Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Hayes was born in Lockney. After graduating from Lockney High School in 1971, he attended West Texas State University and worked for Acco Seed in Aiken and Leoti, Kan. In Plainview, he worked for Pioneer Hi Bred Seed Co., was a member of the Elks Lodge and attended First Baptist Church. He married Marilyn Jones in 1974 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Chad Hayes and Colby Hayes, both of Plainview; his mother, Mamie Hayes of Lockney; five brothers, Alvin Hayes, Cleatis Hayes and Roland Hayes, all of Lockney, and Ronnie Hayes and Joe Hayes, both of Farmersville; and four sisters, Shirley Hayes and Lesca Dee Durham, both of Lockney, June Hayes of Plainview and Rita Brown of Lorenzo. Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Street Baptist Church in Dalhart under the direction of Hass Funeral Home in Dalhart. The Rev. Rusty Hancock, minister of Lincoln Street Baptist Church, will officiate. Mr. Bush was born in Dalhart. He graduated from Dalhart High School in 1970. He worked for Dalhart Coca-Cola Company for many years. He lived in Lubbock several years and was living there at the time of his death. Survivors include two daughters, Sharesa McCartt of Amarillo and Melissa Bush of Lubbock; his parents, Richard and Jean Bush of Dalhart; a brother, Danny Bush of Dalhart; and two sisters, Lorraine Frazier and Deena Parker of Dalhart. Barry Loving, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Sailor was born in Pampa, where he was a lifelong resident. He was former owner and operator of C&S Cable Advertising and he farmed and ranched all his life. He was a member of First Christian Church and the Top O' Texas Masonic Lodge #1381 AF&Am. He was district director of the Gray SWCD from 1965 to 1978. He was a member of the Texas Agriculture Committee and was chairman of membership of the Canadian Production Credit Association. He received a certificate of recognition from the Texas Agriculture Extension Service in 1986. He helped establish the Sunshine Ministry at First Christian Church and delivered meals every Thursday. He married Clara Mae Evans in 1971 in Pampa. He was preceded in death by a son, James Robert Sailor, in 1994. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marilyn Sailor of Annandale, Va., Brenda Strahan of Oklahoma City and Katherine Taylor of Pampa; one son, Don Kite of Amarillo; a brother, Artie Sailor of Pampa; and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Sumner was born in Hemphill County. She graduated from Canadian High School in 1937. She was a homemaker and an active member of First Baptist Church. She married Randolph Sumner in 1941 in Canadian. He died in 1998. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Kay, in 1947. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with Max Browning, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Ballard was born in Newlin. He was a charter member of the Hale County Soil Conservation District. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he was active in Sunday School and served on the board of stewards and the board of trustees. He was a trustee on the school board in Newlin. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree Mason. He was Democratic committee chairman for Childress County and served on the ASCS Committee in Childress and Hale counties. During the Depression, he was one of three directors appointed to serve in the Civilian Conservation Corps for the Rolling Plains area. In his desire to service his farming and ranching interests he served on various boards, including the Halfway Coop Gin Board of Directors. He married Laura McCulloch in 1922. She died in 1987. The family moved to Plainview in 1938 and farmed and ranched for 60 years. Survivors include a son, L.D. Ballard of Plainview; a daughter, Jenny Lou Duncan of Plainview; and 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church in Plainview. Burial will be at Floyd County Memorial Park under the direction of Moore-Rose White Funeral Home of Floydada. Mr. Tye was born in White Deer. He moved to Floydada from White Deer in 1934. He graduated from Floydada High School and attended the University of Texas. He was a well driller with the family business, Tye & Sons Drilling Co., more than 30 years. He was a Methodist, and his McCleskey ancestors helped found Floydada Methodist Church. He married Valrie A. Burke in 1950 in Floydada. She died in 1971. Survivors include a son, Kerry Tye of Amarillo; two daughters, Teresa Ann Bearden of McKinney and Dana Leigh Carver of Alvarado; two sisters, Betty Lou Simpson of Floydada and Carolyn Marble of South Plains; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford. Mr. Thompson was born in Cottonwood. He was a member of Avenue Baptist Church. He was a farmer. He worked for John Deere in Hereford, Vega school district and the Potash Mines in Carlsbad, N.M. He managed a gas station in Vega. He was named the oldest man by the Mid-Plains Pioneer Association in 1996 and had the largest family at the Thompson reunion in 1986 and 1990. He married Allie Anne Mobley in 1923. She died in 1992. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Rhea Thompson. Survivors include two sons, James Rowe of Pecatonica, Ill., and Leroy Thompson of Aledo; two daughters, Wilma Bryan of Hereford and Lanora Nell Henry of Topock, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 14 greatgreat grandchildren. He moved to Amarillo in 1968 from Cuero. He worked for Southwest Precast as a cement finisher, retiring in 1992 and was a member of New Life International Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors by Disabled Veterans Chapter 26. Mr. Brower was born in Fort Scott, Kan. He served in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He had worked for Santa Fe Railway and moved to Amarillo in 1960. He married Dorthy Mae in 1947 at Pampa. She died in 1994. Survivors include one daughter, Anna Mae Davis of Oklahoma City; a son, Dennis Lee Brower of Amarillo; and four grandchildren. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Rankin, her nephew, officiating. Interment was in Elmhurst Cemetery at Guymon. Mrs. Boston was born in Calumet. She was a pioneer and longtime resident of the Goodwell area. She attended White Hall school and graduated from high school at Panhandle Agriculture Institute. She attended an additional four years there and earned a two year state certificate. She taught school for 12 years in Arlington, Texas. She returned to Goodwell in 1962 and moved to Guymon in 1998. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and attended First Baptist Church in Goodwell. She married Clyde Alex Boston in 1925 at Stratford, Texas. He died in 1998. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. The family suggest memorials be to Dunaway Manor Aviary Fund. Memorials will be accepted at the funeral home.
