Overstreet Bill D. Overstreet, 69, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 16, 2001. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Batson, senior pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites rendered by Amarillo Lodge No. 731. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Overstreet was born in Amarillo and had been a lifetime resident. He was the retired sales manager for Time Chemical Corp. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Amarillo Lodge No. 731 and the Khiva Temple. He also was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a colonel in the Confederate Air Force. He married Frances Breitkreutz on Aug. 16, 1952, at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Michelle Lawrence and Cella Pownell, both of Amarillo; two sons, Gare Overstreet of Englewood, Colo., and Galen Overstreet of League City; and seven grandchildren. Lowe officiating. Mr. Armstrong was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a businessman in Stratford and Guymon, Okla., before retiring to Amarillo. He worked for Gulf Oil Co. for three years and later owned Baker-Askew Tire Co. from 1946 to 1983. He married Dorothy Nugent on June 8, 1934, in Amarillo. Mr. Askew was a former director for The Bank of the Southwest. He also had a ranch interest in Fannin County. Mr. Askew was a member of First Baptist Church and the Art Tibodeaux Sunday school class. He was a member of the Amarillo County Club. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Glenn W. Askew Jr. and wife, Mary, of Wichita Falls, Mark Askew and wife, Sylvia, of Askew ranch in Telephone and Richard Askew of East Windsor, N.J.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, April 19, 2001 Oklahoma Ada Pearl Jamieson GUYMON, Okla. - Ada Pearl Jamieson, 94, died Monday, April 16, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Panhandle Bible Center with her son, Jim Jamieson, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Miss Prentice married Johnny T. Jamieson on Feb. 14, 1926, in Childress, Texas. They lived in Lamb County, Texas, from 1927 to 1981, when they moved to Guymon. Survivors include two sons, Dub Jamieson and Jim Jamieson, both of Guymon; three daughters, Betty Pearl Sinning and Charlotte Pauline Jamieson, both of Guymon, and Norma Louise Womack of Amarillo; a brother, Monroe Prentice of Childress; 26 grandchildren; 31 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield. Mr. Trimmer was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Temple. He married Elnora DuRoss on Aug. 10, 1941, in Haskell County. Survivors include his wife; a son, Eddie Trimmer of Willow, Alaska; a daughter, Sylvia Goldston of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Mr. Couch, among other occupations, had worked drilling water wells, as a cowboy on a cattle ranch, and as a horse trainer. He had lived in Plainview, Lubbock, Aspermont, Turkey, Canadian and Round Rock. Survivors include two sons, Wayne Couch of Florence and Berl Couch of Salado; a daughter, Wanda Shannon of Georgetown; a brother, James Couch of Plainview; a sister, Lelia McFarland of Plainview; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, April 19, 2001 Frances Abernathy LUBBOCK - Frances Abernathy, 72, died Monday, April 16, 2001. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Leonard with the Rev. Sam Campbell officiating. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Leonard. Miss Abernathy was born April 12, 1929, to Thomas Leslie and Winnie Davis Abernathy. Frances graduated from Leonard High School, Texas Woman's University, and received her master's degree in library science from Texas A&M University in Commerce. She did postgraduate work at North Texas State University. Miss Abernathy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Leonard and was a youth leader while attending school in Commerce. She worked with the Camp Fire Girls organization at Corpus Christi. She taught school in Honey Grove, Sinton, Pampa, Amarillo and Plainview. She also worked at Region XVI Education Service Center in Amarillo and retired from the library at West Texas A&M University in Canyon. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, T.L. Abernathy Jr.; a nephew, Mark E. Chitwood; and by a brother-in-law, Rex E. Chitwood. Survivors include a sister, Kathryn A. Chitwood of Canyon; a nephew, Leslie Lee Abernathy of Amarillo; a niece, Kay C. Johnson of Lubbock; four great-nephews, Colton Thomas Abernathy of Amarillo, Kody Wayne Johnson of Canyon and Kristopher Mark Johnson and Kalder Ray Johnson, both of Lubbock; a greatniece, Whitni Leigh Abernathy of Amarillo; and a cousin, John A. During her early years she lived in McAdoo, moving to Hale Center in 1945 and to Plainview in 1967. Mrs. Sanders was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spearman, where she was pianist and organist for 40 years. She had many hobbies including gardening, sewing, golf and bowling. She won many trophies for golf, bowling and her quilts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Elizabeth McClellan; a daughter, Julie Adams, in 1997; and a son, Michael Rue Sanders, in 1988. Survivors include her husband, Rue Sanders of Spearman; three sisters, Dr. Mary Burnett of Littleton, Colo., Marguerite Millican of New Braunfels and Dorothy Mann of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Elmo McClellan Jr., of Gruver; and two granddaughters, Brooke Wilkes of Amarillo and Amanda Adams of Spearman. Mr. Kirkland was born July 8, 1928, in Shamrock. He was a farmer and rancher. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of McLean. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, in June 1989; by a daughter, Pam Phillips, in April 1991; and by a sonin-law, Carl Henley, in August 1984. Survivors include four daughters, Lana Stump of McLean, Gwen Henley of Lubbock, Sandra Bush of Amarillo and Linda Weeks of Lawton, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
