Graveside services will follow at 5 p.m. today in Plainview Cemetery in Plainview. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Hill was born on Nov. 19, 1906, in Seymour to John Elijah and Mattie Lee Sneed Hill. He was a farmer and truck driver before his move to California in the 1930s. During World War II, he worked as a welder in the U.S. Naval Ship Yard Repair Facility doing his part in the war effort. He settled in Richmond, Calif., working for American Standard. He retired in 1969. Mr. Hill was an avid square dancer and attended the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVella Olson Hill. Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Bonds of Canyon, and Cara McGaugh and husband Melvin of Ralls; two brothers, Homer Hill and wife Dorotha of Georgetown, and Ira Hill and wife Ann of Plainview; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice, 1001 Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 20, 2001 Amarillo Lela Holmes Lela Holmes, 77, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park in the Garden of Peace with Chester Beavers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Holmes was born May 27, 1924, in Oklahoma. Survivors include three sons, Larry Jenkins, James Holmes and Kenneth Holmes all of Amarillo; a daughter, Paula Wainright of Amarillo; two sisters, MaryNell McEwan of Dumas and Marie Price of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to BSA Hospice. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 20, 2001 Kansas William E. Sleeper ELKHART, Kan. - William E. Sleeper, 68, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Lucas officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Elkhart Cemetery by Harrell Funeral Home. Mr. Sleeper was born in Dodge City. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Survivors include three sons, Earl Eugene Sleeper of San Angelo, Texas, William Allan Sleeper of Royal City, Wash., and Bruce Evan Sleeper of Garden City; a daughter, Tracie Kay Bowker of Richfield; a brother, L.C. Sleeper of Texhoma, Okla.; two sisters, Mary Lee Cooke of Texhoma, Okla., and Dolores Daldegan of Cheyenne Wells, Colo.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. John Durham officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery. Mr. Hartle loved art and music. He married Christia Hartle on July 14, 2001. Survivors include his wife; his parents, William and Bonnie Hartle of Stephenville; a brother, William Hartle Jr. of Perryton; a sister, Angelia Cordova of Perryton; and a grandmother. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Pigg was a retired manager at Foxworth Galbraith Lumber Co. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Hand lived in Friona for most of his life. Twelve years ago he moved to Dallas. Survivors include his mother, Dimple Hand of Friona; two sons, Danny Hand of Friona and Phillip Hand of Southlake; a daughter, Tawnya Wales of Dimmitt; two brothers, Mike Hand of Friona and Nick Hand of Dumas; a sister, LeVada Bush of Duncanville; and five grandchildren. Burial will be in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mrs. Craine was born in Atencio. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Craine and Cecilia Garcia both of Clayton; four sons, Jose C. Craine of Santa Fe, Jose C. Craine of Barstow, Calif., Ernesto D. Craine and Sam Craine both of Clayton; a brother, Fidel Gutierrez of Clayton; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
