Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Ulrey, the Rev. Don McMahan and Jimmy Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Flomot Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mrs. Anderson married Denver Anderson Nov. 19, 1941, at Matador. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband; a son, Rex Anderson of Quitaque; a daughter, Ginger Thurman of Hereford; a sister, Gennelle Lowerey of Canyon; and two grandsons. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to First United Methodist Church in Quitaque. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 24, 2001 Charlie Edward Hammons PAMPA - Charlie Edward Hammons, 75, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Hammons was born July 9, 1926, in Porum, Okla. He married Dorothy Marie Noel on March 21, 1945, at Tulia. He moved to Pampa in 1945 and began working for Cabot Carbon Black as a welder. He retired in January 1988 as a maintenance foreman. Mr. Hammons was a coach and an official for the Optimist sports programs for many years. He joined the Army in 1944, serving with the 738th Army Corps of Engineers and was part of the occupation army of Japan. He was discharged in 1946. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Cherokee Indian. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Strecker, in 1986. Survivors include his wife; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jane Hammons of The Colony and Nan and Loy Rice of Amarillo; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jon and Dee Hammons of Clovis, N.M., and Bud Hammons of Carrollton; two sisters, Ruby Rhea and Mary Elgin, both of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren, Eric Nolte of Plano and Kaleb Rice of Amarillo; a mother-in-law, Florence Marie Ponds; many cousins including, Dot Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a resident of Lake Meredith for 20 years, moving back to Amarillo in 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Guy Virden, in 1991. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 24, 2001 Faye Cooper Faye Cooper, 95, of Amarillo and formerly of Bradenton, Fla., died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Manatee Avenue Chapel, in Bradenton. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Smith, pastor of Central Christian Church. Mrs. Cooper was born in Atchison County, Mo., on June 2, 1906. She worked in diverse occupations as secretary, actress, teacher of Morse code, defense worker and a housewife. She majored in dramatics in college in Minneapolis, got caught in the depression and rather than go on stage she went to work in an office. Her on-and-off love affair with the theater gave her the opportunity to work on stage and travel with a ballet company. She later became connected with a large real estate firm where she met their new construction superintendent, Tom Cooper, who she later married. They moved to Bradenton in February 1948. He preceded her in death in 1976. She was an active member of Central Christian Church. She and her sister, Ruby McGlasson, moved to Amarillo in 1998. Her sister preceded her in death in that same year. Survivors include a niece, Marilyn Richie of Amarillo; and several great nieces and nephews. She married Brad Smith in 1981 at Amarillo. She was a member of Dumas Drive Church of Christ. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Frederick, in 1983; and by a son, Chip Gibson, in 1997. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery in Wellington by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mrs. Davis was born Dec. 3, 1942, to James M. Orr and Betty Roby Orr, in Houston. She came to Wellington at an early age with her family. Lynda graduated from Wellington High School in 1961, from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. in 1963, and from the University of Texas in 1965. She taught school in Bryan for eight years and first grade for Amarillo Independent School District for 24 years. Lynda was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority. She was a member of the St. Stephens United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Jane Manuel of Wellington and Ann McLain of Albuquerque, N.M.; three nieces, Shelly Thomas of Wellington, Amy Woodfin of Flower Mound and Holly Ross of Wichita, Kan.; a nephew, Ross McLain of Los Angeles; a great-niece, Jasmine Ballew of Wichita; and a great-nephew, C.J. Mr. Morgan was born Nov. 8, 1908, in Geary, Okla. He operated the Conchas Cotton Gin in Tucumcari for many years, retiring in 1985. Survivors include his wife, Marry; and a stepdaughter, Alene Allredge of Tulsa, Okla. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. R.L. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Terrace at Farwell, Texas, by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Miss Lindley worked at Sunbridge High Plains Care and Rehabilitation Center as a nurse's aide. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, church choir and women's auxiliary. Survivors include a son, Jonathan Benjamin Lindley of Clovis; her parents, Kelly and Tommie Lindley of Clovis; a brother, Sean Kelly Lindley of Clovis; and a grandmother, Willetta Johnson Pottard of Clovis.
