Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery at Tipton, Mo. Arrangements are by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home of Hereford. Mrs. Kerschen and her husband moved to Hereford from Colorado Springs, Colo., in July 1995. Survivors include her husband, Ray Kerschen; two daughters, Janet Phillips of Granada Hills, Calif., and Janice Buchheim of Medina, Ohio; two sons, John Kerschen of Colorado Springs, Colo., and James Kerschen of Wilmington, Del.; three sisters, Beverly Jesko of Hereford, Wilma Hoff of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Doris Rahm of Sun City, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Nieves moved from Del Rio to Deaf Smith County in 1975. He was a sheep shearer and farm laborer. Fred Hughes, pastor of Trinity Fellowship in Dumas, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hunter was born Jan. 29, 1940, in Clovis, N.M. She married Howard Hunter on Sept. 14, 1956, in Hereford. She was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church in Dumas. She was a Moore County resident for 32 years. Survivors include her husband; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Carla Hunter of Guymon, Okla., and David and Jamie Hunter of Bertram; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gina Sladek of Dumas, Kristi and James McNair of Lago Vista and Lauri and Bill Rousseau of Tulia; a brother and sister-in-law, Dwaine and Naomi Walker of Hereford; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, July 18, 2001 Margarette Knox Margarette Cox Knox, 62, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 16, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel at Pampa with the Rev. Marvin Knox, a Baptist minister from Stratford, Okla., officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Amarillo. Mrs. Knox was born July 29, 1938, in Pampa. She had been a resident of the Pampa and Lefors area most of her life. She attended Lefors High School and graduated from Highland General Hospital School of Vocational Nursing in 1973. She married Kenneth Cox on Dec. 17, 1954, in Clayton, N.M. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1991. She later married Norman L. Knox on March 25, 1995, in Pampa. He preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 2001. She was past president of the Texas Housekeepers Association for several years. After retiring from the Methodist Hospital in Houston, she and Mr. Knox relocated to Amarillo in 1999. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church in Amarillo. Survivors include a daughter, Gaytha Cox Reid of Amarillo; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Judy Cox of Pampa; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Kerrie and Steve Dobbs of Houston, Jeannie and Leslie Hunt of Midland and Leslie and Dustin Donley of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, July 18, 2001 Rachel Stewart Rachel Loving Stewart, 88, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Central Church of Christ Chapel with the Rev. Paul Sneed officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Stewart was the wife of the late O.T. Stewart. She attended Abilene Christian College, where during her freshman year she was the Prickly Pear Queen. Mrs. Stewart spent more than 50 years as a florist. She owned and operated Stewart's Flowers in the 1940s and '50s. She later worked and retired from Freeman's Flowers and Sharon's Flowers in Amarillo. Mrs. Stewart was a lifetime member of Central Church of Christ. She also was a member of the Sunshiners Club. She was active in several charitable causes, including the Prison Ministry and English as a Second Language. Survivors include four sons, Ted and Dot Stewart of Lubbock, Bob and Patsy Stewart of Dallas, Don and Lynda Stewart of Baton Rouge, La., and Douglas and Alix Stewart of Minneapolis; a sister, Elaine Cleland and her husband, Bruce, of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and extended family of additional grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, July 18, 2001 Myrtle Greer Myrtle Greer, 85, of Amarillo and formerly of Muleshoe, died Saturday, July 14, 2001, in Bedford. Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Amarillo Primitive Baptist Church with R.A. Tindell, elder, officiant. Burial was in Llano Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Greer returned home after a courageous battle with heart disease. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and her husband, N.H. Greer, were previous owners of Greer's Drive Inn on Northeast Eighth. Myrtle was formerly of Muleshoe. She was born Feb. 26, 1916, in Olustee, Okla. Her father F.M. Griffin was a minister of the Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; and a son, Gary Lynn Cox. Survivors include a son, Gwineth "G.A." Cox and daughter-in-law Linda Cox of Bedford; a granddaughter and husband, Kim and Mark Liebelt of Canon City, Colo.; a grandson, Shane Cox of Bedford; three great-grandsons, Frank Christopher Prince III, Joshua Gust Liebelt and Dakota Shane Artie Cox; a great-granddaughter, Amber Nicole Liebelt; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wallace moved from Amarillo to Levelland in 1981. He was in the banking business in Amarillo and worked for Levelland State Bank from 1981 to 1990. Survivors include his wife, Gayla Wallace; a son, Bill Wallace of Lubbock; a daughter, Jeanie Brown of Levelland; a sister, Jo Ann Bray of Hollister, Calif.; his stepfather, Franklin Kittenger of Hollister; and three grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was born July 27, 1951, in Borger, Texas, to Walter and Lenora Marie (Reinking) Johnson. He graduated from Borger High School and received an associate's degree in radio production from Amarillo College and a bachelor's degree in mass communications and journalism from West Texas State University at Canyon, Texas. Survivors include his daughter, Lyndsie Marie Johnson of Ponca City; his mother, Lenora (Reinking) Veloz of Ponca City; his father and stepmother, Walter and Vernece Johnson of Dumas, Texas; a brother, Walter Stephen Johnson of Dallas; two stepsisters; and a stepbrother. Shaffer GUYMON, Okla. - Richard O. "Rick" Shaffer, 59, died Monday, July 16, 2001. Services will be 2 p.m. today in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Chaffin, pastor, and the Rev. Jim Jamieson officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mr. Shaffer, the son of Luetta (Northcutt) and Frank Shaffer, was born March 3, 1942, in Tulia, Texas. In 1945, the family moved to Perryton, Texas, where Rick attended school and graduated from Perryton High School. In 1964, he graduated from Texas Tech University, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Mr. Shaffer moved to Guymon in 1965 and established Richard O. Shaffer Accounting Firm. He was united in marriage with Fran Cook on Aug. 29, 1969, in Perryton. Mr. Shaffer was always active in the community and was extremely supportive of anything youth related. He was a member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a Kids, Inc. coach and supporter, and was active in the Guymon Swim Team and Booster Club. He was a member of the Guymon school board and was president elect of the Oklahoma State School Board Association. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shelli Raines of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Jana Shaffer of Arlington, Texas; two sons, Joel Shaffer of Oklahoma City and Michael Shaffer of Dallas; a brother, Keith Shaffer of Guymon; and a granddaughter, Katelyn Shaffer of Oklahoma City. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers be to Kids, Inc.; or the Guymon Schools education foundation. Memorials will be accepted by the funeral home.
