Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in the First Baptist Church of Friona with the Rev. Joe Hub Collier of Cushing, Okla., and the Rev. Don Kimbrough of Friona officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. (CDT) in the Melrose Cemetery at Melrose, N.M. Mrs. Widner had been a Friona resident since 1963, moving from Sunnyside. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Friona and had served as Sunday school secretary for 30 years. She was active in the Meals On Wheels program and served as the first treasurer. She also had worked with the county commodity program assisting needy families. Survivors include her husband, Dale Widner of Friona; two daughters, Alicia Widner of Lubbock and Jaton Magness of Longview; two sisters, Juanita Richards of Clovis, N.M., and Esther Dodd of Melrose; one brother, Jerry Frazier of Roswell, N.M. Amarillo Globe-News, May 17, 2001 Maybian Rhodes DIMMITT - Maybian "Granny" Rhodes, 86, of Dimmitt and formerly of Friona, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in Friona. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt with the Rev. Howard Rhodes, pastor, and the Rev. Charles Broadhurst of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be at 5 p.m. in the Friona Cemetery at Friona. Arrangements are by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mrs. Rhodes was born on Jan. 16, 1915. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt and was active in the Women's Missionary Union. She kept the nursery at the First Baptist Church in Friona for more than 20 years. She moved to Friona from Oklahoma in 1951 and to Dimmitt in 1999. She married O.C. "Friday" Rhodes on Oct. 29, 1932, in Washita County, Okla. He died July 10, 1987. She also was preceded in death by two grandsons, Kyle Rhodes in 1990, and Darryl Heinrich in 1993; and a son-in-law, Paul Coker in 1997. Survivors include four sons, Gaylon Rhodes of Bovina, Wayne Rhodes of Friona, Cleatus Rhodes of Sayre, Okla., and Howard Rhodes of Dimmitt; four daughters, Margaret Coker of Amarillo, Darla Shelton of Suamico, Wis., and Betty Smith and Barbara Grimsley, both of Friona; three sisters, Ellen Kilday of Chowchilla, Calif., Flossie Bales of Amarillo and Coleta Stinson of Fay, Okla.; two brothers, Augustus "Tyke" Morgan of Cordell, Okla., and Sam Morgan of Whitesboro; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She married Raymond L. Baker on April 22, 1950, in Thomas, Okla. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Casey Baker of Porter and Stacy J. Gaddy, 82, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. James Episcopal Church, 801 Denver Ave., in Dalhart with the Rev. Jerry Sneary officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Gaddy was born in Shawnee, Okla., and moved to Dalhart in 1930, where he graduated from Dalhart High School in 1937. He married Pauline Kay in 1938 in Clayton, N.M. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a rifleman in Company F, 163rd Infantry, 41st Division in the South Pacific where he received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. He worked for Scott Motor Company for 49 years, for Wilson & Robertson International for a year and in the machine shop of Plains Supply for three years before retiring. Mr. Gaddy was a member of Masonic Lodge Rock Island, No. 869 A.F. & A.M. since 1955, where he served as Master twice and received the Golden Trowel Award in 2000. He was a lifetime member of Order of Eastern Star, Dalhart Chapter No. 1051, where he served as Worthy Patron numerous times. He was a former member of Dalhart I.O.O.F. No. 188, Scottish Rite and Shriners. He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline in 1991 and by two infant grandsons. Survivors include two sons, Raymond F. Gaddy and wife Patsy of Albuquerque and Marvin Gaddy and wife Ginger of Canyon; a daughter, Paulette Wingate and husband Jim of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coon Memorial Nursing Home, 210 Texas Blvd., Dalhart TX 79022 or to a favorite charity. Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, in Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel at Duncan, Okla., with the Rev. Winston Curtis officiating. Burial was in Duncan Cemetery. Mrs. Allen was born in Duncan on March 5, 1917, the daughter of Dan and Emma (Fields) Sellers. She married Tom Allen on Nov. 27, 1937, in Duncan. He preceded her in death in 1992. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Viola Sellers; and a daughter, Sandy Booth, in 1985. Survivors include a son, Jerry Allen and his wife, Diann, of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Pall bearers were her grandsons. Georgia St. Mrs. Yunker married John C. Yunker in 1932 at Anderson, Ind. They moved to Amarillo in 1951 from Gary, Ind. She was a homemaker and co-owner of M&Y Variety Stores with her husband. She had been a member of Polk Street United Methodist for 47 years. Her husband passed away on March 1, 2000. Survivors include a son, John Yunker III of Corpus Christi; a daughter, Stephanie Kordas of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Allison, 99, of Amarillo, died Monday, May 14, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at N.S. Griggs & Sons Pioneer Chapel with John McMath of Bell Avenue Church of Christ officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors. Mr. Allison was born Aug. 10, 1901, in Stephenville. He married Lucille Gumm in June 1929. He married Daisy Tappenfield in October 1962. She preceded him in death on May 8, 1999. He was employed for 41 years with Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a plant superintendent at Sherman-Hansford Natural Gasoline & Helium Plant, located north of Gruver. After his retirement in 1966, he moved to Amarillo. He was a member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ and the Ross Rogers Golf Club and was a 50-year member of Young Country Masonic Lodge #485. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Roksandich of Amarillo; two sisters, Louise Parks of Stephenville and Lura Fagan of College Station; a brother, Albert Allison of Montclair, Calif.; a granddaughter, Joan Arnold-Roksandich of Allen; and a great-granddaughter, Allison Arnold-Roksandich of Allen. She was married to Albert Moore, a Santa Fe Railroad engineer, who is now deceased. Mr. Warren was born Oct. 4, 1928, in Post, to Belva C. Hudman and Henry H. Warren. He was employed at the Veterans Hospital in Amarillo for 15 years and retired from West Texas State University in Canyon after 22 years of service. He married Leeora Sutton on April 7, 1951, in Carlsbad, N.M. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a sister and a son, Douglas. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Byrd worked as a nursing assistant for SunBridge High Plains Care & Rehabilitation for 14 years. Prior to that she had worked at the Holiday Inn. Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Calvin Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Lawrence officiating. Burial was at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Lamesa Memorial Gardens at Lamesa, Texas, with the Rev. Huey Harris officiating. Arrangements were by Williamson Funeral Home of Wetumka, Okla. Mr. Nickelson was born on May 29, 1926, in Canyon, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Saginaw, Texas, and Big Lake, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Willadean, of the home; a son, Wade Ray Nickelson of Wyoming; a daughter, Dale Lane Russell of Big Spring, Texas; a brother, Paul Nickelson of Amarillo; a sister, Ruth of California; several step-children; and three grandchildren.
