Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Monte Kreis, pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements were by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Turner is a former longtime Wellington resident and was born Feb. 26, 1941, to John and Gollihugh and Marie Harris Gollihugh in Wellington. She grew up and attended school in the Salt Fork Community of Collingsworth County. She married Delmar "Doc" Turner on March 25, 1959, in Wellington. For 20 years, Mrs. Turner owned and operated Doc's Place until moving to Houston in 1983. In Houston, she operated Turner Security, a private security firm, until 1998. She was a former member of the B&PW Club, and she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Delmar "Doc" Turner, and by one sister. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Zapata of Kerrville and Patti Wolf of Hollis, Okla.; one son, Delmar Turner Jr., of Lubbock; one brother, Clyde Gollihugh of Columbus, Ga.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society or Wellington Cemetery Association. Amarillo Globe-News May 20, 2001 Vina Ruth Vi Buchholz BORGER - Vina Ruth "VanKirk" Vi Buchholz, 64, died Thursday, May 17, 2001. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Highland Park Cemetery with Fred Tracy of Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Devotion at Highland Park Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Buchholz married W.E. Buchholz on June 30, 1957, in Borger. She was active in Boy Scouts and earned several awards. Survivors include her husband, W.E. "Harpo" Buchholz of Borger; three sons, Travis Buchholz of Borger, Roger Buchholz of Amarillo and James Buchholz of Tulsa, Okla.; a stepson, Robert Buchholz of North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Lola Zunker of San Antonio; two sisters, Velma Moon of Fritch and June Sanders of Amarillo. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Directors. Mr. Birdwell graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1941. He was employed by Killingsworth Construction for 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Judy Birdwell of Dimmitt; a daughter, Judy Carole Gill of Plainview; two sons, Larry Norvelle Birdwell of Lorenzo and Jerry Bill Birdwell of Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Christian Church with Barry Walker, minister of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mrs. Garrison married Willis G. Garrison in 1952. In 1984, she retired after 34 years of teaching. Survivors include two sons, Glenn Garrison of San Angelo and Allan Garrison of Plano; and six grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Church of Christ with Mr. Jim York, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Crenshaw was born August 12, 1926, in Gladstone, N.M. He married Betty Eubank on Nov. 10, 1949, at Sunray. He was a farmer and had lived in Sherman County since 1944. He served with the Army during World War II. He was a longtime member and elder of the Church of Christ in Sunray. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Crenshaw, on Dec. 10, 1972. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jack Crenshaw of Kerrville and Kevin Crenshaw of Tacoma, Wash.; seven daughters, Teresia Beard of Paradise, Thelma Brazell of Fort Stockton, Larresia Crenshaw of Austin, Judith Brazell of Dumas, Merida Robertson of Flower Mound, Angaleta Crenshaw and Tonya Canales, both of Sunray; and 20 grandchildren. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Harold Turner officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mrs. Guinn was born in Oklahoma. She had been a resident of Amarillo for more than 60 years. A homemaker, she worked as a presser for Rite-Way Laundry for many years and had worked for the Big Texan Steak Ranch. She married Marvin Guinn in 1955. He died in 1996. Survivors include a son, Ralph Cole of Amarillo; a daughter, Betty Hallmark of Brighton, Tenn.; a brother, Buster Choat of Quanah; three sisters, Jewel Trolinder, Vivian Jones and Mabel Konkler, all of Quanah; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She became a licensed vocational nurse while working at Parkland Hospital and continued to work as a nurse until retiring from Northwest Texas Hospital in 1993. Survivors include two sons, Sigmund Daniels of Dallas and Marvin Daniels II of Amarillo; a sister, Johnnie B. Mathis of Fort Madison, Iowa; two daughters-in-law, Yronica Daniels of Dallas and Treiva Daniels of Amarillo; a brother-in-law, Melvin Mathis of Fort Madison; a grandchild, Braeden Daniels of Dallas; special niece, Tonya B. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Essary was born in Shamrock. He had lived in Amarillo for 56 years. He owned B&E Rubber Lining. He was a Methodist and member of the Boilermaker Local No. 531. He married Leslie Ann Birchfield on June 3, 1956, at Santa Rosa, N.M. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Essray and Rose White; and a brother, Ben Essary. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Teri Lyn Rice of Amarillo; three sons, Randy Essary, Joey Essary and Gerald Essary, all of Amarillo; three brothers, B.F. Essary, Marvin Essary and J.C. Essary, all of Amarillo; two sisters, Margie Carpenter of Amarillo and Lucille Dudley of Cortez, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will be at 8724 River Road. He married Thelma Switzer at Clovis, N.M., in 1949. He served in the Third Army, 13th Armored Division, under General Patton in the European Theatre. He retired as an electrician for the General Services Administration in the old Federal Building. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sharon Walker and Sandra O'Connor, both of Amarillo; a son, Tom Blackwell of Amarillo; one sister, Mary Atkins of Las Vegas; a brother, Walter Blackwell of El Paso; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
