Mrs. Smith was married to Hobbie Smith on May 17, 1937, in Plainview. She was a 50-year member of First Assembly of God. Survivors include her husband; a son, Paul Smith of Plainview; and two sisters, Lois Poole of Plainview and Dorothy Thaxton of Amarillo. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Gospel of Grace Church at Hooker, Okla., with the Rev. Lloyd Burd, of Amarillo, officiating. Burial was in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mr. Patterson was born July 26, 1937, in Topeka, Kan., the son of Truman Andrew and Eva Marie Mitchell Patterson. He married Pauline Barnes on Feb. 10, 1957, in Clayton, N.M. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Wade Patterson of Layton, Utah, Allen Patterson of Wylie and Steven Patterson of Amarillo; a daughter, Leigh Ann Patterson of Amarillo; two brothers, Truman Patterson of Wichita, Kan., and Howard Patterson of Amarillo; a sister, Donna Stone of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 23, 2001 Norene Morse AUSTIN - Norene Trueblood Morse, 68, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian. Arrangements are by Harrell Funeral Home of Austin. Mrs. Morse died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, after a two-year illness with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease). Norene was born in Higgins on Jan. 27, 1933, the daughter of Elva McCleery Trueblood and Noble William Trueblood. In 1935 she moved with her family to Canadian, where she grew up. She graduated from Canadian High School in 1951 and earned a bachelor's degree at Texas Technological College in January 1954. She taught high school business courses in O'Brien High School the spring semester of 1954. In the school year of 1955-56 she taught high school business courses in Carrizzo High School in New Mexico. On Sept. 16, 1956, she was married to Vernon Bruce Morse in Canadian. In Canadian she raised two daughters and was substitute teacher in high school and taught adult business courses at night. She was a charter member of the Comancheria Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Morse moved to Austin in October 1991. In Austin, she was active in the Thankful Hubbard Chapter of the DAR and the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Laura Ellen Morton and two grandsons, Alex Morton and Stephen Morton of Iowa City, Iowa; a daughter, Ann Morse of Austin; and an aunt, Etna Schafer of Monticello, Utah.
