Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Ivy Chapel at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Gary Smith, pastor of First Christian Church in Spearman, officiating. Mrs. Goodwin was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala. She had lived in Amarillo since 1982. A homemaker, she had worked in sales in the fragrance department at Dillard's. She married Glenn Goodwin on May 29, 1992, in Las Vegas. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sandra Vines of Grapevine and Deborah Conway-DePrieto of Los Angeles; a brother, Buddy Harris of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and five grandchildren. Roberson, pastor, officiating. Private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Ms. Babb was a lifetime resident of Amarillo. She worked as a secretary. She graduated from Tascosa High School in 1972. Survivors include a son, Aaron Wade Henderson of Amarillo; a daughter, Catherine Lea Henderson of Amarillo; a brother, Chuck Babb of Amarillo; a sister, Lisa Babb Weyenberg of Amarillo; and a granddaughter, Burkleigh Marie Henderson. Hayden St. Amarillo Daily News, April 24, 2001 Dagmar Nicholas Dagmar Nicholas, 89, of Amarillo, died Sunday, April 22, 2001. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Washington Avenue Christian Church. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Walker Merrick Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery of Shenandoah, Iowa. Local arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, St. Mrs. Nicholas was born in Page County, Stanton, Iowa. She married Clyde P. Nicholas in Rockport, Mo. on May 18, 1929. Mrs. Nicholas graduated from Stanton High School in Stanton, Iowa. She was a homemaker from 1929 to 1953. After the death of her husband, she worked at Union Carbide in Red Oak, Iowa, retiring in 1971. She had resided in Amarillo since 1979. She was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church. She was a member of Texas Bluebonnets and many other organizations. Mrs. Nicholas was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Pearl Nicholas; a son, Richard Allen Nicholas; a grandson, Dwight Virgil Herzberg; and three sonsin-law. Survivors include four daughters, Betty Marie Nicholas Herzberg of Clarion, Iowa, Carolyne Louise Nicholas Hanson, of Elk Point, S.D., Phyllis Elaine Foster of Stillwater, Okla., and Shirley Maxine Nicholas Clark of Amarillo; three sons-inlaw, David Foster, Jack Clark and Adrian Hanson Sr.; 15 grandchildren; 27 greatgrandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Hill, 91, of Amarillo, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. F.M Byford of Paramount Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Hill came to Amarillo in 1958. She was a longtime member of Paramount Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hill, in July of 1994; and by a grandson, Bruce Lewis. Survivors include two daughters, Clella Lewis of Lubbock and Wanda Hatcher of Escondido, Calif.; a brother, Jim Nicholson of Sayre, Okla.; four sisters, Ruby Simmons of Sayre, Ona Shipley of Kingfisher, Okla., Mildred Johnson of Oregon and Edna Greene of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren, Terry Hatcher, Rue Racine and Trudi Lewis Boyd; and five great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, April 24, 2001 James Warren Bissantz James Warren Bissantz, 83, of Amarillo, died Sunday, April 22, 2001. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Batson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Higgins Cemetery at Higgins. Arrangements are by BlackburnShaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Bissantz went to be with his Lord on April 22. He was a loving and faithful husband, father, friend and Christian example to all who knew him. Warren was born in Higgins on Oct. 25, 1917 to Adolph and Florence Bissantz. He attended Friends University in Wichita, Kan. He married his bride of 61 years, Gladys Lorenz, following graduation. They moved to Amarillo in 1939. He worked as a senior field claims representative for Home Insurance Co. until he retired in 1981. He served as a navigator in the Army Air Corps during World II, and was proud to honor and serve his country all of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church since 1939 and had served as deacon and director of the adults Sunday school department for 35 years. He was a member of Gideons International. He was a Mason. He and Gladys were tour hosts for Trailways Tours, where they enjoyed many years of travel and meeting people. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Nancy Hunt of Phoenix and Julia Watts of Fort Worth; a sister, Jetta Ruth Slack of Santa Maria, Calif., and a brother, Stanley Bissantz of Borger. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice; Citychurch of Amarillo or Gideons International. The body will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Padilla moved to Clovis in 1991 from Clayton, where he had lived most of his life. He worked as a farm laborer and for Burlington Northern Railroad in Tucumcari for several years. Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 10, 1919, in Hansford County, Texas, to Thressa Poling and Earl E. Jones. She had lived in Hardesty most of her life. Survivors include her daughter, JoAnn Stuard of Hardesty; two sisters, Oneta Evans of Vidor, Texas, and Earlene "Jo" Wiles of Bentonville, Ark.; a brother, Owen "Preach" Jones of Guymon; and two grandchildren. Dencker GUYMON, Okla. - Joan E. Dencker, 68, died Saturday, April 21, 2001. Services were Monday in Christ Lutheran Church at Elkhart, Kan., with the Rev. Mark Wescoatt officiating. Mrs. Dencker graduated from high school in 1950 at Brighton, Mich., and earned a bachelor of arts degree from Eastern Michigan University. She taught for 10 years after receiving her master of arts degree in 1962 from the University of Michigan. Survivors include her husband, Gustav N. Dencker; two sons, Joe Dencker of Denver and John Dencker of Champaign, Ill.; and two grandchildren. Mr. Swenn and his wife, Freeda Bechthold Swenn, made their home southwest of Darrouzett, where they engaged in farming and ranching for 54 years. They moved to Darrouzett in 1992 and to Spearman in 1998. Survivors include a son, Melvin Swenn of Spearman; a daughter, Glenda Straub of Double Oak; two brothers; a sister; four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Jones married Delton Jones on Feb. 15, 1941 in Dierks, Ark. They moved to the Littlefield area in 1952 and to Hale Center in 1993.
