She was a member of the Church of Christ since an early age. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Central Church of Christ with Kim Hays, lay minister of Garland St. Church of Christ in Plainview, and Trey Morgan, minister of Central Church of Christ in Tulia, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Sturgess grew up in Tipton, Okla., and graduated from Lang No. 1. He moved to Grandfield, Okla., in 1938 where he worked as a farmer. He married Idella Huff on Jan. 31, 1938, in Tipton. He and his wife moved to Petersburg in 1940. He was a lay minister in the Church of Christ in his area for several years. He was a farmer and a rancher in Swisher County in 1945 and moved to Tulia in 1949. He was a member of Central Church of Christ and had been an elder for several years in the church. Survivors include his wife, Idella; three daughters, Elaine Wakefield of Willow Park, Lanette Roach and Roxanne Adams, both of Tulia; two sons, Jerry Sturgess of Palestine and Larry Sturgess of Tulia; a brother, James Sturgess of Tulia; two sisters, Ruby Gover of Tyler and Nell Rose Fulbright of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Mr. Driver was born May 8, 1959, in Fort Stockton, to Jewel Birdwell Driver and H.J. Driver. He was the janitor of the First Baptist Church in Quanah where he was also a member. Tom Moore and the Rev. Weldon Rives officiating. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Blackwell was born in Groom and graduated from Groom High School in 1936. He was owner of Blackwell Supply and John Deere Dealership in Groom for 47 years. He married Lucy Britton in 1948 in Groom. He married Irma Homen in 1984 in Groom. He attended United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion, was on the Board of Directors of State National Bank of Groom. He also was a board member of Groom Cemetery Association. He was in the Air Force during World War II. He was inducted into the Route 66 Hall of Fame. A brick was placed in the VA Health Care System Patio of Honor to honor Mr. Blackwell. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucy in 1981; his second wife, Irma in 1999; his parents, Oliver Page Blackwell and Ethel Blackwell; a sister, Ina Faye Blackwell; and a brother, Guy Blackwell. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Saturday in Northlawn Memorial Gardens of Dumas with military honors rendered by American Legion Post No. 224. He was a resident of Amarillo for 25 years before moving to El Paso. He lived there 27 years and returned to Amarillo 21/2 years ago. He was an industrial engineer with Southwest Portland Cement. He graduated from Dumas High School, New Mexico Military Academy and Texas Tech University. Mr. Weidling was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Germany. He served as lay minister for the Methodist church. He was active in the El Paso Upper Valley Lions Club and Kids, Inc. He also was a supporter of Boys Ranch. He served in the Army during World War II and retired from the Natural Gas Pipeline of America. He moved from Tucumcari, N.M., to Amarillo where he had lived for the past five years. He married Delores Hilda Strube on April 15, 1946, in Wellingham, Wash. Mr. Norris was a Merchant Marine during World War II. He was a member of South Georgia Baptist Church. He was a self-employed farmer and custom harvester in Tucumcari from 1964 to 1996. He was preceded in death by a brother; and a great-grandchild.
