Mrs. Norton was born in Acme and lived in Memphis most of her life. She owned and operated the Messer Cafe. She was a member of Travis Baptist Church and the Rebekah Lodge. She was preceded in death by two husbands, C.J. Messer and Russell Norton; and by a son, Charles Messer. Survivors include a daughter, Jaussetta Martin of Memphis; a brother, Ernest Hollis of Snyder; two stepsons, Larry Norton of Childress and R.L. Norton of Denver; two stepdaughters, Jo Thompson and Pat Norton, both of Amity, Ark.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mrs. Moffett was born in Elmore City, Okla., and moved to Clarendon in 1930. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Panhandle. She was married to James Clifton "Jake" Moffett in 1940 at Clarendon. He died in 1997. Survivors include a son, James Carroll Moffett of Panhandle; a sister, Myrtle Christine Salmon of Canyon; a stepsister, Roy Bernice Pyeatt of Amarillo; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and a member of the Pampa Senior Citizens Center. She married Nathan "Pat" Cox in 1947 at Pampa. He died in 1990. She married Eugene Taylor in 1999 at Pampa. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Nan Cox, in 1951. She was a homemaker and a member of the Key Heights Baptist Church of Perryton. She was a past member of the Happy Campers and a member of the Balko FFA Members Mothers Club. She was married to Dwayne Apple in 1971 at Liberal, Kan. He died in 1996. Burial will be in Vesperland Gardens at Highland Park Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Boggess was born in Tennessee and had lived in Borger for the past 50 years. He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater, receiving the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. He worked as a pumper in the oil industry. He was a Baptist and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1789 and the Odd Fellows Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Pearlie Boggess; a son, Edwin Boggess Jr. of Amarillo; a daughter, Birdie Bill of Italy; a stepson, Donald Followill of Fritch; two stepdaughters, Linda Wigart of Borger and Shirley Kirkham of Stratford; a brother, Arch Boggess of Tulia; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She grew up in Nazareth, graduating as valedictorian from Nazareth High School. She attended Texas Tech. She was a homemaker and a member of Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters, and Senior Citizens. She was married to Ray Schulte in 1940 at Nazareth. He died in 1988. She also was preceded in death by three sons, Howard Schulte, Wayne Schulte and Leon Schulte. Survivors include four daughters, Raelene Hoelting, Bernita Hoelting, Vera Ramaekers and Sheryl Kleman, all of Nazareth; five sons, Marvin Schulte, Kenny Schulte, Clyde Schulte, Bob Schulte and Olen Schulte, all of Nazareth; 31 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was married to Joyce "Ann" Gatlin in 2000 at Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Herman Jr., in 1996. Mr. Neely was born in Gunter. An Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he served at Pearl Harbor, New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He was a field lineman in the artillery corps and had received medals and awards, including four Bronze Stars. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Ann Passons and Carolyn Sue Ragsdale, both of Dallas; a son, James B. Neely of Dallas; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Mr. Henson was born in Throckmorton, Texas. He worked for Santa Fe Railway until retirement in 1976. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Division No. 811 and a member of Central Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Waldene Henson; a son, Jerry Henson of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Sue Carol Stephens of Waco, Texas, and Barbara O'Haver of Arlington, Texas; three brothers, Wilson Henson of Oklahoma City, Ernest Henson of Lindsay, Okla., and Jerry Henson of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Lois Langley and Elizabeth Wortman, both of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. McCleskey was born in Plainview, Texas, and moved to Clovis in 1938. She owned and operated Babe's Drapery Shop. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Clovis. She married Marvin David "Mac" McCleskey Jr. in 1941. He died in 1990. Survivors include a son, Dale McCleskey of Albuquerque; and three grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Feb. 22, 2001 Oklahoma Grace Opal Askew ELK CITY, Okla. - Grace Opal Askew, formerly of Elk City, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, in Plainview, Texas. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Whinery-Savage Chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Hall officiating. Burial will be in Lawnview Cemetery at Cordell. Mrs. Askew was born in Webb City, Ark., and grew up near Ozark, Ark. She moved with her family to Washita County in 1927. She married Douglas W. Askew in 1928 at Cordell. They moved to Colony, then to the Burns Flat / Dill City area where they farmed. They moved to Elk City in 1979 and she had recently moved to Plainview. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include two daughters, Ruby Grace Morgan of Plainview and Norma Jean Olsen of Dallas; four sisters, Mattie Sullivan and Lillian Goff, both of Bethany, Hazel Carpenter of Elk City and Pauline Coley of Oklahoma City; a brother, Tom Young of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
