Thurmond Jr. Leo E. Thurmond Jr., 77, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001. Services were Dec. 18 in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor Raymond Crosier of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mr. Thurmond was a meteorologist for more than 30 years in Lubbock. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a graduate of UCLA in California. Survivors include his wife, Mary B. Thurmond; a son, Leo Thurmond III of Amarillo; two daughters, Mary Ruth Thurmond of Lubbock and Dr. Margaret Thurmond-Anderle of Amarillo; a brother, John T. Thurmond; three grandchildren, Leo Anderle, Ronald Anderle and Grace Thurmond. The family requests memorials be sent to American Diabetes Association. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 24, 2001 Mary Louise Hill Mary Louise Hill, 89, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Tom DaMour, pastor of United Church of God, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Hill was born in Cassville, Mo., and had lived in Amarillo since 1945. She was a member of United Church of God for more than 40 years. She was one of the original 'Harvey Girls' and also worked at Remington Arms Munitions Factory as a 'Rosie the Riveter.' Everyone who knew her will mis her. She was a caring and giving person, always thinking of others. Mrs. Hill married Clifford Hill on March 3, 1943, in Clovis, N.M. He died in 1974. Survivors include a son, Gary Hill of Batavia, Ill.; three daughters, Ronda Crabtree and Dina Hill, both of Amarillo and Celena Hill of Newport Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will be at 4323 S. Polk St. and requests memorials be to the Salvation Army. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 24, 2001 Oklahoma Harold H. Hummer LEXINGTON, Okla. - Harold H. Hummer, 80, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Fairmont Cemetery in Follett, Texas. Arrangements are by Barnes and Johnson Funeral Home of Midwest City, Okla. Mr. Hummer was born in Huntoon, Texas, on Aug. 17, 1921, to Olive and Beulah Branch. He worked for many years as a diesel mechanic for John Deere. He was a gifted mechanic, loving husband and father and was baptized at the age of 10 and remained a faithful Christian all his life. Survivors include his wife, Mabel of the home; four daughters, Charlotte Hummer Walker of Amarillo, Texas, Treela Vaughn of Lexington, Olive Wyman of Ripley, N.Y., and Sherry Hummer Hill of Lubbock, Texas; a son Clyde Hummer of Perryton, Texas; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Melvena Hummer Hazen of Independence, Kan.; and numerous relatives and friends. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 24, 2001 Tera McGlothlin FRIONA - Tera McGlothlin, 95, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001. Services were Sunday in the Sixth Street Church of Christ with Leon Talley officiating. Burial was in the Friona Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mrs. McGlothlin was a lifetime resident of Friona. She married Bill McGlothlin on Jan. 29, 1946, in Friona. He died on Oct. 23, 1982. She and her husband owned the movie theater in Friona for many years. Survivors include her daughter, Gail Hand of Friona; a stepdaughter, Frances Merritt of Friona; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 24, 2001 Roy E. Devin TULIA - Roy E. Devin, 86, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rob Lindley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Devin was born July 31, 1915, in Tulia. He married Virginia Clayton Devin on June 29, 1946. Survivors include his wife; a son, Clayton E. Devin of Dallas; two brothers, Albert P. Devin and Delbert L. Devin both of Tulia; three sisters, Lena D. Allen of Canyon, and Catherine D. Sprawls and Mattie B. Devin both of Tulia; and a granddaughter, Whitney N. Devin of Dallas. The family suggests memorials be to Tulia Senior Citizens or to First United Methodist Church. Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 24, 2001 Bruce Hendrickson CANYON - Bruce Hendrickson, 50, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Brooks Chapel with the Rev. David Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Chapel. Mr. Hendrickson was born on Oct. 11, 1951, in Lubbock to Robert and Ola Faye Crowell Hendrickson Jr. He began first grade in Lubbock then moved to Canyon in 1959. He was a graduate of Canyon High School and was active in the school choir from junior high through high school. He attended West Texas State University from 1975 to 1976. Mr. Hendrickson enjoyed playing golf and was an avid football fan. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Canyon. He was employed by West Texas A&M University Physical Plant until the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bruce Hendrickson Jr., in 1974. Survivors include his mother, Ola Faye Hendrickson of Canyon; a brother, Larry Hendrickson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two nieces, Amber and Jamie Hendrickson of Amarillo; a nephew, Shaun Hendrickson and wife Laura and their mother, Donna Hendrickson, all of Canyon; and a lifetime friend, Phillip Brandt of Umbarger. Miss Ramirez was born in Rungel. She married Alonzo Ramirez on Nov. 21, 1928. Survivors include three sons, George Ramirez of Hereford, Joe Ramirez of Huntsville, Ala., and Fred Ramirez of Amarillo; three daughters, Yolanda Cano and Tonia Gamez, both of Amarillo and Lupe Pensina of Hereford; a brother, Domingo Basaldua of California; 37 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
