Williams J.C. Williams, 76, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, in Dumas. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Texline Cemetery in Texline with the Rev. Stephen Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church in Dalhart, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Williams was born March 4, 1925, in Kenefic, Okla. In 1943 he entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1949. Survivors include four daughters, Donna Brandes of Wildorado, Bonnie Miller of Carmel, Ind., and Joan Wilkerson and Karen Sue Stewart, both of Indianapolis; a son, Ricky Williams of Ravia, Okla.; a sister, Anna B. Warren of Dalhart; a brother, Odell Williams of Vernon; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wiebe had lived in the Wheeler Care Center since 1984. She married Nick Wiebe in 1928. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. May was born July 16, 1924, in Canyon. He had been a Dumas resident since 1972. He was a former Deaf Smith County resident. He married Edna Davis on May 12, 1969, in Hereford. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dawn. He was a founding director of Dawn Cooperative and an agriculture leader in Deaf Smith County. He retired in 1985 after a lifetime of farming in the Panhandle. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lea May; a son, Phillip Wayne May; and a brother, Marvin May. Survivors include his wife, Edna; four sons, Doug May and wife Shera, of Amarillo, and Rick May and wife Judy, Randy Davis and wife Lynn, and Mike Davis and wife Terri, all of Dumas; two daughters, Teresa Andrews and husband, Max, of Burleson, and Kim Johnson of Dumas; 12 grandchildren, Lance, Coby, Mark, Chris, Tyler, Austin, Kelsey, Shayla, Shandi, Shayne, Dillin and Alexi; and seven great-grandchildren, Jace, Braxton, Cole, Shyli, Payton, Chase and Madison. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Greenville Fire Department with the Rev. Alan Burkhalter, pastor of Chaparral Hills Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mrs. Colyer was born Jan. 15, 1912, in Van Buren, Ark., to James and Gertrude VanZandt. She married Ed Nicholas of Eureka, Kan., and after his death in 1944, she moved to Raton, N.M. She married Curley Colyer on Jan. 12, 1948, and they moved to the ranch near Grenville. She always was very active in the church and community. She was a Sunday School teacher, a 4-H leader for many years, a former mayor of Grenville, a member of the Mile High Extension Club, and named in Who's Who of American Women. Survivors include a daughter, Pavela James and husband Richard; a son, Edwin Nicholas and wife Yolanda; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in 21st Street Church of Christ with Cecil Bunch officiating. Burial will be in Texico Cemetery by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Crook married Willis R. Crook on March 20, 1930, in Roswell. She was a beautician. Survivors include a son, Jerry Crook of Clovis; a sister, Mae Stone of Texico; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 22, 2001 Amarillo Ann Warren Ann Warren, 92, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Terry Lowe of St. Stephen United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Warren died early Thursday morning after a brief illness. She made her home for the last four years at Potter House Assisted Living. She moved to Amarillo on April 28, 1919, from Marion, Ala., after the death of her mother in the 1918 flu epidemic. Her father, E.M. Blackburn Sr., had just purchased the Eakle Undertaking Co. from Clarence Eakle. It was the first undertaking company in Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School, attended nurses's training at the original Northwest Texas Hospital, and later was the first office nurse when Dr. W.H. Wheir started his practice. She married Hugh Lackey of Perryton. She later returned to Amarillo to make a home for her father. She married Fred Warren on March 6, 1948. She was an avid bridge player and a charter member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and friend and an inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, on Sept. 16, 1978. Survivors include three daughters, Betsy Northrup and Kay Sheffield, both of Amarillo, and Nan Sullivan of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Bill Lackey and wife Lee of Amarillo; a brother, E.M. Blackburn Jr.; eight grandchildren, Gwen Crow, Leta Nixon, Hugh Lackey, Melinda Northrup, Amy Pairis, Sara Northrup, Liz Sullivan and Jeffery Sullivan; and five great-grandchildren, Pamela Crow, Chelsie Marlatt, Kevin Pairis, Reese Marlatt and Tana Nixon. Mr. Gray married Maudene White on Dec. 16, 1946, in Giddings. He was a longtime resident of Amarillo. He retired from Steer Tank Lines with more than 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by wives Odessa Ricker and Ruby Ricker. Mrs. Sherrill was born July 18, 1914, to John Lindsey and Dona Withers in Wizard Wells, Texas. She married Rufus Sherrill on Oct. 5, 1932. Ruby was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She loved her family and especially loved to cook. She also loved going to church and being with her church friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and two brothers.
