Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Dunn Memorial Chapel with Norman Straton, his close friend of Clovis, officiating. Cremation has taken place. Mr. Brunk was born in Chickasha, Okla. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy as a Seabee. He served with the New Mexico State Police for 30 years and retired in 1968 as captain. For many years he worked from the Tucumcari State Police office. He had been a resident of Conchas Dam before moving to Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife, Francis Brunk, and a son, Tom Brunk. Survivors include a daughter, Clara Brunk of Mobile, Ala.; three grandsons; a granddaughter; and numerous sisters. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 23, 2001 Reno J. Bonomo LOGAN, N.M. - Reno J. Bonomo, 69, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Anne's Catholic Church with the Rev. John C. Daniel of the church officiating. Interment of cremains will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. Bonomo was born in Roy. He graduated from Roy High School in 1949 and from New Mexico State University in 1953. A longtime resident of Logan and Quay County, he served in the Army and retired as lieutenant colonel. He was commander of the 1203 Tank Unit during the Vietnam War. He operated a well service in Roy before moving to Tucumcari, where he managed the Arch Hurley Conservancy District. He served as village manager of Logan and assistant city manager of Tucumcari. He retired in Logan. Mr. Bonomo was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Bonomo, in 1983. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Bonomo; two sisters, Colleen Grogan of Raton and Janet Willis of Cedar Crest; a brother, John H. Mahoney of Roy; a stepson, Dr. Rick Garcia; his stepfather, J.A. She married Lloyd E. Payne in 1940. They lived at Belen and Carlsbad before moving to Clovis in 1977. He died in 1992. She was a homemaker and charter member of Epworth Methodist Church at Carlsbad. Survivors include two sons, Ronald E. Payne of Denver and Kenneth L. Payne of Clovis; a brother, Carl Parkhurst of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Arline Ferris of Belen; and five grandchildren. Burial will be in Logan Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mrs. Russell was born in Melrose. She operated the Galley Cafe at Ute Lake, and worked for the Logan school district. She formerly worked for J.C. Penny in California. She moved to Portales four years ago. Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Hodges of Roswell, Betty Lou Olson of Portales and Lenora Frieson of LaMirada, Calif.; a sister, Daisey Buchwald of Santa Fe; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson was born in St. Joseph, Mo., and moved to Clovis in 1938. She moved to Conchas Dam from Clovis in 1975 and returned to Clovis in 1998. She was a homemaker and charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Aerie No. 3245. She married A.E. "New" Wilson in 1940 at Marysville, Mo. He died in 1997. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Bessie Tallchief; and by a son, Johnny Joe Wilson. Osage St. Mr. Sims was born in Mobeetie. He graduated from Mobeetie High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin before joining the Air Force. He was stationed in Europe during World War II and was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star and the Silver Star. In 1962 he retired after 20 years of service. He was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church. He married Ruth Jones in 1959 at Spokane, Wash. She was an opera singer at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and after retiring in 1989 became a private voice teacher. She married Orville Robertson in 1931. She married Edgar Marion Bartlett in 1952. He died in 1970. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lorraine Grantham, in 1968. She married Royal Patterson "Preacher" Reed in 1943. He died in 1967. She also was preceded in death by three children, Betty Kennedy, Jack Kennedy and Ransom Oliver Kennedy. She married Paul H. Morgan in 1934. He died in 1978. She also was preceded in death by a son, William Neal Morgan, in 1967. He worked for Santa Fe Railway, retiring after 33 years. He married Mary Aurrelia Velarde in 1940 at Las Animas, Colo. He was preceded in death by three daughters, Mary Ann Alvarez, Regina Alvarez, and Susie McElroy. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marcey Burkett of Lewisville, Texas, Alice Schwinde of Amarillo and Sara Etherton of Denton, Texas; a son, Robert Alvarez of Norman; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served three times as Worthy Matron. She was a member of Beaver United Methodist Church, the Marthas of the Methodist Church and Beaver Senior Citizens. She was honored as Beaver's Pioneer Woman of the Year. She married Walter M. Hyatt in 1927 at Liberal, Kan. He died in 1975. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn West of Littlefield, Texas; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Patrick was raise in Nash, Okla., and attended school near there. She moved to Boise City in 1948. She was a hairdresser. She married Marvin Yowell in 1939 at Enid, Okla. She married Dr. Vergil Patrick in 1967 at Boise City and afterward moved to Cisco, Texas, where she was an antique dealer and office manager at her husband's Lake Road Animal Hospital. Mrs. Patrick was a member of First Baptist Church in Cisco and a past member of First Baptist Church in Boise City. Dr. Patrick preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Claudine Yowell. Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Leader of Ardmore and Charline O'Hara of Golden, Colo.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of San Juan United Methodist Church. She and her family moved to the McAllen/Mission area in 1971 when she and her husband became owners of McAllen Refrigeration Co. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Borger, United Methodist Women, the PTA, the Association of American University Women and the American Dietitian Association. She was a Girl Scout leader. She married Duward Hayter in 1947 at Norman, Okla. He died in 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Tucker of Vernon; a son, John Hayter of Nacogdoches; two sisters, Thelma Segnar and Marie Galloway Van Schuyver, both of Tahlequah, Okla.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Jan. 23, 2001 Jerry Bowman Cartwright BOOKER - Jerry Bowman Cartwright, 68, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at his home in southwest Booker. Cremation and arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mr. Cartwright was born in Shattuck, Okla., and was a longtime resident of Ochiltree County. He attended school at Perryton and graduated from Booker High School in 1949. He served in the Navy for three years before attending West Texas State College and the University of Nevada, and working at casinos while pursuing his writing career. He wrote a monthly column which appeared in the magazines, "Rudder," "Motor Boating" and "Sailing." He designed sailboats and owned Cartwright's Custom Yacht Designs. In 1980, he won the "Jester Class" in an Atlantic solo race. Mr. Cartwright married Kay Allington in 1967 in London, England. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Justine Nesbit of Childress and Sasha Cartwright and Thea Cartwright, both of the home; his mother, Ann Cartwright of Booker; and a grandson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church. In 1962 she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Daniel Hale. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Danny Lee Hale and Rheta Pearl Nelms. Survivors include two daughters, Iona Lane of Houston and Virginia Dutton of Oklahoma City; a son, Nathan Hale of St. Paul; seven grandchildren; a step-grandson and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She married Alvin Redin in 1918 at Silverton. He died in 1990. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Morrison Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, with his nephew, the Rev. Jimmy Ray, of Tulsa, Okla., and Gerald Clark, assistant pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Mr. Ray was born in Quanah and had lived in Dumas since 1944. In 1976, he retired from Diamond Shamrock. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He married Linnie Harris in 1934. She died in 1943. He married Oteka Patrick in 1944 at Quanah. She died in 1998. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Hawthorn of Killeen and Geraldine Ray of Salacauga, Ala.; six sons, Robert "Bobby" Ray of Hedley, Harold Ray of Childress, Kenneth Ray of Pampa, Charles Dwight Ray and Michael Ray Sr., both of Dumas and Keith Ray of Amarillo; 33 grandchildren; numerous greatgrandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at 135 N. Meredith.
