Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Hedley Church of Christ with Bright Newhouse, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. of Clarendon. Mrs. Messer was born Sept. 17, 1903, in Hess, Greer County, Okla., and came to Texas at age 2. She had been a lifetime resident of the Hedley area. She married Olen Ferral "Pete" Messer on Oct. 6, 1921, at Memphis. He preceded her in death in 1985. She was a wonderful cook. She was a homemaker, a farmer and a member of the Hedley Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, a brother and a daughter-in-law. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nelda and Jim Hudson of Amarillo; one son, Doyle Messer of Hedley; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends. Mrs. Glick had been a lifelong resident of Lefors, moving to Grapevine approximately four years ago. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lefors. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. McGregor was born in Clinton, Okla., and was reared in Thomas. She graduated with a degree in education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1954. She married Herbert McGregor on Nov. 20, 1955, in Amarillo. She received her master's degree from West Texas State University and was involved in education in Amarillo and Canyon for more than 36 years. She taught first and second grades for the Amarillo Independent School District for several years and worked with deaf students before joining the Canyon Independent School District. She taught at Gene Howe Elementary School for several years before becoming the curriculum director - for 12 years - for the CISD. She opened and served as the first principal of Arden Road Elementary School in 1987 and served as principal until her retirement in 1989. Survivors include her husband, Herb McGregor of Amarillo; a son, Danny McGregor of Amarillo; a daughter, Sherri McGregor of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mary Riha of Amarillo and Nita Ann McDonald of Anadarko, Okla.; and two grandsons, Quinlin McGregor and Blaine McGregor of Amarillo. "Kitty" Brady, 94, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Clifford Trotter, retired United Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Brady was born in Moore County and had been a resident of Amarillo for 86 years. She aided in the establishment of, and was the first president of, the Ladies Auxiliary of Saint Anthony's Hospital. She was a member of the Texas Association of Hospital Auxiliaries. She served as president of the organization in 1956 and 1957. She was instrumental in establishing the T.A.H.A. Gift and Memorial Scholarship Foundation. She was an avid supporter of the Amarillo Symphony, Amarillo Opera and the Lone Star Ballet. She held memberships in Amarillo Symphony Guild, Amarillo Art Alliance, Amarillo Botanical Center, Palo Duro Club and Polk Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Brady in 1976. The family suggests memorials be to T.A.H.A. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Fonken was a retired manager/treasurer for Texhoma Federal Credit Union in Fritch. Amarillo Globe-News, June 22, 2001 Elsewhere Jerry Kerbow Leach AUSTIN - "Jerry" Kerbow Leach, 88, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Assumption Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum by Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Mrs. Leach was born in an apartment above the train depot in Clarendon on May 29, 1913, to Fred and Myrtle (Edwards) Kerbow, the first of four children. She grew up in the Texas Panhandle and attended college at Texas Tech in Lubbock, where she met her partner of more than 50 years, husband Harry Leach. They moved to Austin following World War II, in 1946, where she was employed at the old downtown Woolworth's for several years, following which she was employed for almost 30 years at the Texas Employment Commission. She was an active member of Austin's St. Mary's Catholic Church for more than 50 years and also was a member of the Daughters of Charity. Jerry was active in the old Austin Civic Theatre in its early years, before becoming known as Zachary Scott Theatre. She was head costumer from 1948 through 1958. She was a longtime member of Lifetime Learning in Austin and served on the board of directors, advisory council and various other committees over the years until her death. Jerry was a warm and loving person with a great sense of humor who touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; brothers, Paul Kerbow and James Kerbow; and sister, Betty Kerbow Shurley. Survivors include her cousin, Virginia New; nieces, Patti Shurley Boyd and Susan Shurley Gilbert; nephew, Stephen Kerbow; and other cousins, nieces and nephews.
