Mrs. Layton had been a Borger resident since 1952. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Collis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., Amarillo. Mr. Alexander was born in Greenville. He moved to White Deer in 1956 from Mobeetie. He worked at Pantex as a machinist for 28 years, retiring in 1984. He served in the Army during World War II as a surgical technician and received the EAME Medal with two Bronze Stars. He was a member of First Baptist Church and White Deer Senior Citizens. He also was a member of the Panhandle post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Audrey Brewer in 1942 at Houston. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Earletta Moore of White Deer and Mayola Alexander of Meridian, Miss.; two sons, Carlton Alexander of Perryton and Rondal Alexander of Plains, Kan.; six sisters, Wilma Gulley, Edna Mae Tosh, Juanita Powell, Bonnie Scribner, Audrey Powell and Ann Nell Moyer, all of Pampa; two brothers, Bill Alexander of Amarillo and Carl Alexander of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 15th Avenue and Martin Road. Mrs. Hawthorne was born in Denver. She married Ollie Paul Hawthorne in Amarillo in 1928. They lived in Pampa from 1928 until 1957, when they moved to Amarillo. Mrs. Hawthorne and her husband were tailors and she worked at Doche Cleaners for 20 years. Mrs. Hawthorne was a kindergarten teacher for 20 years at First Christian Church in Pampa. She was a member of North Amarillo Christian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Betty P. Hawthorne of Amarillo and Ina Cole of Phoenix; a brother, E.E. "Buck" Sietz of Fort Collins, Colo.; a sister, Maxine Mauldin of Pampa; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Norris was born in Van Zandt County. He moved from Tucumcari, N.M., to Amarillo where he had lived for the past five years. He married Delores Hilda Strube on April 15, 1946, in Wellingham, Wash. Mr. Norris was a Merchant Marine during World War II. He was a member of South Georgia Baptist Church. He was a self-employed farmer and custom harvester in Tucumcari from 1964 to 1996. He was preceded in death by a brother; and a great-grandchild. Survivors include his wife, Delores "Dodie" Norris; four sons, James William Norris of Tucumcari, Eldon Norris Jr. of Amarillo, Roy Wayne Norris of Lubbock and Glenn Edward Norris of Dalhart; a daughter, Sharon Kay Jackson of Temple; a brother, Edward Cozelle Norris of Mabank; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He and Nuggie Merritt Woods were married June 19, 1986, in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Francis of Fort Worth; two sons, Boyd Lee and Quincy Robert, both of Denver; 12 stepchildren, Sheryl, Marsha, Sylvia, Olivia, April, Marion, Elston, Charles, Michael, Sharon, Victoria and George; his mother, Mary J. She married Archie Parker in 1933 at Hollis, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1979. She retired as a cafeteria worker from Amarillo Independent School District after 12 years. She was a Baptist. Jerry Coffman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Houtchens was a lifelong resident of the Amarillo area. He was a retired tool and machine inspector at Pantex for 33 years. He belonged to the Machinist and Carpenters Union. He also was active in the Amarillo Widows and Widowers Association. He was born in Harold and came to Amarillo as a young boy. He attended Amarillo High School. On Aug. 1, 1940, he and Helen Louise Baker were married. She preceded him in death on Jan. 28, 1999. He also was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Kenyeth was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, Terry Houtchens and his wife, Lori, of Amarillo; two daughters, Judy Glidewell and her husband, Tom, and Susie Pope and her husband, Bob, all of Canyon; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Walker Sr., 78, of Hugo, Okla., and formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, in Talihina, Okla. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church at Hugo. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery by Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffee Funeral Home of Hugo. Mr. Walker was born in Wynnewood, Okla., and moved to Amarillo as a young boy. He served as a paratrooper in the Army in World War II. He was a general contractor and home builder in Amarillo for many years. He established Charles M. Walker Concrete Co. in Amarillo in 1948. He moved from Amarillo to Hugo in 1971. Mr. Walker was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Khiva Shrine Temple. Survivors include his wife, Jimmy, of Hugo; a son, Charles M. Walker Jr. of Amarillo; a daughter, Lynette Kerr of Amarillo; a stepson, Terry Gibson of Wylie; two stepdaughters, Candy Tollett and Gwen Robertson, both of Hugo; a sister, Esther Owens of Arlington; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Powell was born May 18, 1928, in Deport, to Albert Jackson Hawkins and Eva Lela Brown Hawkins. She was a waitress. She married Virgil Ladell Hightower Feb. 10, 1947, in Paris. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1955, in Memphis. She then married George Albert Powell March 4, 1958, in Wichita Falls. He preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1970, in Amarillo. She also was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Earl Hightower; three brothers, Ray Hawkins, Monell Hawkins and Wendall Hawkins; three sisters, Nell Hawkins, Doris Hawkins and Sadie Hawkins; and a grandson, Virgil Dale Hightower. Mrs. Powell was a Baptist. Survivors include two sons, Virgil Don Hightower of Marietta, Okla., and George Edward Powell of Amarillo; two brothers, A.J.
