He moved from Plainview to Gilcrest, Colo., in 2000. He was a Catholic. He married Carmen Quinoneszin 1957 at Post. Survivors include his wife; a son, Joe Samora of Platteville, Colo.; a daughter, JoAnn Castro of Gilcrest; his parents, Martin and Benita Samora of San Macros; two brothers, Domingo Samora and Martin Samora ; seven sisters, Cecilia, Josie, Christina, Ruth, Sally, Mary, and Julia; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She married Raymond Maddox in 1933. He preceded her in death. She married Presley Lee Miller in 1942. They owned and operated Shady Grove Trailer Park and constructed homes for rent and sale. They also raised cattle in the Sadler area and she owned a cafe and worked at Dulaney's Firestone Store during World War II. He died in 1980. She married David Bennett in 1989. He died in 1997. She had owned and operated a creamery and recapping store. She was retired and a member of the Church of Christ. She lived in Kelton and Stinnett before moving to Canyon in 1975. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She worked for the Mother's Day Out program at the church and was a member of the Crusaders Sub!day school class. She married H.D. "Teed" Pond in 1946 at Shamrock. He died in 1996. She also was preceded in death by a son, Gary Keith, in 1953. She had lived in Spearman for 26 years, moving there from Amarillo. She had formerly worked as a secretary for Brown Pontiac-GMC in Amarillo and retired in 1974. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She married Merrel Johnson in 1975 at Spearman. He died in 1987. Survivors include three brothers, Ray Phelps of Spearman, Clifford Phelps of Yukon, Okla., and Jack Phelps of Weatherford, Okla.; and a sister, Louise Smith of Sugarland. Mrs. Shannon was born in Duke, Okla., and had been a resident of Clarendon since 1930. She retired as a supervisor from GTE Telephone Co. She was a longtime member of the Clarendon Order of The Eastern Star Chapter No. 6 and a member of the First Baptist Church. She married Floyd Shannon in 1958 at Carlsbad, N.M. He died in 1987. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elkhart Cemetery by Harrell Funeral Home. Mrs. Quigley was born in Elkhart. She married Merle Quigley in 1940 at Elkhart. They operated a farm and ranch southwest of Elkhart until 1984. After selling their farm, they purchased and operated a ranch near Ainsworth, Neb. She returned to Elkhart in 1997 and moved to El Reno a year later. Mrs. Quigley was preceded in death by a son, Pete. Mr. Hatley was a native of Clovis and graduated from Clovis High School in 1939. He served in the Army Air Corps in North Africa during World War II. Mrs. Pruitt was born in Boise City and was a lifetime resident of Cimarron County, Okla. She graduated from Boise City High School. She was a homemaker and a gardener. She was a member of the Boise City Church of Christ. She married Hurschel D. Pruitt in 1937 at Guymon. He preceded her in death. Survivors include three children, Eldean R. Pruitt of Boise City, Claudene Cooper of Texhoma and Pauldean E. Pruitt of Holly, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six step-greatgrandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 19, 2001 Ruth Turner TYRONE, Okla. - Ruth Turner, 68, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Freewill Baptist Church at Ulysses, Kan., with Seth Howard officiating. Burial will be in Grant County Cemetery at Ulysses. Arrangements are by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mrs. Turner was born in Ashland, Kan., and grew up in Dodge City, Kan. She married Cleon D. Reist Jr. in 1949 at Dodge City. They moved to Ulysses in 1954 and to Washington state in 1960. He died in 1965. Returning to Ulysses, she worked at Blalock's Cafe and also drove a cattle truck. She later moved to Wichita, Kan., where she was a cook at the Lake Afton Boys Ranch and the Wichita Children's Home. In 1976, she moved back to Ulysses and worked in the landscaping business. She married Kenneth Turner in 1984 of Tyrone. She was the dietary department head at the Liberal Good Samaritan Center and later they opened a ceramics shop in Adams. Mr. Turner died in 2000. Survivors include a son, John Reist of Deerfield, Kan.; two daughters, Karen Shoemaker of Joplin Mo., and Sharon Howard of Manhattan, Kan.; three stepdaughters, Evelyn Keever of Bartlesville, Janett Bright of Tyrone and Loretta Caldwell of Springfield, Mo.; a stepson, Kenneth Turner of Tyrone; a sister, Donna Leonard of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and 11 step greatgrandchildren. Mr. Addison was born in Jayton. He graduated from Quitaque High School in 1934 and from West Texas State College. He served in the Army, earning fighter pilot's wings and commission at Mitchell Field, N.Y. He served with the Army Air Corps until 1946. He received is doctorate in jurisprudence from the University of Texas Law School in 1944 and became associated with the Crenshaw, Dupree and Milam firm, practicing as a partner. He was a member of the local, state and American Bar Associations, the Texas Association Defense Council and Defense Research Institute. He was a member of the Friendship class of First Methodist Church. Mr. Addison married Kathleen Hodge in 1941 at Tallahassee, Fla. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kathleen Mary Elmore of Lubbock; a son, Max Murray Addison of Houston; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a retired chemist and a Mason. He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and the National Rifle Association. He married Wanda Gann in 1953 at Lovington, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, JoCheryl Miller of Graham and Suzanne Scroggins of Seattle; his mother, Coleta Scroggins of Graham; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. David Wilson and the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Arrangements are by Rix Funeral Directors. Mr. Morrow was born in Lelia Lake. He graduated from Clarendon High School in 1940 and from Clarendon Junior College in 1942. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a desk manager for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Amarillo, when he became the installation manager in Odessa. In 1972 he moved to Lubbock where he retired from the phone company as a supervisor in 1986. Mr. Morrow was past president of the Telephone Pioneers, the Lions Club and the Southcrest Baptist Church Deacons. He was a member of the Southcrest Baptist Church. He married Imogene Wisdom in 1943 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Bonnette of Lubbock; a son, Mike Morrow of Odessa; two brothers, Roy L. Morrow of Dallas and Ralph C. Morrow of Denver; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers be to Southcrest Baptist Church, building fund; or Youth Group, 3801 South Loop 289, Lubbock, TX 79423.
