas and Guadalupe Hernandez of Amarillo; three sisters, Juanita Hernandez and Anastasia Gomez, both of Dalhart and Gloria Ponce of Moreno Valley, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Survivors include his wife, Helen; four daughters, Glenda McKinley, Sharon Remling and Janice Johnson, all of Amarillo and Gwen Hanson of Hooker; a sister, Lanora Webb of Liberal, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Mr. Dougherty married Waneice Tevis in 1941 at Portales. He had been a resident of Clovis since 1951. Amarillo Globe-News, July 17, 2001 Robert C. McGough CLOVIS, N.M. - Robert C. "Bob" McGough, 82, died Saturday, July 14, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with military honors rendered by Cannon Air Force Base. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. McGough served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in England, receiving the Bronze Service Star and World War II Victory medal. Known as the "speedometer repairman" until he retired in 1966, he had worked as an auto mechanic, later owned Bob's Service. Survivors include his wife, Alma; four sons, Robert A. McGough of Poteau, Okla., Phil W. McGough of Carthage, Texas, Steven R. McGough of Clovis and Kenneth C. McGough of Sunrise, Fla.; two daughters, Tanya Skaggs of Clayton and Valinda Young of Midland, Texas; a sister, Marie Saab of Muskogee, Okla; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
