He married Viola Morris in 1949 at Clovis, N.M. After several moves and several schools, she graduated from high school in Bristow, Okla. She received her formal education at Bristow Junior College and later graduated from Oklahoma State University. She received a master of science degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Her advanced studies included further work at the University of Houston, the University of Texas and Pepperdine University in California. Mrs. Wiles worked for J.M. Huber Corp. in Borger as a legal secretary for 20 years and was later transferred to Denver, where she was manager of land and lease records. She then taught school in Borger for 20 years. She was chairman of the science department at Borger High School, taught biology and was nominated for Texas Teacher of the Year. She was first president of the Borger Desk and Derrick Club and later made an honorary member when transferred to Denver. Mrs. Wiles was a member of the honorary teachers society Delta Kappa Gamma and the American Association for Advancement of Science. She was a life member of Texas State Teachers Association, patron of Borger Federated Music Club and vice president of Women of Rotary. She married Lester Wiles in February 1961 at Borger. She was a member of Westcliff Bible Church in Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a son, Mike Wiles of Round Rock; a daughter, Sylvia Lewis of Bethany, Okla.; two brothers, Jim Scott of Borger, and Jack Scott of Seabrook; a sister, Mary Reig of Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven nephews; and 13 nieces. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1962. He returned to Amarillo after his retirement and worked for Swift Trucking and Toot'n Totum Food Stores. He was an award-winning photographer and artist. Mr. Cook was born and raised in Botetourt County, Va. He was a longtime resident of Amarillo. For more than 30 years, Mr. Cook had owned and operated S.L. Cook Wheel Alignment and Brake Service until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. He married Edith Elizabeth Bird on Aug. 16, 1932, at Clovis, N.M. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1996, after 64 years of marriage. Osage St. Mrs. Benson was born in Goodnight. She married A.B. "Cap" Benson on June 14, 1940, in Pampa. She was a member of the Gruver chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a tax collector for the Gruver Independent School District for about six years. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed preparing feasts for family and friends. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Gruver for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Stedje, in 1997; a son-in-law, Dennis Stedje, in 2000; and a brother, John M. Cook, in 1974.
